Played BCC twice this week, riding solo Wednesday am from the black tees and walking this morning from the blues with a mother and (middle age) son. Pace of play was good on Wednesday where I was sent off the 10th tee to avoid the pot game starting on the front nine. Today not so much when the course was more crowded.

The course is in beautiful shape. Gorgeous green fairways and lush rough. Sure, there are some less watered areas in both, but generally lush conditions. The rough is cut down but still sticky and punitive. The greens are very nice. I have seen them faster but not by much. I’m told the aeration on Monday and Tuesday is small tine. The greens are firmer than usual so it may help with that. Biggest negative about the conditions are the sand traps. I switched to a lob wedge out of them because of the thin sand layer.

Well worth playing if in the area.

Played on Tuesday, the 16th, around 8:30 am. Rode from the blue tees as a single behind a couple of foursomes of ladies. The group in front of me had some difficulties and it seemed really slow but the POP ended up being around 4:10.

The conditions were pretty much the same as last time except they were aerating the fairways on the back nine and I assume were going to do the ones on the front also. I did not see the Local Rule at the clubhouse saying lift, clean and place and I had some mud on my ball a couple of times from the work. I did lift and place on 18 after ending up in an aeration hole on the drive.

Really nice to get out here again. Just beautiful. My wife and I had lunch at the cafe on Wednesday. My wife commented on how good the food was for a golf course diner. The crowd was evenly split between golfers and locals stopping for a bite to eat. Another reason to recommend the course!

I recently ventured out to the stunning Eastern Sierras for the Bishop Little League Golf Fundraiser, accompanied by some friends who are proud locals from Mono County. Playing at Bishop Country Club always brings me joy, and this weekend was no different. The Saturday shotgun start unfolded seamlessly, thanks in large part to the exceptional staff who consistently go above and beyond.

As RDDenns' reviews accurately describe, the fairways were in excellent condition, with only a few areas marked as GUR (Ground Under Repair) scattered throughout. The rough was approximately 2 inches tall, enough to challenge your swing and add an element of difficulty. The sand traps were a mixed bag; some were equipped with fresh sand, while others were still in need of attention. (The club is expected to complete the sand renovations by October.) The greens, however, were nothing short of spectacular—among the best I've encountered all year. Despite a few divots, I had trouble finding any real issues. They rolled smoothly, with a medium pace, and were receptive to most shots, making for an enjoyable putting experience.

The tee boxes were decent overall but are in dire need of leveling. On Sunday morning, they were soaking wet and nearly unplayable due to the excessive watering, which made for a tricky start to the day.

The course layout is designed for enjoyment and strategically favors players who can execute a draw off the tee. We tackled the tips both days, playing a total distance of 6,600 yards. Thanks to the elevation and generous landing areas, the course does not present an overly daunting challenge. With a course rating of 70.8 for this par 71, much of the difficulty arises from the longer par 3s, with four out of five measuring over 180 yards. Overall, the experience was both memorable and exciting, showcasing the beauty of the course and towering Sierra Mountains.

Played again on Friday, July 25, teeing off before 8:00 am. I played with two older gentlemen from June Lake and a single from the LA area, all riding. Nice congenial group. We played in about 4:15 although it felt longer. I walked playing from the blue tees.

The conditions were the same except they had rolled the greens and they were fantastic. Fast and true. I played out of bunkers on ## 1 and 2, wet dirt both times. Not much dirt on the first I should add. I was in a bunker on #15 with new nice sand. An excellent surface to hit from. Hopefully they will complete improving them soon.

I bought bug spray before my round on Wednesday and did not need it. On Friday, I had to spray myself on #5 after seeing one mosquito on my arm and others hovering nearby. The back nine is usually worse for them so I appreciated the early warning!

The course is well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Played this morning at about 8:15 am after walking up about 7:45. Arnie in the pro shop came out to the putting green and directed me to join two other guys. Great, professional customer service as usual. It was fairly slow out there with a 4:20 POP. Nice time though with a couple of locals. $55 to walk. Nice to walk the course again, I had not done so since I stopped carrying my bag about 12 years ago. The course is flat and the weather cooperated for a really good experience.

