Member Since: January 11, 2007 Favorite Golfer: Tiger/Couples/Phil Favorite Golf Course: Robinson Ranch | Tuesday July 10, 2012 7:30 AM Recent pace of play issue. Lately, every time i play in a foursome where everyone's being courteous and waiting their turn and then not ready when it is their turn, its a long round. Feeling we need to balance out traditional golf etiquette with pace of play and play more ready golf. Not advocating a free for all but if two guys are on opposite sides of the fairway each needs to be hitting or getting ready to hit. I would not even mind if we hit at the same time, what messes me up is the uncertainty of the situation and the lack of concentration from wondering is he going or not going. |

Saying that on any one of the tee boxes should help speed play considerably. Not a free-for-all for hitting shots but at least a little push in the right direction. Work Hard. Declare up front before you start "Hey guys, let's play ready golf!"> > It is nothing new or original to say that golf is played one stroke at a time. But it took me many years to realize it. > > Bobby Jones > > It took me seventeen years to get three thousand hits in baseball. I did it in one afternoon on the golf course. > > Hank Aaron |

(most courses are 4 1/4 hrs) Our tee time was blah-blah-blah & we tee'd off at etc...So why is your Marshal out hassling us to keep up with the group in front? Bottom line? Member Since: March 20, 2003 Favorite Golfer: Annika/Mickelson Favorite Golf Course: Balboa | Sunday July 29, 2012 8:01 PM Three of the last four rounds I have played at Bear Mountain Golf Course have been in SERIOUS need of a marshal keeping the pace! Two weeks ago- three and a half hours for 9 holes. Pro shops fault- they booked too many folks for the course. Last week - 3 hours for 9. ONE very slow group with no etiquette. Waiting for each....individual....golfer....to....hit.....before....the.....next... .one....hit! ARGH! And then today- a threesome in carts in front of our twosome walking. Should've been great. NOPE. On the second fairway we know there's going to be a problem as they are 200+ out and waiting for the green to clear....and each chunks it maybe 70yds. They are still on the third tee when we arrive. They are playing from the forward tees. GREAT- we think, this bodes better. NOPE. One guy hits FOUR, yes 4, balls- all in the fairway but not where he wanted them. The next guy nails one- 50 FEET. Hits another. 50 feet. The third guy hits a decent shot. Mind you we are standing there waiting throughout this fiasco. They are laughing. No one offers to let us play through. It took them 20 minutes to play this one hole!!! Next hole they play the tips. When we finally get on a very elevated tee they are about 200yds from the green in the middle of the fairway. Standing there. Green is clear. They stand there. And stand there. I finally yell "HIT THE BALL" and they act ALL upset!! What? Takes them three more shots to reach the green. The next hole is a very short par 3 and we decide to cut our losses and just go ahead. Did we ask? Heck no. They didn't offer, they obviously have no idea of pace of play, so we just went. We finished the first 9 probably 20 minutes ahead of them! While this is a problem of their own creation I lay most of the blame on the course for having not a single marshal there to speed anyone up. Nada. They do NOT care how long your round takes. Pay your money and take your chances. The course is in great condition but if I had any other choice I would NOT play here because of their lack of caring about pace. New Year's Resolution- HAVE MORE FUN! |

Member Since: March 16, 2009 Favorite Golfer: fred couples Favorite Golf Course: classic club | Monday July 30, 2012 9:46 AM another great example,6:23 tee time at Escena Sat. mourning, got hooked up with a father and son, not bad golfers but after the 4th hole my buddy and I noticed 2 groups behind us are there because of us.Here s the fun part, the father and son are getting pissed because they feel the pressure from behind and I suggest we sould pick it up, but nooo they go on how your playin fast and its their going. So here lies the problem, they were playin slow and I mean reading 40 footers from all angles to blow it by 10 feet, walking up to the green from the 60 yard pitch shot and so on, and no matter how we tried they insisted they are fast plaryers. Still a great day for golf, had a reply too. |

If they can't understand the need to do that out of respect for the rest of the golfers on the course, then you probably don't want to play those type of people anyway. GK is now on FACEBOOK!
