My kneejerk reaction was only mild interest cuz I much prefer stroke play. But I've grown to really love this format.

Each match is like a final round and the strategies available are all over the place. And, the tension that occurs when a shortish putt is NOT given, is pretty fun to watch.

In stroke play, the final round is usually the only time to watch and then only if it's a horse race. And, if it is a horse race, then it's must watch for only a couple 3 players. Match play has a lot to offer.
