Loved it. Had never played it before and had a 2 for 1 coupon so decided to try it. Can kick myself for not going out there sooner. Spectacular course; beautiful scenery. Will go back soon. Very challenging; lots of uneven lies if not hitting ball straight. Greens are large and challenging; but fair. Loved it.

Haven't played here in a while and the course is still in great condition. The only thing is that the tee boxes are a little bare, however that can be due to alot of shade being around the tee box areas. The fairways are lush and always having a good patch to hit off. It was fun and enjoyable. there was nobody on the course.

Played on 8/5/08 and course was in good shape, especially being later in the summer. Staff was very friendly. Like other reviews, you must hit it straight. Some great golf holes, especially the par 3's. Multiple tees which was nice for my fiance. Only need driver on 3 or 4 holes, with a 200-230 yard drive required on most(from blues). Paid $49 for green fees and lunch(very good cheeseburger and fries). Well worth the experience and would highly recommend the course.

Played on a Friday morning (4/25) and other than pace of play (4hrs 30 mins) we had a fantastic day. The tee boxes, fairways and rough are all immaculate and the greens were in surprisingly good shape for this time of year albeit a tad on the slow side. I'm not a huge fan of target golf but this course is definitely worth the price of admission. (I think we paid like $40 a piece with a four for three coupon). Every hole is visually appealing and the views are fantastic. As far as pace of play goes, the design of this course prevents quick rounds of golf for all but the best of golfers. There are a couple of holes that are "cart path only" that are very hilly and it can take a long time to get to your ball if you hit an errant shot. That being said, do not expect the starters/marshals to do anything to help the pace of play. Fortunately, the course is so scenic that you will have plenty to look at while you are waiting 10 minutes between every shot.

First time I've ever played this course and I must admit while it is not my style of course, and would not choose it for my home course, it was one of the most scenic courses I've ever played and well worth the extra effort to drive from Sacramento to play. (In town on business so choose this over another course) The course was in good condition, and the staff was absolutely fabulous in working with me to get out at a moment's notice. I would come back here again and recommend this course for a very pleasant beautiful day of golf. My only conplaint is the course is not walkable, which is my preferred way to play.

Played on Friday and what a great track! It is in great shape for time of year. The vistas can't be beat. The only drawback is the lack of attention reguarding slow play, no marshals to be found. So if you have six hours to kill, drink in the beauty and enjoy this wonderful course.

The course is extremely hilly - lots of water - quite challenging. There are some areas under repair, but all told, well worth the fees.

Apple Mountain Golf Resort was definitely a top 5 course for me in the NorCal region. The course was in very good condition. In particular, me and my friends were impressed with the attention to detail around the tee boxes and the greens. The course itself was very challenging. For most of the holes, I took an iron off the tee because there was not much room for forgiveness and there were quite a few par 3's. I would say the only negative aspect to the course is that it is very short. We played the blue tees and it was around 6100 yards. The scenery was spectacular and the employees at the course were very helpful and gracious. I HIGHLY recommend this course to golfers who are looking to play a variety of courses. From San Francisco it is a hike (around 2 hour drive). We played it because we were coming back from Lake Tahoe. I really do believe I will go back and play this course again. I would recommend making a golf weekend out of it and play another course in the Lake Tahoe area. If not, the 2 hour drive is worth it and the price to play this course is ridiculous (in a good way). It cost us $50 including a cart and it is by far better than 75% of the courses in the Bay Area.

I played Apple Mountain 11/21 for the first time and was amazed at the quality of this course. The maintnance and design are easily on par with the priciest courses in the area. If this course were in a tourist destination it would be a $200 greensfee. "Worth the price" can't apply to a course more than this one.

Played Apple Mtn. on 10/27 and the course is in great shape...lush fairways and tee boxes...the greens, for the most part are also in good condition although there are a few bumps left after the usual fall green conditioning rituals. And then there are the idiots who can't be bothered to fix ball marks and divots...I guess they just think they'll fix themselves...makes you want to round these clowns up and put them in a cart headed downhill with no brakes. The Apple staff are great, very courteous, and do all they can to insure you'll have a good time at their course. The only downside I noticed is that the bunker sand is different between the nines...a light, powder-like white sand for the front side and a heavier, almost dirt-like sand on the backside, so if they could get consistant with that, it would be better. This time of year in the foothills...what a treat. They usually offer some good deals on their website.

