OK, here's hoping for a drier March

Had lots of plans to golf in February. On February 1st got in 36 holes ... then the rain came, and snow ... then I caught a bad cold. Reboot!

Weather permitting ... new buzz words in California ... I'll be in Monterey this Monday playing 36 holes that includes my Team GK Cup Match.

Got in one last tune up round before the big Fashion show... I mean team match on Monday! Had 11 Pars but no birdies. Not sure if I used up all my pars before the match or saved up all my birdies. Time will tell.

81 at Costa Mesa CC Mesa Linda. Ball striking was good but had some issue with chipping on the Kikuya grass

85 at Mt. Woodson yesterday for my Gk Match. Drove the ball well, Approaches generally good, putting was fine, Major issues were shots from he wet fairways resulting in chunked chips and skull'd shots. Did have two Birdies so that's a plus.

Tough conditions last Sunday at Crystalaire cc. Sprinklings of rain in the morning only but the winds and gusts were on for the day with fast greens. Managed an 82 and I was very pleased. 39 front 42 back. +1 on par 3s, +7 on par 4s, and +2 on par 5s. 0 eagles, 0 birdies, 10 pars, 6 bogeys, & 2 double bogies.

3/1: Costa Mesa CC Mesa Linda, 88. The shorter course helped. Hit 1 fairway, 3 GIR, but only 31 putts and no penalties. Drives were not real bad, only a few fanned hard right or left.

3/4: Angel Park Mountain, 96. Tale of 2 nines with the driver, absolute lasers and could not miss the fairway on the front (5/7), only 1 fairway on the back (#18, a 280 yard bomb). No matter how close I put myself from the tee, I could not hit a wedge correctly, everything below a 9 iron was shanked, topped, thinned, or duffed. Burned the edge on putts all day, including 3 from off the green that I still 2 putted after.

Opened up March with visit to Monterey on the one non-raining day of the week Monday. Tons of fun with Mattias, Alex326 and dbev606 as you probably already read in the GK Cup Team results.

First round was a Quail Lodge & Golf Club, place immaculate yet wet of course. Front nine was playing conservative hitting 2-irons off the tee. By the back nine was letting the driver takes some rips more and more. Felt good off the tee and put the hot dog putter back in the bag. Shot 44-40 from the gold tees for a 84.

Second round at Spanish Bay (first time playing and loved it), was hitting my driver great all day. We played the gold tees that are about 6500 but the golf course being wet played much longer. Irons started to click. Was putting OK. Sand game was stellar. Was only 7 over after 15 holes but then darkness set in, we started to rush and my game did not like that. Ended up shooting an 83.

GK Scoretracker index now 7.8. First time I've seen my index in the 7's in over 3 years. Will need to keep playing well to keep it that low. Funny game. Round before this trip I shoot an even 100 at River Ridge.
