Member Since: November 4, 2004 Favorite Golfer: Chris Baingo Favorite Golf Course: CRYSTALAIRE | Monday January 9, 2012 2:00 PM Hi JohnnyGK:Is there any plans on getting the Floridian Golf Courses on board? . . . . . how about the Carolina courses? Just a wondering for now. You and I know golf is wide open and could be anything from a home town, national all the way up to international. I'm just thinking that travel golf is probably going to get stronger and stronger for Greenskeeper.org . Thanks, _noel * Renamed Subject of post Florida Golf Courses! - JohnnyGK [[Edited by JohnnyGK on Wednesday January 11, 2012 8:45 AM]] It's never the same each round-- even on the same course. The fun is all about making it better than the last time. So many good people in golf-- just about everywhere I play. The fun is to go out and play with them. "Ben Hogan: He never set foot on a golf course without looking his best." I think that is so awesome of him! |

There are many great web sites serving Florida golf from a generic "information" standpoint but nothing trying to build a community of Florida golfers that will look out for each other. Florida needs an online golf community so if a Floridian GK'er requests a course to be added, and I don't care how big or small it is, and is willing to post reviews, ratings or photos of it when they play, then I'll make it top priority to add. ** Any Requests for Florida Courses? ** GK is now on FACEBOOK! I also think it's a good way to add courses on a request basis, but then, having the main club courses up should probably make it on already to chum on the local Floridians. Either way is a good thing.Anyway, the Florida list may be too late for me this year, I'm on my way out this week. We will be doing a 7 day twice a day in a 1 main course, (it's a darn private course), 'though we'll be checking out other courses near Fort Myers for the two other days. 12 guys battling for pot places within 5 (x36 holes) heavenly day games. Just the guys . . . . no kids, no wives. . . and definitely no workmates . . . . . . . it means leaving my phone in the bag on vibrate. (LOL) ![]() ======================================= Why do I have visions of George of the Jungle rescuing us from a crock? (drum roll) watch out for that tree! Hey Lv, When exactly are you going down to Orlando? I was trying to go down there last weekend of January or first weekend of February to meet up with a friend who lives there on Sat (PGA merchandise show if Jan or play golf in Feb) and Sun (36 holes at Hammock Beach in Palm Coast). Only issue I have is that on Friday and Monday, I'll be all by myself since they have to work so looking for people to meet up and golf with if I go down there. 3 People that was suppose to go down has now all canceled and golf isn't much fun by yourself. As for the Dye's Valley course, Pros do play there also. Nationwide Tour has Winn Dixie open. Paisano - If you don't mind playing during the month of 6/1 to 9/30, I may be able to get you $150 rate at the Stadium Course. Aquaintance of mine works for PGA Tour Production there and gets 4 passes per year which he sells to me for $115 each (you have to pay $35 cart fee separately at the course). He also gets passes to Dye's Valley course but not sure what he'll charge me since I usually just do replay after Stadium since its only $50 for replay at the Valley Course. Boy does it brings me back memories of my first visit there. I was just outside when Tiger Wood was making his announcement at the Sawgrass after the infamous adultery incident. One girl has sign that says "Tiger my mouth is open", while the other girl that has pillow in her tummy has a sign that says "Tiger, my mouth is still shut". TMZ interviewed my friend and I after the photos with them......LOL. I will never ever forget that weekend. |

Member Since: October 21, 2007 Favorite Golfer: Natalie Gulbis, KJ Choi Favorite Golf Course: Arcadia Bluffs | Monday January 9, 2012 6:56 PM Hey Johnny,Following Courses are fantastic. They are near Jacksonville area so not really a Winter destination but nevertheless, pretty awesome courses. When visiting Sawgrass area, there are 2 courses nearby (under 3 miles away) under Ponte Vedra Inn and Club (not to be mistaken for Ponte Vedra Club) that is not to be missed. Ocean Course at Ponte Vedra Inn and Club is always in phenomenal shape with huge greens that are super slick. 1st Ryder cup was scheduled here until the world war caused it to be cancelled. They still have presidential bomb shelter on the property plus the 9th hole is supposely the original island par 3 (they say 17th at sawgrass is copied from them). Then there is the sister Lagoon course and its in even more phomonenal shape due to lack of play (not sure why since its an awesome course). As far as condition goes, TPC Sawgrass can't even come near them. Best of all, they charge only $25 cart fee for replays. I'd also recommend Slammer and Squire at the World Golf Village at Hall of Fame in St. Augustine. King and Bear is more highly touted but IMO, slammer and squire is a better layout. If you have the time, play both. |
