Doing a 3 day central coast get away early next month as a 4 some --- traveling from the South--

Courses under consideration are

--Ojai
--La Purisima
--Rancho San Marcos
--Glen Annie (maybe)

Nothing finalized (aside from staying at the Chumash Santa Ynez resort). Plan on not traveling beyond La Purisima and would like to play three different courses. I know there are mixed reviews on RSM. I've also played the River Course/Solvang but wasn't impressed and Sandpiper is just too pricey.

Would appreciate any additions/subtractions/comments to assist our planning.

Thanks!

I would definitely play La Purisima! Great course in total isolation with a wicked layout. If you are already going that way just another 40 miles north is Cypress Ridge which I was very impressed with. Loved the layout there, conditions are usually good, and every time I’ve played, empty.

I've played all of those except Glen Annie. Ojai would definitely be my choice. Love La P and RSM as well, but conditions are suspect at both right now, afaik. Soule Park in Ojai is also a nice, affordable option to consider.

Though not on your list, did you consider Sandpiper in Goleta? A golf buddy of mine is playing there this weekend and the pics look great.

Check out the Mission Club (formerly Village CC) in Lompoc which is very close to La Purisima and has the same owner. I played there in August and found it a decent challenge, scenic, and well maintained (read latest reviews-sorry I forgot to post one). Reasonable green fee around $50 w/cart if I remember correct.

I would second Hunter Ranch, but it you'd be significantly extending the reach o the drive. Assuming La Purism is a must, my second would be Ojai.

Ojai and LP are definites leaving the 3d choice either RSM, Glen Annie, or Mission Club -- which of those 3 is currently in the best shape?

A little further north is Monarch. :-) If you watch sometimes the private course Alisal Ranch in Solvang is nice but pricey unless you are staying there.

We like Alisal River course (public). We have done La Purisima, RSM, and Alisal. Alisal is solid enough that you can play it in the morning and either RSM or LP in the afternoon.

Have fun!!!
