My Quest for the last decade or so has been to play every public course from Soule Park down to San Clemente and up to Shandin Hills. So, now I'm basically down to four courses left. Shandin Hills, San Clemente Municipal, Seabee Golf Club and Arroyo Trabuco.

All of these are a hike from LAX area where I live but maybe an invite from a fellow GKer will inspire me to travel to play one of these.

Keep me in mind!

In case my potential GK Cup match on Presidents Day doesn’t finalize itself tomorrow, I’d play Arroyo Trabuco with you Monday if you’re free. It’d be an even longer trek from SD for me but if it helps you get a course off your checklist...

I love San Clemente Muni. If you play it on a weekend, hit me up.

Seabee was always rough around the edges but had a fun course layout.

Word to the wise... get there in plenty of time. They were a royal pain with security WAY before any other military course was.

Last time I played there was in a charity tournament. After showing your DL and clearing security at the gate, the guards made us park off to the side of the gated entrance. They then called the golf course and a representative from the pro shop had to come down to the gate in a cart and personally escort all golfers and their bags to the golf course. Have not played there since, and that was approximately 15 years ago.

The goal is long and straight! But on the many times I cannot seem to hit them straight, I at least want to hit them long!

+1 on what Nick said about Seabee. If I remember right I had to "apply" for a pass ahead of time. Once I received my pass I was able to drive in to meet up with some friends. The course itself has some quirkiness but it also has some character. I remember the front nine and back nine were like playing two different golf courses(front had some nice challenging doglegs, huge trees and makes players bend the driver left and right). Back nine was more open from what I can remember. They have some good low deals on some of the retail discount sites from time to time. Fun layout and a course you should play at least once. I am thinking maybe spring and summer might be better condition wise.

Shandon Hills was one of my favorites at one time. The last time I played there the smell of urine was overpowering. On the bac nine we had a police helicopter circling over us for a couple holes. Not in a big hurry to return. Hope beyond hope they get things under control there as its just an hour down the mtn. But San Bernardino GC is just as convenient and safer!

San Bernardino GC closed last year.

Shandin is a much better layout than SBCC was. Course conditions and overall experiences will vary. I've had some really fun experiences there and some that were definitely forgettable. Don't recall a urine smell (may just be SB's natural "musk"), but the trains and freeway can be loud on certain holes.