The course is in nice mid-summer shape. There are some bare spots in the fairways. Generally, though, the fairways and rough are very nice. We did not lose any balls in the rough because it was cut too low for that to happen but it was a factor. The sand traps I was in were pretty good. They had new sand in a few but I was not in any of them. The tees had the same crowning issues and on one par 3 the tee markers were set up on a down slope which made no sense. I had to go back a club or two length to get a good lie. The greens were great, nice fast pace and rolling really nicely. They looked beautiful too. Really a pleasure to play on.

Great to get out here again. Best of all, the mosquitoes are not out in force yet considering it is still cool in the mornings. Recommend highly.

Played Thursday, May 8, at about 8:45 am on a beautiful spring day with temperature in the 70s. Great service by the pro shop in getting me out, starting on the back nine. We ate lunch the day before on the patio outside the restaurant, nice people and good service. The food was good also. Played in about 3.5 hours, starting out as a solo rider, playing the black tees, played through a single and joining another single on #13 (our fourth hole) through 18, finally playing the front nine alone behind a twosome following a couple of foursomes. Everyone was moving along though.

The course is in excellent shape. There were some thin areas in some fairways and on the tees but overall the course was lush. Generally good surface in the fairways. The rough was about 3/4 a ball height. The tees did have some mounding but I could find flat areas. The bunkers were a mixed bag with little sand in two of the three I was in.

The greens were great. Fairly fast, looking really nice, and rolling true. I was hurt a couple of times by more break than I read. They were the highlight of the course.

The course is playing well if you are in the area. Highly recommended.

Played Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Considering the Tri-County fair was going on and holiday weekend, the course was relatively uncrowded. I walked on at about 8:15 am and was immediately sent to the tee riding as a solo single. Quite a few twosomes and threesomes out there, and one foursome with three cheerful toddlers hanging out in the golf carts, but I was able to play through three groups not counting the one that stopped at the coffee shop after nine as I drove by. Loved the easy going etiquette of the other players. Got around in a shade under 2.5 hours.

The course is a mixed bag. There is a sign at the entrance to the pro shop apologizing that they had overseeded the course. I was told it was because of burned out areas from the summer heat. The rough was not as lush as I have seen it in the past and there were some thin burned out areas in some fairways, but overall it was better than expected after seeing the sign. Very playable. The tee boxes were just okay. They seem to become more crowned each year so one has to search for a flat lie.

The greens were excellent. I was told on the first tee by a guy walking off the course that the greens were slower than they looked. I found them to be slower than normal, medium speed or faster as they dried out. They rolled really well although I left a few downhill putts short.

Great service as always from the pro shop. Friendly and professional. The coffee shop was packed as I left with late breakfast/early lunch crowd. I think the deck outside has really helped business there.

Highly recommended if in the area. Do try to use bug repellent though. While it was not as bad as I have seen it in the past, I forgot the spray and I have some mosquito bites to show for it.

The course was in nice shape. Fairway and rough were lush and in good shape. The bunkers were decent. The tees were okay with some I had to search for a level lie. The greens were the highlight. They were as fast as any greens I have played this year. One of my playing partners said they must have rolled them as they were faster than normal. They rolled great also. Really fun putting day.

Most of the water features did not have water. I played out of the one on the second hole and had a par putt (that I missed).

Overall, I had a great time and really enjoyed the round. I’ll be back.

First time back in almost 6 years and this course is still awesome. I was planning on playing Sierra Star but they closed the monday before my arrival. Bishop is always a good choice for off season golf near mammoth lakes. When arriving I noticed the course was very green all around. I guess they have had a lot of thunderstorms this summer and the extra water has made this place extra nice.

Greens were by far the highlight of the course. Smooth fast and receptive just the way I like them. I found reading the green was a lot tougher but that may have been the 2+ month layoff from golf. Fairways were very nice with at least 1/2 of them in super lush shape. A few areas you could tell were getting less water at the end of the season but still had full coverage. One of the lakes on the front nine was empty but it looked like they might be working on the pump. Sand traps were adequate as well as the tee boxes.

Staff here was very friendly and generally seemed pleased to be there. The carts are starting to show their age with ripped cushions but they did have a sub plug so that is a plus. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it was very busy for noon on a Friday. For $65 riding I thought the price was fair. You could save $10 by walking or wait until 1pm where they drop to 45/35. I would recommend playing while driving up US395.
