I know--I know---we're fortunate to live in an area where you can play most all year with mild temps and plentiful sun. And I know that those from the colder regions often say to us: "You don't know cold!" Moorpark forecast for this Monday will be mostly in the mid to high 40s in the morning reaching into the 50s mid morning with moderate wind and sunny. I have a friend who just won't play if it's mostly in the 40s--just too cold for him -- and another who says there are just too many nicer days to choose from.

Would the Moorpark forecast scare anyone off?

I always chuckle when I hear the TV announcers say that late in the round, "it's getting cold and the ball is not traveling far", and the temp is "down" to the mid or high 50's. I play almost all my golf at first light and during the winter months it's frequently in the low-mid 40's. Heck, even by the time I'm putting the clubs back into the trunk, it is often still only in the mid 50's.

There are many mornings when I tee off, it's in the 30's and frost is my biggest fear. On courses which do not recognize frost, I have spent many a morning picking ice from the bottom of my shoes prior to hitting shots so I don't slip. So my answer is that if the course will let me play, I'll play !

I can remember playing golf in Chicago in the winter when it was in the teens and low 20's. Now that's cold ! The plus is that the water hazards are all frozen so no need to worry about them, and the sand too is frozen so the ball just bounces off or out of the bunkers. Downside, is at those temps, the ball truly goes nowhere !

Anything below 60 degrees, I pack a hot-water bottle to keep my balls warm.

During winter, on regular Saturdays, most our golf is at 8:00 am shotgun start to allow for the frost to thaw out if any.

I don't think the Moorpark temps would have been any issue to go out.

Moorpark was fine---the only issues were when the clouds covered the sun and when the wind picked up to 20 towards the end----got pretty cold during those times
