It was a warm day today (90). There is no water on the course to drink and no beverage cart!

Played De Laveaga on 8/7 and the course was in fair to good condition overall. Fairways were mostly on the thin side but didn't cause any problems. Green damage was limited to ball marks, some fixed, some not, but a high approach shot didn't seem to make too large a hole to fix and all were interesting to try and read. Traps were dry on top, but wet underneath the first layer of sand. Great views of Monterey Bay from the 15th and 17th tee boxes. Course can get tight in some areas and #10 is a monster of the first order...dogleg left with a massive hazard on the left side as you try to hit your second shot. #7 seems to be a short par 4 but what you don't see from the tee box is a tree behind the small ravine that will tend to block your approach shot if you get too far down the hill. Friendly staff and it's a course you should try and play at least once if you're in the Santa Cruz area.

The 18th used to be a great finishing par 5, but they moved the green up and turned it into a nothing 4.

Score on the front. #10 serves notice about the back nine.

Don't let the yardage fool you, and now after the renovations the course is one tough par 70! I really like the improvemnts made to the entire course from cart paths to tee boxes to 3 new greens! You better hit em straight not much room for error thru out entire course! If your looking for a good test this one will serve it up for you! Be ready to use every club in the bag!
