Played early this morning. POP 3H.

Course is in great shape at the moment. This course gets much more play than Rancho Solano due to location minutes off
I 80 and large driving range and practice areas. Restaurant is bigger as well. Also course is pretty much flat (easy to walk) and w/o the elevation changes at RS that might bother many golfers.

I found all tee boxes to be clean, level and playable.

Fairways good coverage, good lies, rollout
on all of them.

Rough was manageable. But there is a creek running through the course and lots of OB areas. Houses along some holes but set back sufficiently.

Traps were all raked and cleaned ready for play.

Greens are large but not as large as RS but they have undulations and hitting the right spot for were the pin is is crucial. They chipped and putted great the whole round. With decent speed maybe 9/10.

Great customer service from all employees I encountered.

I love the variety of courses available within about a 30 mile radius here in N CA. And no traffic jams to deal with getting to them. Go further out and even more courses become available.

Going to head N this summer and play as many Sierra courses as possible as the traveling distances are really within range.

Traps were clean and playable.

Rough was damp but not to penal and able to advance your ball a good distance with a good strike.

Greens were in good shape and have some undulations that will test ones putting skills. They chipped and putted just fine.

While this course does not have the elelvation changes that Rancho Solano does, it does have its OB areas, water, ditches and streams to contend with. Which no doubt will assist it ruining ones round.

The course seems to get much more play than Rancho Solano IMO maybe because of its location with Fairfield?

Played today on a beautiful day here in N CA.

Course has really become very playble and much more enjoyable the more I play it since early Feb when I first played.

Played all 18 on a twilight round in 3.5 hours. $22 to walk.

Tee boxes level and playable. Fairways are nice and wide and provide good lies and very nice roll out.

Rough is 1/2 inch and not a friendly place to be. + numerous OB areas along many fairways, a creek running through the property requiring carries over several greens. And don't forget the water holes.

Traps are big and there are many but they all were very playable.

Greens are in good shape after being punched last week. They look surprisingly good for such a short time. They chipped and putted just fine all round.

Great service in the shop. Huge driving range and very busy. Good practice areas.

Highly recommended.

Have not played here since the mid 90's soon after it opened. I have always enjoyed playing Robert Muir Graves designs and this was IMO one of his better public courses.

Have not played here since the mid 90's soon after it opened. I have always enjoyed playing Robert Muir Graves designs and this was IMO one of his better public courses.

Found the course to be in great shape and better than I remember it but that goes w/o saying as it is now over 40 years old. And many will say things get better with age. This one did.

The recent rains have the course nice and lush and the bent grass greens and winter rye fairways are really in great shape.

I took a cart today but I can see that the course is very walkable. I will give that a try here soon.

Found the tee boxes to be very good. Fairways had some firmness and some roll even after the rain and provided good lies as well.

Lots of sand traps. My playing partners said there about 50 on the course. The few I found were playable.

A few water hazards are on the course and again I had local players in our group who were kind enough to point them out before teeing off. So no lost balls.

Greens are large but played excellent and found no issues with chipping, putting. And they were well maintained.

Great customer service from pro shop and nice driving range and short game practice area. Also custom fitting and repair services onsite. Its obvious management takes great pride in keeping the place up.

Did not eat in the restaurant as the course was crowded but looked great as well as the bar area.

Very nice course in addition to Rancho Solano and Cypress Lakes my golfing itch will be well taken care of.

Played 6/11 with 9:50 tee time in middle of the players in Sr Series NCGA event. Hottest day of the week sunny mid 90's by time we finished with 4.5+ POP. Comfortable in the shade.

Played 6/11 with 9:50 tee time in middle of the players in Sr Series NCGA event. Hottest day of the week sunny mid 90's by time we finished with 4.5+ POP. Comfortable in the shade.
Course is in consistently good condition and like last time (10/4/23) the pins were in the same position. The greens are large and in great shape rolling mid-speed mostly flat subtle breaks. Made a few mid range missed more. Rough around the greens had me fooled thicker bermuda like hard to get a crisp strike and control distance. Fairways are tight and preferable to the manageable rough.
City owned and under new management since the last visit. Did not use the restaurant this time but that was an area they wanted to improve on. According to the local paper Dec'23.
Ample driving range using mats and the grass area looked healthy.
An easier course to walk and play in good shape what's not to like?
Opened in 1993 housing around it never in play. A few holes with water in play. I finished with the same ball I started with. Too many blows glad I didn't add penalty ones to my score. Still FUN...

