A designing masterpiece! With the wind 15-20 mph today, the course played very tricky. Club selection with the vertical changes is a huge challenge, but fun. A yardage book for first timers was a necessity.
All the holes presented immaculately with the greens the most impressive. Quick and firm with little to no ball marks on approaches.
Holes 9-14 were a survival excercise. All the par 3s were the favorites.
Played twilight rate on Sunday for $65 from 3:30 pm. No worries finishing. Excellent pracitce facility and friendly staff made the day worth a return.

Interesting golf course with a variety of holes (long, short, up, down). The rough is thick and it is important to keep your shots on the fairways. Greens are in good shape and roll true, but they are not that fast. If you can play here for $80 or less, it is worth it.

This is a really fun, hilly course that is well maintained. We played on an uncroweded Monday for $75, including lunch. Will definitely return.

My wife and I played Wente last month, and had a great day. The course winds through hills and vineyards, and accuracy is well rewarded. Later in the day the wind picks up to increase the challenge. The conditions were terrific, the staff extremely helpful and efficient, and the entire experience first class.

The green fees of $85may seem a little high, but the experience is as good as or better than resort courses costing twice as much.

Finally, the wines that bear the Wente label are a fine treat at the end of the round.

Played for free on birthday. Got special on web. Play natinwide tour there. Not all that long from blues. Great shape but not worth the eighty dollars.

Played on 5/1 on a partly cloudy/windy, partly sunny day. The course was fantastic. Greens were fast and in decent condition, the fairways well manicured, the rough was long and torturous, and it was a difficult test of golf.

Beautiful scenery in the rolling hills of Livermore, and a very peaceful day in spite of the high score. Local knowledge a definite benefit here.

We went wine tasting afterwards and enjoyed dinner at the restaurant on the premises.

All in all, one of the better courses in the state. Well worth the $85 green fees, the staff was friendly, and I would recommend to anyone.

Keep in mind, this is a mountain course, a great course if you are in the mood for this type of set up. Greens are world class and very tough to get the ball in the hole, breaks are subtle with difficult reads. Very scenic and well maintained, the course is fair, the rough is deep and difficult. This can be a very tough golf course. Like many mountain courses with severe elevation changes it is a challenge to select the right club, here it seems that hitting a long iron off the tee is usually the right play. I'd rate it at the top of mountain courses, and with that being said, I am tired of mountain courses, I just never get comfortable on the course and enjoy the round.
Service is as good as it gets, so is the food, if you love mountain golf this is a must play, just bring your 3 iron and you'll be set.

Though the green fees are some what high, I believe the course and quality of service made it easy to forget the fee's.I would recommend it to fellow golfers.

This is by far the best public facility in the area. It is in the same class as Pebble, Cypress, or any other high end facility you can think of. The course also offers the best value, in terms of fees, for the experience.

Played 1/7 while visiting Livermore last week and I must say this course met all my expectations. A recent winner of Greenskeeper.org’s best playing conditions in the East Bay area, and despite the somewhat wet conditions from the previous 10+ days of rain, The Course at Wente Vineyards played deserving of the award. Unknown to me before our round, Wente Vineyards recently became a stop for the Nationwide Tour. The tour will be there the week of March 27th and according to course staff, they have lengthened the back tees to over 7400 yards. Regardless of what tees you play from, the layout is a real treat. The front nine winds it way through the vineyards highlighted by the closing three holes. Hole 8, my personal favorite, is just a sensational par 5 lined with vineyards on your left and hillside to the right. The hole plays slightly uphill making it virtually unreachable in two. For the really big hitters, a gamble for eagle could quickly spell disaster as an enormous amount a trouble awaits 100 yards and in. The back nine is quite different from the front side as the majority of holes are narrower and provide many dramatic elevation changes. What I really love about this course is its risk reward nature. Wente Vineyards allows the player to be aggressive or conservative on over half of the holes. There are drivable par 4’s and tempting par 5’s. There are many ways to play the course making for a very interesting round. Rather then rave some more, take a look at the photos and judge for yourself (sadly we teed off late and ended up playing hole 18 in the dark…no photo… however the pace of play was excellent along with the service).

Highly Recommended!

When I played the driving range was not open because of renovations secondary to a deal with the Nationwide Tour. Some interesting holes. The place can get very windy.

Showed up at 7am as a single on a saturday and got on at 0745. staff at the clubhouse was more than helpful and friendly and got me right on. I have never played here but was paired with someone who plays here often which helped tremendousley. for those who dont have course knowledge, i recommend a yardage book due to the blind shots and severe elevation changes. from the first tee i knew that this course was going to be fun and challenging. the views are more than specta cular and whats really nice is that no homes are seen. Keep the ball in the fairway and use good course management and you will score well at this tough but fair course.

One of my favorite courses anywhere in CA - tremendous elevation changes, unbelievable views, not a house on the course, etc. It's a must play - got it for $60 on a Thursday which leaves you feeling like you're stealing from them. Great course, just don't miss the fairway too often or thick rough and/or vineyards (OB) will eat your lunch. Only gripe on this day was that the beverage cart wasn't running and the halfway house wasn't manned. Marshal at the turn ran and got us lunch, though - great service! Play it now for great conditions!
