A quick update on the conditions at Dragonfly. Fairways and tee boxes are in nice shape, rated at a solid 7-7.5. Sand traps are constantly being improved. The one greenside bunker I was in had decent sand and a couple others looked like they had just been topped off with an abundance of new fluffy sand. The greens however, were full of pitch marks. A number of times the putt would be altered in direction after hitting a bump (pitch mark). Dragonfly boasts that they only aerate their greens once a year (in June) I think they need to revisit that policy. I can't imagine what these greens will look like come February and March if they don't get some attention. Other than that, the course is good to go with a fun layout that offers some challenging holes yet gives you enough scoring holes to keep you sane.

The onslaught of triple digit weather in the valley is starting to show. The course is still in decent to nice shape but there are now some brown spots and thin lies in the fairways throughout the course. Greens have held up and still have plenty of life in them. Greens are receptive to approach shots and only a few had some bumpiness to them from ball marks.

Overall rating for the course is around a 7-7.5. As others have mentioned NO WATER on the course?!?! In two years they went from having bottled water in coolers stationed throughout the course to No Water at all.

Overall, it's a fun track with above average (for Muni courses) conditions.

Played 6/30 with a mid Am tee time on a Hot valley day. (101+) Course location is in Madera (outskirts) along a river basin. River not in play but a few a holes (6?) with water hazards. The 16th did in my back 9 score with two in the aqua and another in the weeds. Only a 150yd shot to the back pin.
Conditions consistent with the previous reviews. Greens rolling good overall conditions B+
Big sign in pro shop advising NO WATER ON COURSE bring some! Beverage cart three times during the round. A bit slow because of tournament. Good practice area with shade umbrellas for relief.
First time golfing in southern central valley and would play again when looking for golf in this area.

Played mid day yesterday on a nice hot Central Valley summer day. Given the recent spell of triple digit heat the course was in fantastic shape. Maintenance crew were out all afternoon watering the greens and fairways. Greens rolled true and a medium pace. Most greens are pretty manageable with modest breaks and undulations.

Fairways were in great shape. I know Dragonfly prices are a little higher than most courses in the valley but when you see the shape of the course given the recent heat wave, it's worth it. Tee boxes were decent and sand traps are hit and miss. However, I did manage to get up and down out of the bunkers 2 out 3 times so I guess they can't be that bad.

Layout is flat, with a couple water hazards thrown in to keep you honest. A lot of people say it's a tough course but it seems to fit my eye and I always enjoy playing it.

A definite go to track when in the valley.

Played 6-3-18 The course is green everywhere. Tees had only occasional divot areas on par 3s, all other holes were good coverage with a few spots where they have started to settle and have slight uneven lies, but always able to find an area that is flat. Rough has been let to grow out slightly and is actually a good barrier against offline balls going into the deep trouble. Greens were fantastic, smooth and on the fast side. The course was surprisingly wet in many areas and made the course play longer and made run up shots a roll of the dice. (many shots require this approach or chipping technique and the soggy surrounds took away the option on many holes) Sand was very hit and miss, rock hard to perfect for the bunkers our group members played. WATER for drinking!!! There are no fountains or spigots on course. There used to be a few coolers placed on course with bottled water available. No longer. Temperatures in the Valley are over 100f for basically 3 months straight. It is unacceptable to not have water. One of our group reached heat exhaustion level from dehydration. It would not only be a courtesy to players to find a solution, but is a health issue.

Played early on Mother's Day, May 13. First out as a single, pace of play was not an issue. 2:25. Paid a premium ($80) to get out early but it was worth it so I could be done and spend time with the family. My wife had not had breakfast by the time I was done.

I really like the layout of the course. Some doglegs and some use of strategic bunkering. The conditions were good. The course was quite wet so there was not much roll in the fairways and the greens were slower than later in the day. It was only on the last couple of holes that it they were running normally. They were medium speed. Some roll out if downhill but not what I would consider fast.

It was much greener than the last time I was there. Everything was really lush. Great lie in the fairways. Not much in the way of rough. I was in one greenside bunker and it was good. There was water in the pond on #11 but otherwise I did not see any water in any of the hazard areas.

The rate is a little pricey but I will continue to play when I get a chance because you do get quality for the money.

Hot off the press!!! Dragonfly is finally doing some major maintainance on the sand traps! It looks like they are following suit with other courses in the valley and overhauling the bunkers. I can't wait! Not that it will help my pathetic sand play but that's another story. I was in 6 bunkers today which ranged from poor to ok at best. The good news is that within a few weeks the bunkers should all be very nice.

As for the rest of the course, it's still in great shape. Greens roll smooth and true. I will say that I'm curious about their mowing procedure. The speeds were all over the place on the front nine. They were consistently on the medium/slow side on the back nine.

Fairways are still dormant but very playable. Beverage cart was out making the rounds as well.

Dragonfly is always a go to course while in the valley. Fairways and tee boxes are completely dormant but offer great hitting surfaces. The color of the grass may be brown but the lies are great. The fairways feel like your walking in a soft sponge. That softness did kill any rollout from the driver but offered a very nice hitting surface on approach shots.

Greens were a little firmer than normal but still rolled nicely when putting. This is only my 3rd time walking the track. Whereas it is a completely flat course there are some long transfers between a few of the holes.

The 18th has now gone from a long par 4 to a short par 5. That is unless you're playing it in the summer afternoon headwind. Then it's a bonafide par 5.

There was no beverage cart out but being a weekday with expected rain, I can totally understand that.

Pace of play is always average here. I was stuck behind a five some who wouldn't let me through for 8 holes then I blasted through the remainder of the course.

All told this is a solid track with very nice playing conditions.