Played 10-4-23, second round of the day with fellow GKers, teeing off around 1pm and finishing in about 4 hours. Tee boxes were in good condition, mostly lush and level. Fairways were in good shape, mostly lush with nice lies and decent roll out. Rough was in good condition, uniformly cut to about 2 inches and fairly easy to hit from. Was not in any bunkers, but they looked to be in good condition, and playing partners said they were very nice. Greens were in good shape, rolling smooth at a medium pace and playing semi-soft. Mostly flat layout with a few lakes mixed in. Fun to play and highly recommend.

Played Wed 10/4, 1pm time as a 4some, 2nd round of the day after the morning round at Rancho solano. Hot day. 4hr round. 1-2 club wind most of the round. First time here, has been on my list for a long time, but it's an hour away for me, so glad I was able to get out here... and I am glad I did. I could play this course everyday. It is in excellent muni shape. Greens running a slow 10... greens not as big as the sister course, and a little slower. The course overall is an excellent relaxing fun track. Flatter than RS, more resort level difficulty, but pretty; wider fairways, more houses. Bunkers were perfect. Food was great. Better tap here.

Seeing as it's going to be compared to its sister course, Rancho Solano, I'll put this here and there: the other course was more fun , but I did have a great time, and it's a fun course., Both were fun. The greens here are smaller, more flat overall. It's longer, but a bit easier. Wider fairways. PV is more relaxing. I would play these courses all of the time if I were local. Their Loyal-Tee membership is probably a great deal.

Second stop of the day yesterday with the GK gurus was at Paradise Valley. The sister course to Rancho Solano may get second billing but remember Steve Young and Tom Brady were both backup QB’s initially as well! This course could easily be a starter in most places!! It has solid conditions tee to green and a fun layout that can easily be challenging if you get a little wild off the tee. Paradise Valley has a number of water hazards to keep the track from being a boring flat course and has a good blend of par 3’s plus a variety of par 4’s and fun Par 5’s. An island green was about all that was missing.

Greens are normal size and very manageable. They rolled smooth at a good pace that was appropriate for the course. Undulations were modest. Some just enough to confuse you, others had enough break to be predictable so it was just a matter of matching up the speed with the break. Most greens were double tiered but not so ridiculous that if you were on the wrong tier you had No chance of two putting.

Fairways weren’t quite as nice as Rancho Solano but definitely in good shape and nothing to complain about. Rough was probably perfect. It was only about 2-2.5 inches tall but thick and did just exactly what the rough is suppose to do… penalize you for missing the fairway! You could easily get a club on the ball but it was difficult to hit a great shot from the rough.

Sand traps and tee boxes were also of good quality. The one area where Paradise Valley was definitely a notch or two below was the skirt areas around the green. It was ok, but not as consistent or nice as RS.

We stopped in at the restaurant / bar afterwards to have a post round re-cap and I had the tri-tip salad and was quite pleased with it. Aside from losing the birdie chain at the end. It was a great day all around.

In direct comparison to the nearby relative Rancho Solano a picky reviewer may find minor differences here. Maybe. Like a little dallis grass here and there, or prefer the elevation changes at RS to the relatively flat Paradise Valley. Not this guru?! Playing the afternoon round here in warmer than normal fall conditions was great too. Maybe a bit warmer than I liked on the front 9. We were ready and tee'd off a group earlier than scheduled. Starter was helpful and friendly with that process. Wide accepting fairway on the first hole par 5 and good pace of play on the weekday made it another fun round of golf on the Robert Muir Graves design.
Greens in great shape. Good fairways and the bunkers good. Some of the hazards are dried up and you play out from there if your errant shot gets in there. Didn't get off the tee as well here so the rough affected my distance and score a bit more. Was a bit longer and thicker in spots on the back 9.
Large range area was busy and long and thin practice green between the first and tenth tees right near the clubhouse. A few range balls found there way over the fence onto the 9th hole.
Another good value for the area player. Recommend.