I just recently played this course twice, June 15th and then again on July 7th. Both times I was extremely pleased. The greens are in great shape, the fairways are great if you are hitting straight and hit the fairway, tee boxes are level. I saw ONE - ONE bare spot in the fairway, on the back side......It seems that this course has had some bad press regarding pace of play, however both times I played it, I was done within 4 1/2 hours with a lunch stop. The second time I was there the marshall actually remarked to us that we were behind pace, although we were comfortably playing right behind the group in front and was not holding up the group behind us. Other than this remark from the marshall, we did not feel rushed by the group behind us, nor were we waiting for the group in front. Both rounds were very enjoyable, and this from a guy who last year was hit in the head here by a crushing tee shot from the group behind us, that hit me on the green on hole 10. If your game is on, this could be a course to challenge yourself, but bring some extra ammunition - you may need it if you're not hitting the ball straight.

Course is in fairly excellent condition although there are some areas on greens (ball marks) and tee boxes (divots) that are solely caused by bozos who can't be bothered to fix them...guess it just takes too much of their "valuable" time to make those repairs. This is a mountain course with all that implies...farther carrys than you think you're capable of (at sea level), but the forest doesn't give up too many of the balls you hit into it, so if your game isn't the straightest, bring lots of ammunition. Accuracy is premium here but there are some holes where you can just let it rip. Friendly staff & make sure your cart has good brakes, 'cuz you're gonna need them!

Fabulous surroundings, and a very courteous staff. The greens are very firm and short. 2 putts are a challenge. It is absolutely worth the fees. The end of September is a great time to visit this course that is built in amongst the forests and the deer. The course is plenty long and the overall condition is excellent. This is not a course to walk, but it has challenges at every hole. Definately a course you will visit more than once.

Course in great shape. Need to be patient with a five + hour round. The marshalls were a little behind in speeding up play and it gets windy in the afternoons this time of year. Tees, fairways and greens in great shape. Try to book time with space between group. They bunche groups together which slowed the round considerably.

Holy smokes! This is a COOL golf course. My friend has been telling me how fun it was, but we'd not had the chance to go play it.

Great conditions... the greens were great after only a few weeks from aeration. Tees, fairways, rough... everything was nice. The views and trees, hole layouts, the location in the hills... what a great round of golf. Now, if only I could play better.

The marshall was right on top of things... we probably saw him 4 or 5 times... when's the last time you heard that!? We moved along fine, but because of the courses narrowness (is that a word?) we were looking in the bushes plenty, and the greens are difficult and speedy, so that slowed us down.

Highly recommended. I really enjoyed it. Oh, and the hot dog was mighty tasty!

Second time playing here and as beautiful as the last. Worth ever penny. The course was in great shape from tees to greens. Shot placement of the tee is the key to scoring well at this course. You dont have to be long just acurate. Can't wait ot play again.

A lot of people talk about the challenge of Apple Mountain due primarily to the terrain, trees, blind shots and solid greens. However, the best reason to play Apple Mountain is the yearround beauty of the course and the surroundings. We travel the 2+ hours to Apple Mountain 5-6 times a year.

I've been a member at Apple Mt and I can testify that this course is the most difficult course in the greater Sacramento area. It requires the golfer to do the most difficult part of golf: practice course management. You must plan and then execute. This is not a course for the spray it anywhere golfer. The execution of your plan is rewarded by exultation. Expect a challenge and then rise to the occasion !

For my money and time this course is the best in Northern Cali. The views and layout are spectacular and if that wasn't enough the course is always in beautiful condition. You will find a very accomodating and appreciative support staff that makes your visit all the more enjoyable. I may be going on too much but this course deserves all the praise it has comeing. This is a must play from anywhere in Nor Cal.
