Just played the course today and the fairways and rough were not in very good condition. There were a lot of barren areas and the fairways were not very lush or cut very well. With that being said, the greens were in excellent condition. They ran very true and were not bumpy at all. Probably, one of the top greens I've every played on a public course. Too bad the rest of the course wasn't in that great condition because the layout is pretty good.

Of all the county(non private) courses in Kern County, Sycamore Canyon is by far the best, sometimes the conditions can be rough, but as of right now 12/12/07 the greens are by far the best in the county. The staff is freindly and the views of the mountains are spectacular at times. Come and play you will not be dissapointed.

AC1Chuck - Tehachapi
Starting to branch out from the AV and Tehachapi to try some new tracks... Arrived at Sycamore Canyon 10 mins til our tee time. Pro Shop person/starter was very congenial and set us on our way before our tee time. Cart was in new/as new condition, no GPS. Scorecard could use a map of the holes. Some teeboxes had no map/signage. Being the first half of March, the course was OK condition. Numerous brown patches in the fairways, patchy clover mounds in the first cut of rough easily swallowed a few of my hits, some were found, some weren't. Greens we just punched and sanded this week, taking the break and finesse out of most putts. Some water hazards were dry. Overall, an enjoyable round, great restaurant and a challenging 18 holes.

Great course for $19.00 on a sunday to walk. A good test. By the way, replay rate is....$0.00!!!! Called the day before and got a 7:38 tee time. Walked in under 4 hours. Staff very friendly, and only 1 hour 6 minutes from Valencia. Talked with the starter and he told me to tell everyone to come play, as they are hurting for business. Punching is already done and healed up 100%. Wheeler Ridge road is open to traffic after being closed for over a year, so the drive there is back to normal.
