Hey gang ... My niece is getting married in downtown Mendocino next month. I'd like to organize a golf outing for my four brothers and three bro-in-laws on the Friday before (the rehearsal dinner is that evening, so I don't want to stray too far away). Any thoughts on courses in/around Mendocino? Thanks!

The Links at Bodega Harbour is a great course with reasonable rates and is a blast to play. But it's about 2-2.5 hrs south of Mendocino.

Check under Sixpez. He is very familiar with that area. He should have detailed info on his postings? Or on his website. That would be the one I would search.

Looks like Ukiah Valley is the only course remotely near Mendocino. Only 1.5 hours away!

I played Sea Ranch a few years ago. Nice track but its at least 1 1/2 hours south
I think there is a 9 hole track in the redwoods closer i'm sure Sixpez knows it

It has been 10+ years since I played in the region. There are not many golf options from Mendocino. The closest course is Little River GC 10 minutes south. It is a 9 hole, par 35, course. Decent enough course. The course is part of Little River Inn which has a good restaurant (At least it was good back then). Sea Ranch is an 18 hole links style course 50 miles south in Gualala. I found the course enjoyable to play. Played the course a few times driving from Caspar (3 miles north of Medocino). Always left before dawn so traffic was minimal. I think it took me just over an hour to drive. It might take a little longer later in the day. Ukiah Golf course (18 hole par 70) is 60ish miles and will take longer to drive to than Sea Ranch. I have not play Ukiah. Hope the info helps. Have a good trip.

Good call on reminding me of Keith's blog! There is only one course: Little River Inn 6 miles south of downtown Mendocino. He has some real nice things to say about it. It's 9 hole, but with different tee boxes if you play it twice. Sounds perfect for my band of brothers.

My ears are burning! Yes, Little River Inn is your easiest option and it’s a pretty decent 9-holer with some ocean views. Driving in and out of Mendocino/Ft. Bragg is rough, so the others aren’t that convenient. As you’ve already seen, Sea Ranch and Ukiah Valley (ranked in that order) are your nearest 18-hole courses, but tough drives (especially to Sea Ranch and back on that gnarly stretch of the 1). Bodega is awesome, but an even longer drive. Brooktrails in Willits isn’t too bad a drive, but it’s just a dumpy par-3 course (even though it’s in a cool redwood grove). Then you have Northwood, which is the famous MacKenzie 9-holer in the redwoods, but also highly inconvenient from Mendocino. For a casual outing, Little River will probably suffice unless you are up for a bigger adventure. Have fun!
