Having just bought 2 pairs of new shoes... I am wondering if I should spend $40 for 2 shoe trees. It is said, they help dry the shoes but, playing in the rain and such... does it really help that much? I take great care of my shoes but as it stands right now, I have a pair that MUST go in the trunk.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? |

| Thursday July 12, 2012 2:32 PM Not including athletic shoes, I have about 15 pairs of shoes, and several pairs of golf shoes. I put shoe trees in all of them. (not the athletic shoes). I've been doing this for years. There is no doubt that this keeps my shoes in much better condition. I always purchase a shoe tree when I purchase a new pair of shoes. You don't have to spend $20 per shoe tree. I got several new ones from Bed, Bath, and Beyond for about $14 each. |

I use them on my golf shoes and especially my dress shoes. I have a pair of Italian leather shoes that are over 30 yrs old (they have been resoled and heeled), also a pair of Stacy Adams bought both pair on sale $80 each back in the day. Two pairs of golf shoes that I alternate, usually respike them once maybe twice, they last 18 months to 2 years sometimes longer.
I also spray the inside with a foot spray.> > It is nothing new or original to say that golf is played one stroke at a time. But it took me many years to realize it.

Definitely, Shaun. Shoe care is a must. I just got 4 shoe trees for my 4 new pairs of FootJoys. (ha ha) Cedars were just on sale for $9.00 each. Check out golflocker.com. $40 for 2 is well,. it's a bit much, I think. . . though it's a good thing that you have'em. . . it's must be quality stuff. Good for you, man.
Mink oil is also one thing that I apply almost year round. But the shoe tree will help keep the form and if it's cedar, it will help absorb the moisture. . . your leather, if it is leather, will last longer. One of my DryJoys are about 8 years old and they are just perfectly shaped and feel good like new all the time. . .hmmm . . maybe a few scratches. (he he) The FootJoy Icons are very stylishly formal. . . love those. Contour Casuals are so fun . . like a rough and ready golf. (lol) But I apply to all the same treatment. I have a collection, but not quite like Ian Poulter like. . . ha ha.
Let's see a picture of your shoes!

[[Edited by noeldaof on Thursday July 12, 2012 7:08 PM]] It's never the same each round-- even on the same course. The fun is all about making it better than the last time.
So many good people in golf-- just about everywhere I play. The fun is to go out and play with them.

That's cool, Mike! . . . may you never need to spend anymore than you need to. My shoes, if I didn't use a shoe tree tend to curl up more and more as they get older. Good thing I put a shoe tree in them. . . if I didn't and they were pointed toes, it will probably look like an elf's pair on me (lol) It's never the same each round-- even on the same course. The fun is all about making it better than the last time.
