 Member Since: August 11, 2007 Favorite Golfer: Jack, Freddie, Tiger Favorite Golf Course: Olivas, OGA & Langdon Fm    | Monday August 20, 2012 6:41 PM With these eight automatic qualifiers, which other four should U.S. Captain Davis Love III pick for the U.S. Ryder Cup team & why?Tiger Woods Phil Mickelson Bubba Watson Webb Simpson Jason Dufner Matt Kuchar Keegan Bradley Zach Johnson My four Captain's picks would be, in order... 1-Steve Stricker, a no brainer. Easily the best qualified of the non automatic qualifiers. Has consistently won and been ranked in the top 10-20 of the world for years now. Also seems to be the one that plays best with Tiger in the 2 man team events. 2-Jim Furyk, steady with much international experience. Not quite the player he used to be, but still a solid choice in my opinion. Good style for match play, he doesn't beat himself often and is usually in the hole. 3-Hunter Mahan, not alot of experience, but he is ready to step his overall game up to the next level. Very talented, but streaky. Which Hunter shows up is the question? My gut tells me that he will win a major within the next few years. 4-Dustin Johnson, maybe a darkhorse because he missed months with injuries earlier this year. However, I like his length (it has been mentioned by TV commentators that the Ryder Cup venue will fit bombers). Now that he is healthy again, he is definitely one of the top 12 U.S. players in my opinion. For me, a real close call between him & Fowler... Considered but not making my final cut... Rickie Fowler... close, but he's odd man out... Nick Watney... needed to do more, sooner Brandt Snedeker... good player, but not quite Ryder Cup quality Bill Haas... looked like a definite a year ago, but hasn't followed up in 2012. no one else was in serious consideration for me... Hunter is not playing all that well and I can't say Dustin is reallying wowing me either. Not sure who else. I mean Van Pelt played well in the PGA. |

Stricker and Mahan for sure and if Dufner isn't a shoe in he should be. Furyk is a question mark for me. He can be on or off so easy. |

I'm pulling for Mahan and Snedeker, but I don't think Sneds is going to make it. If Rickie stays hot this weekend and next, he's in. I love how Furyk plays in team competitions, but I think the team needs to get younger. |

Coincidence? |
