I got to play 3 courses that I've never played before over the past few weeks, which is rare. I decided to try and come up with a list of all the courses I've played based on my memory and GKs help of course. Below are my totals, I'm really interested on everyone else's numbers:

98 total courses played (9 and 27 hole courses included)
1719 different golf holes
6 9 hole courses
1 27 hole facility
5 courses that have closed
10 out of state courses
1 out of country course
6 private courses
And finally of the 97 courses 43 I've only played once

I've saved my low scorecard from every course I've played since January 1, 1993. I've played 147 courses, but the list isn't growing much in recent years because I primarily play the same course every day. The only way I add courses is vacation golf in recent years.

I don't have them broken down like you but I keep them in order by score. I started keeping track of how many courses that I shot sub- 80 scores back when it meant something to me and never really stopped. It's because of that I know I've broken 80 on 70 different courses...LOL

Oh boy, you've found my hot button. I try and play a new course every time I go out, which makes SoCal a great place to live because there are still many I haven't played. In fact, my goal for 2011-2012 (dating back to last August when I started playing regularly again) is to play 100 new courses and be up over 250 total by the end of this year. Since August last year, I've played 66 new courses, so I am well on pace!

217 total courses played (9-hole, 27-hole, executive, par-3 courses all included)
8 courses that have closed (9 if you count the combo 18 they closed at Green River)
44 out of state courses (14 of those in Oregon)
2 out of country courses (both in Canada)
4 private courses
163 out of 217 I've only played once (in other words, 54 courses I've played more than once)

I've played in 21 states on my personal goal to play all 50. That number will go to 27 in August after my next vacation. (as seen on BogeysAcrossAmerica.com, hint hint)

A really interesting number would be to figure out how much money I've spent on golf in my lifetime. It would be frightening!!!

I have been fortunate enough to have played 712 different courses. While most are in California, I would guess that at least two hundred are from other states. There was a time when I was trying to play all the top 100 courses listed in Golf Digest. I got up to 44, but every year the list changed and I seemed to "lose" a few each time it did. For a number of reasons, I gave up that goal.

I am glad that I played many of these courses in the 80's and 90's when the cost was only a fraction of what it would be now. (I remember playing Pinehurst #2 for $40. Harbor Town Links for $50 with free replay, which I took advantage of) Blackwolf Run for $75, Cog Hill #4 $15 (yes $15) Doral - blue monster, and so many more. Played a lot of the great private courses on the east coast for $30-$40 with members (Winged Foot, Merion, Baltusral, Oakmont, Medinah#3, Olympia Fields, Inverness, Oakland Hills, Canterbury, Firestone, Olympic Club, Cypress Point Club, San Francisco GC etc. It would cost hundreds of dollars to play these courses now, IF I could even get on. Back then the courses were relatively empty and was fairly easy to get on. Considering during that time I did not belong to a private club so had no reciprocity to take advantage of. I just asked and in most instances, was able to get out.

I never did manage to play Pine Valley or Oak Hills. Came close to getting on Augusta, but never able to "close the deal" (But at least I did go there in 2011 to watch the Masters)

d%mn Mr. Weber..........that list is impressive on many levels. The 712 number is insane, and you have played some very famous private courses that would be difficult to get on these days. Wow........

Yeah, I agree, it's an amazing list and numbers. . . really impressive.

Anyway,Brad, this is a choir for me as i don't keep good track. The last count I had was close to 144 public courses. My most favorite public muni is Wilson at Griffith Park. 18 private courses, we visit most of them at least once or twice a year. LACC is my favorite (as I miss out on this week's even). The majority of the courses are here in California. I also show 14 international courses. The one that stands out the most is Bali Handara GC (Bali, Indonesia) which is built inside a dormant volcano. The views and scenes are out of this world and almost guaranteed to take you away from the game. . . (it's almost unfair). . . huge ferns sometimes taller than palms. . .

The 9 holers and executives and par 3s are less than 10, I'm sure.

Thanks, nice topic/thread.

It's never the same each round-- even on the same course. The fun is all about making it better than the last time.

So many good people in golf-- just about everywhere I play. The fun is to go out and play with them.

712 different courses!! My congratulations...Weber you are a record man!!
And my compliments to sixpez too...your goal is so admirable and interesting I hope you'll achieve it.
I love to play each time new and different courses too...we can arrange to play a new course for both of us next time I'll be in California (August 10th...I am also coming next week but I already planned to play courses you already played for sure)

About me...since June 2010 (first time I teed off on a golf course) and with the goal of playing at least one golf course on every continent of the world:

63 total different courses played (9 and 27 hole courses included)

By Continent:

24 Europe
29 North America
1 South America
9 Asia

By Country:

22 in Italy (where I mainly play my Home Course Parco de Medici in Rome)
2 in UK
5 in UAE
27 in USA
4 in Japan
1 in Brazil
2 in Canada

Of the 27 courses I played in the USA:

2 Mass.
4 Nevada
21 California

Never played a private course in the Us, even if it is one of my goals. It would be a gratification and honour for me, and for the skygolfblog.com , to play courses such as LACC or Riviera.

In the meantime I am planning to play some new courses on the upcoming weeks (and reach 70 by the end of August)....Goose Creek and Oak Creek on my next trip to California next week July 19th, Is Molas Golf Club in Sardinia, Italy, and and a couple of courses in Toronto....and a course or two I haven't picked up yet in SoCal when I'll be back Aug 10th.

I would guess I'm in the 75 - 100 range. I don't keep track or keep score cards. But 712 ! Wow ! So what are some must play courses from that list ?
