Won't go into super detail, since this is my 3rd review of this course. But played on Super Bowl Sunday before the game. Got out around 10:30 after the early morning wave. There was a couple groups in front of me, playing as a single. First thing, the course was still EXTREMELY wet in places. Was really shocked it was not cart path only. There was a lot of areas that carts had been through and tore up the turf pretty badly. But most of every fairway was still playable. The worst fairway would probably have been Hole 11, due to the fact the fairway is at a slope from left to right and how the water drains into the waste area on the right. That brings me to my next point, a lot and I mean a lot of the bunkers had standing water in them. Some at least an inch to two inches of standing water. We did get hit hard Friday afternoon with a huge storm that dumped in that area! There were a few bunkers that are going to have to be redone I'm sure. Hole 7, the greenside bunker on the left is probably one of the most effected since it sits below the green and is in the bottom of the bowled out area where all the water seemed to collect. A ton of erosion on the face of that bunker. I really hope they lay a ton of new sand in all these bunkers because they had some of the better bunkers in the area. Greens were moist, but not slow at all. They had a lot of the pins in places where there was a lot of break which made putting tough. But kept you honest! Word to the wise.... Get on their email list. They send out weekly discounted rates for certain days but always changing.

First and foremost, I've been playing this course the last few months with extremely cheap price. 39 bucks with cart that has GPS. Can't beat it! Join their email list to get these great rates!!

This course is one of my favorite courses around, not going to go into super detail since my other reviews talk in length about the course, but the new ownership has done great things with the course! Last time I played out here it was windy, so it made th course a little more tricky but still was great! There's nothing bad about this course, only complaint I would say would be is the greens are showing some wear, but that's to be expected after a busy summer I'm sure! But a simple arification will do the trick! But these greens are big, probably the biggest in the area which makes it tricky because they are able to place pins in different places all the time!
Fairways are in great shape, not overalls green but not dry! They are doing their best with water and the heat!
There are a lot of holes you can take different lines off the tees, which makes for a lot of fun!

This was my second round of the day. I knew they had just punched the greens last week thanks to GK, but I also knew they were running a special right now to help balance things out. $29 with a cart was a good enough deal to get me out here. I teed off by myself around 12:10 and played through a couple groups on the front nine. Front only took about 1:15 for me, but then there were several groups waiting on the 10th tee when I made the turn. I had hit the wall, so a couple of the guys I passed earlier and another single joined up with me for the back nine and that helped make things more enjoyable behind all the other groups. Still, things moved along decently and we finished the back in about 2:15. So a total pace of around 3.5 hours was nice. The aerated greens were in pretty rough shape. Bumpy, very sandy and slow. My number rating will reflect that current state, but I know the greens are generally good here, so take that rating with a grain of salt. The fact they do offer discounts after aeration is always a good management approach in my book. Otherwise, the course was in very good condition overall. The tee boxes were good. The fairways were excellent, providing plenty of roll-out and perfect lies every time. The first cut rough was not much of a factor as it was shaved down. There were some little tufts of different grasses/weeds sporadically popping up throughout the rough areas, but they never came into play for me. Then, there's the outer edges of knee-deep "native" rough that will basically be a lost ball if you hit into it. There's plenty of it here and it's well in play on most every hole, so be careful to avoid it! I was in a couple of waste bunkers, which were what they were. I was never in a regular sand trap, though, so no comments there. It was fun playing this course after Kings CC in the morning because they are such different styles. This would be considered more of the "Savannah" style with some links flavor. It plays pretty open with generous landing areas and big, undulating greens, but there are these cool old oak trees peppered throughout the course. Some come into play more than others, but they really provide a nice visual element to keep the course from looking too flat and open. Then, some water hazards come into play on the back nine to make things even more interesting on that side. Barona Creek would be a good comparison for SoCal and it definitely also reminded me of Stevinson Ranch. My feeling is that this is probably the closest local "replacement" option for those that miss Stevinson. Dragonfly stands out on it's own, though, as something worth playing if in the Fresno area.

Played here a couple of days before xmas. They were recovering from a storm the night before but it was still in good swhape. The greens were a bit soggy on a few holes but life goes. Fairways were dormant as are most courses vin Fresno. Its a a shame as this course would be amazing if they overseeded. Its still in my opinion one of the best courses in the area. There are two private courses in the area that i prefer but hands down the best public course in the central valley. POP 3 to 3.5 hrs.

