Didn't really know much about Cypress Point other than seeing pictures of 16/17 and awe-struck commentary on TV and in magazines over the years.

Received an email with a link from Golf Digest with a drone video tour of all 18 holes and commentary from Jim Nance (LOL).

It's a gorgeous course and, man, that's a LOT of sand!!

GK Event, Johnny?!

Good luck with that idea. They even got rid of the pga because the members did not want to give up their course.

I have been fortunate enough to have played Cypress Point Club a couple of times, so it was a real treat to watch the video. It has been over 20 years since I last played there, but still remember many of the holes just like it was yesterday. I recommend that you take a look at the video as it really captures some of the charm of this great course.

They now only allow 8 players a day on the course! From what I was told through a friend who does a lot of business with a member, each member is only allowed to play one day a month.

I think they also don't want the PGA to start changing the course to cater to the pros. It's one of the last pieces of property that is nearly untouched since Dr. Mackenzie molded it.

While I was sitting on the bench outside the pro shop near the first tee, waiting to play. I watched as the caddies took the clubs out of the players "staff bags" and placed them into small carry bags, much to the dislike of the players.. I waited for about an hour and only two groups went out. Finally the guy in the pro shop asked me if a had a car, to which I replied "yes". He told me that "Jimmy" would be my caddie and we should start on #10. (Was advised Jimmy was once Ben Hogan's caddie for a while. - talk about pressure) We drove onto the course and parked under a tree near the 10th fairway. Jimmy pointed to the tee and he walked onto the fairways and told me to hit towards him, and so began my first experience at Cypress Point.

Needless to say, I had no fears about trying to impress Jimmy with my golfing abilities ! A great memory and Jimmy was able to walk me around to a nice 78 on this not long, but very intimidating golf course.

Oh by the way. Fee was $50 plus caddie fee/tip
