I'll give you one of the worst ever ranges to practice at and it is located on a beautiful golf course.

1) MATS ONLY, no grass...These mats are so old, they have been shredded of any artificial grass.
The mats have their OWN undulations like a green would, no real flat spots.

2) Range balls are all different colors, these have NO dimples on them, even BALD tires get replaced, NOT here!!!
I'd swear these golf balls were used when my wife & I were first dating, that's how old they are.
A white ball has so many marks on it you can barely tell if it was ever a white color golf ball from the factory.

3) Narrow as can be, lucky to get 20 mat stations accross from each other, too tight, you almost feel like your going to get nailed by someone's backswing..the Truth.

4) ONE small putting green..good luck on a weekend or if it's busy...It would be easier to putt on the carpet back at the room.

HINTS ANYONE? It's located in San Diego County, kind of an out of the way place but the course is worth playing for sure!

"San Vicente in Ramona, CA"

Haven't played there in quite some time but grass tees were available on the range, which is why I suspected Meadow Lake, whose range "facility" is one of the worst I've encountered.

"Hello, as anyone considered rating practice areas, turf conditions, range ball quality etc, Thanks, CGG..."

When composing a review for GK, I'll usually mention the conditions of the practice facility if I happen to spend some time warming up prior to beginning play. Turf quality, ball condition, visual targets, short game areas/putting green...I try to cover all aspects.

Each time I've been to San Vicente, always had us hit off mats, never grass...Maybe because it was a Saturday?

Member Hogan thanks for the inquiry. But as Addicted and 1Plus said if you play a course with a practice facility do mention about the conditions there. This site is about golf courses and their conditions and that includes the practice facility.

There will be no rating for it just informational blurbs from our membership will do for now.

Short Answer no. But add your golf course practice facility conditions to your golf course review when you post a golf course review here on GK!

Thanks!!
