Good luck with the cross-country move. You landed in a good spot, as Michigan is by far one of the most golf-rich states in the union! The catch is that the season is short.

I've only played 3 courses in MI and loved them all. That was more on the western edge of the state, though. Tullymore/St. Ives resort has two fantastic and different style courses. Then Arcadia Bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan is in my personal Top 5 of all time. It's kind of like Bandon Dunes on steroids (with a little bit of crazy pills thrown in). North end of state is loaded. Where you are at will also be reasonably close to northern Indiana (Pete Dye heaven--or hell depending on your opinion of his courses) and Ohio. Good golf in every direction!

Michigan is certainly one I want to go back and explore further.

I second and concur with Arcadia Bluffs. But pricey. But worth the trip.

Also, Timberstone, Iron Mt and Treetops Resort, Gaylord.

I doubt these are the type of courses you are looking for to play on a regular basis? But certainly these courses (as well a sixpez suggestions) are worth the time to visit.

And there are so many good courses in MI (though sad to say a short season) you no doubt will have many to choose from without any problem.

Best of luck on your move and new adventures in MI.

If forgot to mention that Rick Smith (Phil's instructor as well as Jack and many others) is in MI. Why not go top shelf?
