Just a rant.. . Soboba finally has their online booking back on. $89 in am and $69 after 1pm. On Tuesday they are $69 and $59 after 1pm. I know its a nice course, however I'm sure they are alienating a lot of regulars. I'd rather go to diamond valley and hemet golf club a few times for that price. Or drive up to oak valley and morongo for less. Just checked oak and morongo 20 dollars less to play on sunday morning. Better courses imo. On the plus side you'll have the course to yourself if you do book with them. Or drive 45min to oak quarry or the desert for that price. Talk about sticker shock!! Hope it works out for them. Btw last I played there, veterans day. We had a 650 tee time. Frost delay till 830. Sent us out with a tournament. They had two that morning. The regular couple I see there all the time got to tee off at 830 from first hole and finished by 1130. . They started us on 13th hole. 5 hours in and we only did 13 holes . Did 13 to 17 twice. Didnt get to see the front 9 that day...

You knew the prices were gonna go up with the new casino and all. I do agree that moromgo is better for the price now.

When I heard they were building a casino right on the course, I knew a very good thing was quickly coming to an end. I can't say I won't play there again though. I just hope the GPS system was/will be updated, I was completely lost for about 3 holes last time, lol

Well if they have a nice new fleet of carts like pechanga with the gps. I can understand price increase. I'll have to investigate!!

Not a surprise they are jacking up the rates, though like you I would have expected a little more window of reasonable pricing before the new resort/casino officially opens up.

Remember that when the tribe first bought Soboba and renovated the course/clubhouse previously, they really raised the golf rates a lot from their very cheap rates before that. However, with the economy, drought and remote location, it didn't do that well as a "high-end" club and eventually settled back into the great rates we have gotten used to in recent years. Obviously, the new resort/hotel will be a bigger draw than the simple old casino they have now. I would expect them to hold tight on the higher golf rates for awhile, though I could see things settling down (at least a little) over time based on the course's overall demand.

Looks like the new resort will be pretty nice, but it's still an obscure location without much else around in San Jacinto. Morongo, Agua Caliente, Spa, San Manuel, Fantasy Springs, Pechanga, etc. are all so much more convenient and large casino resorts in more populated areas of Riverside/SB Counties. Sure they'll do fine at Soboba because the casino will always make big money, but it still won't be as big a draw as the other big names and the course will lose more regular/local play with the high rates. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds.

I do wish I had gotten out to the "revised" course before this rate hike, though. Glad you posted this, Gus.

Completely agree with OPs comments. Even when this was a bargain course it was always so dang remote we’d usually opt to play somewhere closer. It’s not like Soboba is such a huge draw as a casino either. They’ll learn soon enough.
