And seemingly 99% of the time, the guys that take divots out of the tees on their practice swings do NOT replace/repair them. I can't count the times I have played with a guy who takes a 6" divot on practice swing 1... well that shot would have been fat, better practice again... then a 2-3" divot on practice swing 2, then leaves a third divot on his real shot. Then they hastily get off the tee either because they have taken forever already or because they are embarrassed because after digging up a good portion of that's days designated lush teeing area, their shot was horrible anyway. While 99.99% of the people who read this are not PGA tour quality and never will be, here is a place we all should emulate the touring pro's. Here is an observation... In the many PGA Tour events I have witnessed in person, I have yet to see a PGA Tour pro purposely take a divot out of a tee box on a practice swing.  Member Since: January 17, 2008 Favorite Golfer: Tom Watson(Not TW),Zach J Favorite Golf Course: Eagle Falls/Sand H/Sky Mt | Wednesday July 18, 2012 12:35 PM For me, gotta be taking anywhere between 3-6 practice swings per shot...DUFF the REAL shot...then take 3-6 practice swings again before the REAL shot.....which either gets sliced, topped, chunked, or the best part LOST so we can search as a group for 5-6 minutes with players waiting on our entire group...Bottom line? I am a "Wind & Distance Consultant" which makes me an Experienced "Mathlete." "An individual who excels in mathematics to the point where he or she could make mathematics into a sport." |

Favorite Golf Course: Spyglass Hill | Wednesday July 18, 2012 2:09 PM That's an easy one for me: the guy(s) who play slow ... are clueless that they are holding up the entire course ... and do nothing about it. I want to say something to them but I know it'll just get me more pissed. It's the same as the person on the freeway in the fast lane doing 65 with a long line of cars behind them waiting/trying to get around.A close second is a hack taking divots on practice swings ... I mean really, are u kidding me? Better be filling those holes if that's your MO. Thanks, NICK, I feel much better now  |

Member Since: July 16, 2008 Favorite Golfer: El Tigre Favorite Golf Course: Nice walk ruined by holes | Wednesday July 18, 2012 3:30 PM I'm usually pretty easy going on the course, but I've discovered that courses manage golfers differently in TX than in CA. Specifically, they don't pair groups up here. My dad and I were at a course where we were behind a threesome which was a twosome and a single (rather than three friends all playing together), then our twosome, then behind us was a true threesome (three friends). So rather than having the twosome in front of us join my dad and I, and the single joining the threesome behind ours to make two foursomes, the course sent out groups of 3-2-3. It was a five and a half hour round, needless to say. Playing through was not an option as there were groups all waiting on the group in front of them. This is common for the TX courses I've been playing.So pet peeve = course management of golfers. |

Too many men have the attitude since they are a man they have to play from the tips. The game is a lot more fun when you play from the correct tees. If there is not a golfer or group behind you and you are not effecting pace, then by all means beat yourself up from the tips.The golfers who wait for the green to clear from 250 out when their drives have not broke the 200 yard barrier all day. OR the guys that ball hunt at every lake. |
