Will be playing a solo round on Sunday. Which course should I play? I will be playing a round then go directly to the airport so if either has shower facilities, it would be great.

I played Teal Bend last time I was in Sacramento. I remember it being a pretty decent course and not too crowded. I enjoyed the layout as well because in SoCal there aren't many courses with lots of trees.

It's a fun track and right next to the airport. Don't believe they have showers in locker room?

Played Timber Creek several years ago and is a nice course but is about 25 miles east from SMF. As all have already mentioned, Teal Bend is about 10 minutes away from SMF and is a real nice course. Love the layout there, particularly the back 9. No showers there however. I always try to play Teal Bend when returning from a trip to the Sacramento area so I can get to the airport quickly after a round.

Agree with the replies written. Both courses are good. Timber Creek located in or near a Sun City (over 55) community and as such many holes lined with homes. Teal Bend near the Sacramento river and the AG fields rice patties. More rural feel.

Travel time to SMF easier from Teal but with light traffic (not 4-6pm) Timber is 30 minutes to airport.

Choices for golf in the Sacramento area are many and I'm happy about that.

Sorry i forgot to mention that I will be staying at Thunder Valley resort on saturday and will play on Sunday. So Timber Creek is actually on the way to the airport for me.

OR:

Is it worth going to Yocha Dehe (extra 1 hour for total drive)?

That's the "value" bet; a betta price is the course that's nice IMO.

Staying at TV casino opens the option of playing Whitney Oaks in Rocklin it's owned by Thunder Valley now (two or three years?) Not sure if guests get a break on green fees. It's a Johnny Miller design that's interesting and tight. (he buries elephants under some of the greens) I've reviewed Whitney many times. More character and a step or two up on challenge level from Timber.

Now Yocha DeHe? One of the best kept courses in the area. And that would be from SF to the foothills. Always a pleasure to play here and the opinions are about the same from any avid player. It's near the top level of courses available for public play. Save that one for when you stay at that casino. Cache Creek. Again I've reviewed this course here on GK.

That's all.
Get out and play... It's just fun!
