The course was in great shape, especially considering all the rain we've had. Played mid-week, and we finished up in about 3.5 hours. Like others have said, this is a shorter course, but I really enjoyed it.

Great food in the clubhouse, and staff was all very nice!

I live on the golf course. It is well maintained and well managed. If you like golf then this is the course for you. Give it a try and you will come back.

It has been two years since I played Deer Ridge and for the most part the all around quality has been maintained and in some ways improved a little. Since my last round, the nines were swapped and this makes for a smoother flow off a first tee near the pro shop. Also, the snack bar/restaurant now serves beer or mixed drinks as well as very good food. The breakfast burrito remains an excellent bargain at $4.00.
The course was in very good condition and the staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. The only negative was that half of the warm up area/range (wedges only) was open and the artificial grass tees were in rather sad shape.
Deer Ridge remains a sleeper when you look at the scorecard-the slightly more that 6300 yds from the tips looks short, but check the high slope and size of the greens. If you putt lousy like I did, or let a few shots drift into the various ditches, arroyos and "environmental areas" a big number awaits you. A mostly fair and very enjoyable golf course.

It was my first time at DRCC. I was really impressed. Course was in excellent shape and really taken care of. It started at the clubhouse where the guys were the nicest I've met in some time. The course was beautiful!! I couldn't really find anything wrong with it, except the bunkers. If they put in some fresh sand it would be perfect. Not a long course and it plays very fair. I will be back without a doubt.

This course has been in great shape every time I've played it. It is a fun course to play because it makes you hit a bunch of different shots from the tee. From the back tees I probably only used my driver 3-4 times during the round.

I feel that this course is always in great shape. The course drains very well in inclement weather and is a true value.

This course is a sleeper...it seems to be wide open but if the wind is up, it can be a killer. Greens had numerous ball marks that didn't seem to be healing...could be due to the heat the area had a few weeks back and also to those who can't be bothered to repair their marks. The only hole that seemed VERY strange is #6...you have to hit to a landing area between 160-210 yards out (unless you can bomb it about 340) to avoid an environmental hazard area, but it's layout from the tee causes multiple group backups as you have to park in one area, walk across a bridge to the tee area, hit your shots, walk back to the carts and then go...and it's a "cart path" only hole so once you get to the area of your shot, you'll need to walk back into the fairway to hit your approach then back to the cart path. For a relatively short par 4, it does take some time to get through it if there is anybody ahead of you. Lots of new home construction going up on the back nine but it's an interesting course to play with some pretty tight driving holes due to hillsides, wetlands areas, etc. Staff was helpful and courteous and the marshalls carried water jugs (flavored with lemon) in addition to the ones about every 3 holes so you could replenish your own...a very appreciated touch. If you're in the Brentwood area, it's a course you should try.

Played on 4/21 and although not long you have to think your way around this course. The greens are fast and run true and the fairways were in good shape ( cart path only). Staff was great. Worth the drive from San Francisco.

I played Deer Ridge for the first time on 9-22-05 amidst many reports of "the best greens around". Much to my dismay, the greens were aerated on 9-12 (This info was not available when I joined Greenskeeper...). The course is a bit of a sleeper in that it is just over 6300 yds. from the back tees...but the slope is 141! The abbreviated range is ok for warming up, but not too good for a practice session or to see how far anything is flying. With the greens rather bumpy and fast, putting was (it always is for me!) difficult. The layout is often picturesque and the course guide was helpful. There are many hazards/environmental areas which come into play. I look forward to another round when the greens are smoother. If you play in the morning, try the breakfast burrito-one of the best bargains around!
