Playing Pebble is a treat and we picked a perfect day. Low 60’s, sunny and not a lick of wind. To make it better, we took advantage of the NCGA offer of $100 off and $50 gift card for the club house. Let me start with the negatives and keep in mind I had a fantastic time. They are in the process of setting up for the AT&T (3 weeks from now) and let’s just say I don’t think the workers play golf. They certainly weren’t concerned about making noise. It only happened 3 or 4 times, but you’d think they would be a little more courteous. Then there was the bunkers and I’m being a little picky. Some bunkers were wet and heavy. Some bunkers had very little sand resulting in the club bouncing unexpectedly. Other than that, there’s not much to complain about. The course is awesome. We read the greens pretty well, but didn’t make a lot of putts. Tons left right around the hole. I’m certainly no expert on Pebble but there are a couple holes you should club up on your approach (14 and 18). Most everything does break towards the ocean. 7 plays one club less (depending on the wind). Do yourself a favor, stick some money aside and play this course at least once in your life. It’s a special place and it makes you feel special playing it.
