I used to really enjoy this course. Interesting and challenging layout. Some scenic views of the back of the slough in Moss Landing. But right now, the greens are a major problem. There's some kind of disease that's destroyed them, and made them unplayable.

It's almost unfair to review or rate this course at the moment. It is clearly having water or disease problems. Greens, fairways, tees are all below the standard of this venerable course. But ... since they don't tell you about these problems on their website, upon making a telephone tee time nor at check in, I suppose it is a service to the golf community to be aware of them. All of the greens have suffered some damage (that brown, dead, military camouflage looking, bumpy, weeds growing in the middle of the greens, sick look) with several being literally 100% affected. The ball will not roll straight. If you make anything over 3 feet it is pure luck. The fairways - never a homogenous looking aspect of the course - is a bit better, but still seems to be bothered by the lack of water. The greens keeping staff was hand watering several areas during our morning round (late July '25) and was notably having to use hoses that were hundreds of yards in length. Clearly a pump or some drastic plumbing problem for this old coastal gem. Tees were bumpy, unlevel and hard. Yikes, this sounds bad. It is still a beautiful course, but not nearly worth the $80 mid-week (with cart). I feel bad for the men's and women's clubs that play there. Scoring is sort of secondary due to the weird conditions. I wouldn't even give it a rating number. It will get better. I've seen ups and downs at this course for a few decades now. If you must play it, enjoy the weather, enjoy the views, have a burger and a brew in the comfortable grill. But be advised, it's not your father's Pajaro Valley at the moment.

Knocking courses off my list and based on Alex326's past review didn't have high expectations. This course is $25 to walk after 3PM. I think on Monday and Tue they run a $50 special that includes a cart. This course reminded me a lot of Lake Chabot in Oakland, which I haven't played in 20 years. It even had the eucalyptus trees and their fragrant aroma. Super hilly layout, especially the back nine. Even though it wasn't a muni the course was in very good muni shape. Maybe new ownership? It struck me as a good work in progress. Many of the fairways were super lush, others not so much. Some fairways were both, so if they tweaked their sprinkler system all the fairways might be very good. Fairways were pretty wide, anything off the fairway was hardpan or gopher holes. The course has many deep green side bunkers. Some had lots of fluffy beach sand and others were on the thin side. I don't remember seeing any fairway bunkers.
The greens were immaculate. Glass smooth and medium fast with subtle breaks. Not a lot of contour but with the hilly layout they had slope. I didn't have a straight putt all day and anything above the hole had to be treated with care. It's a stout walk but manageable, not too busy and I was done in 3hr.
With all the great golf in the area and the spotty conditions history I can see this course being overlooked,Spanish Bay it is not. I believe the rack rates are in the $75 range, so that is ridiculous. However as a late afternoon add on to another course or a place to play on the way home from somewhere else I can recommend checking it out.

I had heard this course had been renovated a couple years ago and much improved. I'll save you the time and money. The course is just not worth it. Track layout isn't bad but the fairways were brown, thin and had a lot of bare spots. Greens were so so, they rolled fairly smooth but we're very slow. Tee boxes were average at best.

A couple holes have views of the slough which is nice but some of the holes back up against a run down neighborhood. I was a single and got paired up with a threesome. We were virtually the only people on the course (there were 4 others 5 holes ahead) and it still took us over 4 1/2 hours. Very frustrating to say the least.

Overall the course is below average.

What a difference a year has made at this venerable course. Greens are back to being what has drawn players here for a long, long time. Clearly a lot of work and assets have been poured into the entire property. From the driving range (formerly, uh, not so great), to restaurant, customer service, maintenance of non-golf areas, fairways, bunkers and greens. A great experience yesterday (6/20/15) on a perfect golf day and we look forward to brining our group back more often (again). If you have stayed away because of the decline, give this place another shot.

2nd round of the day was at Pajaro Valley. I booked a 9:45 time on GN for $51. I just missed snagging the 10:30 "hot deal" for $30-something. That would have been preferable. It was relatively busy out there, but not like what we're used to mid-day Saturday in SoCal. I joined up with a threesome after a few holes and we had a lot of fun. We were stuck behind a slow threesome that was at least 2 holes behind by the end of the round, but we still finished in a little over 4 hours. Staff very nice, but minimal. No marshal or cart girl on a Saturday in summer?

The course was in decent shape, with any watering being focused on the tees, fairways and greens. Fairways mostly green, but inconsistent. Sometimes tight, sometimes a bit too shaggy, with a mix of rye/kikuyu throughout. Rough pretty non-existent and a lot of bare spots, especially the further you get off the fairways. Plenty of gopher mounds here and there. Bunkers decent. Greens good.

This is a decent course. Very hilly layout without too many flat lies. A little rough around the edges, but a fun design. I doubt I'd go out of my way to play again, but I'm glad I played it today and found it enjoyable overall. I thought all of the par-3s were strong and there are some other memorable holes and views of Elkhorn Slough, which I'm told is a good spot for kayaking.

I have been playing Pajaro for many years and the condition of the course as well as the clubhouse has been getting worse over the past few years. Until a couple of years ago, the greens were some of the best around. This past year there has been a problem with disease and there are some bare spots and other areas still recovering. The club house is a joke. There is virtually no merchandise. They offer $25 vouchers to the club house and another $25 to the restaurant as part of a promotional membership for their Players Club. The $25 for the restaurant is fine but the $25 for the club house is worthless. I have a collection of these building up and I keep hoping they will eventually get some inventory.

played 7-22 early morning. tee boxes where hit and miss some in nice shape while others where almost bare. fairways where a little thin on the front side but more lush on the back. rough was not that high kind of hard to till difference from fairway to rough off the tee box. found one bunker which was thin and wet. greens ranged from good to poor some soft some hard all slow. o k track with wide tree lined fairways.

Stopped by on our way home from the 49er game on Friday morning. Never heard of this course before, partner had played it a couple of times in a mens tourney and raved about it. Got our discounted tee time on ez-links for $28 with cart which is a great deal for this course. Very impressed with the overall conditions of this course. Plays very long from the tips but is still a good challenge from the interm tees. Greens are sloped mostly and if your not below the hole on most of them, its trouble. Very fast but true greens, fairways were very nice, tee box's decent. Only slight complaint was the sand was thin in most traps I was in but playable. Back nine gave me fits, especially 12-17 but was fun. Great price for this course and a good challenge of your putting skills.