This was my favorite of the three courses we played during my weekend trip to the Fresno area (Eagle Springs, Fig Garden, Dragonfly). We played on Sunday, 11/1/15, at 1PM for the great rate of $30. Dragonfly (formerly Riverbend GC) is built on a low shelf along the north side of the San Joachin River, framed by riverine trees to the south and higher bluffs to the north. The architect is the same guy who did Barona Creek. The feel here is a links-type course in an inland setting, with fairly flat topography, gently rolling terrain, and large greens with wide fairways framed by many bunkers, scattered oaks and natural areas. Interspersed with golf course areas were tilled fields - some areas here are still being cultivated. This course is much more open than Eagle Springs (which had narrow fairways and playing areas) and Fig Garden (heavily restricted by the overabundant trees).

Greens were aerated a few weeks ago and some still show signs of punching. They were soft and receptive and rolled at medium speed. A few of the smaller greens had large areas with almost no grass, and the sandy base badly showed cleat marks and ballmarks. Fairways and the short-cut rough gave good lies and were very playable. Bunkers had a good playing layer, and there are a lot of them! Tees were in good shape, and today all the markers were set up on the front of the appropriate boxes.

A small grill is available for hot food. Staff was very friendly. Large putting green, two chipping greens, driving range with some shade provided. Carts have a good GPS system. Highly recommended.

We played after an NCGA event. The course was in fantastic condition and was set up with thicker than normal rough (wiry wrist breaking stuff) and many greens had difficult pin positions.

Overall-- The great design combined with the improved conditions make this one of the best places to play in the area.

Pace-- 4.5 hours on a Sunday after a tournament in tough conditions and as a fivesome.

Course Conditions-- The greenskeeping work by the new owners and the tournament setup was a pleasure to play.

Staff-- Friendly and helpful.

Value-- Though above average area rates the quality makes the price worthwhile. (you city dudes would think it's a steal)

Food-- Limited but good, this was built as a players course so the shop/bar is small. Not sure if there are plans to expand.

Facilities-- Great practice facilities and everything is well maintained.

I highly recommend a round or several for local players and for travelers this is one to put on your list.

I really like the fact that Dragonfly re-routed the golf course, making the front the back, and vice versa. The new back nine (old front) is definitely more difficult, so I like having the easier nine to get up to speed. The course is in good shape, once again. And the GPS on the carts also allow you to summon the cart girl (which we did on several occasions), as well as to order food to pick up at the turn. I like this new technology. My only complaint was that they insist that you drop your golf bags when you arrive, and they will not allow you to take a cart out to the parking lot. Not sure why they care so much about this, but it is kind of a nuisance. I personally like loading/unloading my own clubs in the cart, out by my vehicle. Otherwise, I had a great day on 8/16/15.

Wanted to update my older review on this course.

There is a new owner to Riverbend, and they've changed it to Dragon Fly. But the name change is probably the most smallest of changes compared to the course.

The first thing you can notice is the new management actually has put a sign on HWY 41 to let people actually know there is a golf course out that way. They've redone the parking lot, and have an attendant out in the newly created round-a-bout to take your clubs and hook them up to a cart. But my group and I just kept on going, because we walked that morning.

Next, is that biggest change of all. They flipped the course. Now the back is the front and the front is the back. Which makes total sense because the old back used to put you right back to the parking lot, and not into the club house. This is where the club used to lose a lot of money in my opinion. Now you come off the old 9 and you have to go by the clubhouse, and most stop and grab a drink and a bite to eat. Spending money, is the name of the game!

Now back to the course, the course is essentially the same course, but the greens are in GREAT shape when we played. The one noticeable difference to the course is that they took all the tully's out of the water, so your sight lines are no longer obstructed, and an easy roller can make it into the water, instead of catching up in the tully's. Overall the course is the same, and you can see that they are putting money into it, which is good, because it is one of the better courses in the area. Shot an 80 which is one of my best rounds out there!

I typically enjoy playing this course. Was out last week and if the wind is blowing this course can get pretty challenging! Fairways are in great shape. Greens were tough because they had been punched about 4 weeks prior, so had a couple 3 putts, but I am sure that will be fine within a few weeks. The one hole that worries me is the long Par 4 9th. The green looks in real bad shape. Was playing with some other guys that agreed that it looks like they might lose it. So many dead spots and on top of that it was punched. Hopefully they can get it together and fix it. The rest of the course is in great shape. Love the back 9, especially 13, either over the two big Oak trees and go for birdie or bring it around and play for par. If you fly it over the Oaks, you do not see the small pot bunkers that can eat any ball that misses the fairway. Overall solid course! Twilight is $35 with a cart M-Th. Will not pay $75 bucks on the weekend though!
