I played Santa Ana a couple of weeks ago and it was in very good condition. The greens were rolling pretty true and were pretty smooth with minimal ball marks. I played the Cheena & Tamaya nines (the other nine is the Star). Most people say these are the 2 better nines but some would disagree. This course takes a lot of strategy as you can hit a great shot and go thru the dog leg or mi sh-t by a few yards and end up a bunker or the desert. I like it because you have to pay attention and play to your misses. The bar is a treat as it has window that is about 5 feet high by 20 feet wide offering a great view of the Sandia Mountain range. This is the (older) sister course to Twin Warriors and has a little more of a muni feel while Twin feels a little more high end with the Hyatt Tamaya being right on site. Definitely worth playing if you are in the area.

Because of an early flight time, needed to book some place near the airport, but more importantly, a place I coud get out early. Able to secure what I was told was the first time at 6:30am. Unlike every other course so far on this trip, this place was very crowded. Mentioned to the starter my situation about having the early flight, but was told that they have twosome of women who take the first time out every day and we had to follow them.

As it turned out, these two ladies played as quickly as was represented. They actually finished in 2 hours 20 minutes, which was perfect as we were on their tail the entire round, but never really waited.

The course is not anything really special, but a very nice course. It was in by far the best condition of any of the courses played on this trip. Greens were smooth and reasonably fast. The overall condition was excellent. Price was right, so recommend this place, but be prepared because this course gets a lot of play.

Played Sept 23 and this is a wonderful golf course. 27 holes laid out in the valley W of the Rio Grande river. Nothing fancy, just great design and pleasure to play. We played the Tamaya and Cheena 9's and we walked on a Sunday morning for $40. Great staff and wonderful customer service. Course conditions were excellent from tee, fairways, greens and bunkers. Anyone familiar with Albuquerque knows of Sandi Peak and the grill has the greatest view of this through the large picture window. Good thing this is not CA as they would have added for the view? Try the chips and salsa (home made and HOT/great) when you are having your beers (yes you will need several).
