Played in the GK event. This is a difficult review. Of the handful of times I've had the pleasure of playing this course the conditions were immaculate. This day, they were the worst that I have seen. But, with the exception of the greens, they were still very good. I guess that can be a problem. When you are used to perfection, anything less stands out. Except for a few spots here and there the fairways were very good. I found the rough often and it was pretty thick, but manageable. The greens were not in that great of shape. I would imagine the hot weather has been taking a toll. It was very hot the day we played. Over all the course was still in pretty good shape. I felt a little bad for some of the GKers that drove all the way and didn't get to experience the 'typical' conditions of the course. This is a course design that I grow to love the more times I play it. There are couple of holes that seem pretty straight forward, but once you see the nuances of the design, you see that you have to hit the ball to specific areas. The fairway might be forgiving, but the approach shot is not! Looking forward to my Fall trip up north to play this gem again.

I know many of you, myself included, had very high expectations of playing Yocha Dehe Golf Club in its typical immaculate conditions, it’s disappointing it was not due to the heat wave that ravaged the area for weeks of 100+ temps prior and during our outing. That said, IMO, the golf course was still in great shape and the back nine played beautifully. As a first-time player, Yocha Dehe Golf Club layout met my expectations as well as outstanding service and facilities. They did a fantastic job working with me as group organizer and the added touch of surprising us with souvenir hats was very nice. After golf, they provided our outing a private room, with servers and excellent food showed off how much they cared. I’m so impressed with how much effort they put into trying to make us happy, I’m going to be looking into coming back up here, in the Spring next time, next year for a GK Plays, I hope many of you will return next year to join me. I posted some beautiful photos of my round. I’m in the process putting together the GK Plays outing recap on our GK Events page, social media and forums. Enjoyed meeting other GK'ers from Norcal on SoCal. JOhnny was a great host and brought out an impressive amount of swag. Nobody went home empty handed!

I have played Yocha Dehe over 10 times the past few years. In my opinion, it's the best course in Northern California. The service, and staff, the facility are second to none and at a very fair price.

The course offers a challenge to any golfer that plays it. The tees and fairways were in great shape with a few exceptions. I was disappointed in the greens. I have never seen them like that. My guess if I'm allowed one is that they hosted a large tournament the day before and that mixed with the heat did not allow them to heal in time.

Other than that, It was a great day at a great course with some great people!

Was absolutely thrilled to play in my first full field GK plays outing at my favorite golf course in Northern California: Yocha Dehe. I've had the pleasure of playing this awesome tract four or five times and every time I'm there I'm reminded how special it really is. The vistas, the geography, the course conditions and hospitality are absolutely outstanding. And this visit did not disappoint. The fairways are absolutely immaculate. And the up-and-down geography makes for incredibly beautiful and incredibly challenging golf at the exact same time. As always the fairways we're pristine. The rough is thick and punishing if you get in it. The traps sparkling fluffy perfect sand.

If I had only one slight complaint, the greens while they rolled true we're a little splotchy. I have to believe that all of that crazy wet weather has made them a little difficult to manage. But this was just a very small little blemish on otherwise a beautiful gem.

Finally the hospitality in the clubhouse continues to be a first rate. Awesome food great cocktails in a beautiful atmosphere.

It was great to play a GK plays event at Yocha. Was a lot of fun playing with my fellow GK gurus and I can't wait for the next event!

Had a Great time with the GK family for the event on Sat afternoon. I had such high expectations for this course due to the high ratings and always being top 25 in the state. Unfortunately my expectations were not fully met. Don't get me wrong the course is pretty and the starter warned us about the condition not being absolutely perfect due to some none native grass they cut out of 2-3 fairways and the heat.

The only issue that I absolutely did not enjoy was the greens. They were cut so short that all of the previous hole locations were an issue. We could see at least 10 different locations of hole placements on the green and if you had more than a 15ft putt one would normal be in your line causing some bumpiness. The heat also made them very firm and quick.

I found the front nine to be very boring for some reason. Flat and not all that difficult. The first tee shot is about a 100 foot drop to the fairway below and that was the only exciting shot I can remember from the front nine. I did shoot well (38) so that helped put my mind at easy.

Then the back nine hit and boy will it hit hard. There is a wide spectrum of shots that you need to do to shoot well on the back nine. There are dog legs, forced carries, and lakes. Sadly my score shot up from there and I took a 49.

I still had fun and if it wasn't 105 degrees I probably would have enjoyed it more so Ill be back if im ever there in the winter. A big shout out to Johnny and The GK family for having this event.

Purposely saved this one for last so it would stay on top longer. What a fun day at Yocha Dehe with the first really big Norcal GK Plays event. It was great to meet the folks that BGarcelon was able to wrangle up, along with seeing some familiar SoCal GK'ers who made the trek up. Incredible prize table, thanks largely to a very generous contribution from LinkSoul. Pace was a bit slow with the big group and it was hot out, but we all still had fun! The course conditions were very nice. Maybe a tad disappointing as they have definitely experienced a hotter-than-normal summer and there is some heat damage. A few big sections of fairways are roped off and played as GUR as they work to repair the damage. I appreciated that they were upfront about this as the starter gives you the info on the first tee. Otherwise, there were a few small burnt spots scattered throughout that you might not normally see here. That's just being a little nitpicky because we have such high expectations from this course. Overall, everything was very lush and green. Most fairways were great and the rough was beautifully kept. The bunkers were amazing with soft, bright white sand. The greens were firm-ish and rolling at medium-fast speeds, just getting a little bumpy as the day went on and footprints showed late in the afternoon. I'd say 90% excellent with 10% of areas that need a little TLC to get back to the usual high Yocha standards. The service is excellent here. Truly top-notch, especially considering there are so many moving parts from the bag drop to the pro shop to the staging area to the practice area and first tee. The team was hustling and helping keep us organized as much as they could. Food service excellent afterward, and we had a nice little private room for the prizes. Great overall experience at one of Northern California's best public courses! It's such a beautiful setting and a fantastic layout that gets better and better as the round goes on, culminating in a spectacular back nine. The only other time I played here was in the winter and it was before they had done any turf reduction. Then, it was lush and green from wall to wall with all the hillsides being green, as well. Saturday was a different look with more contrast between the green fairways and the golden hills. I wish they would do something nicer with the turf-reduced areas, though. Not as pretty with a bunch of big bare dirt patches in between holes.

Played an early round on 5/7. First trip up there. As stated numerous times, the course is just amazing & I'm bummed it took me so long to play it. Reminds me of a hybrid between Rancho San Marcos & San Juan Oaks, embodying the best of both courses. Great layout, with a wonderful mix of fun & challenging holes, without any circus elements. Lush fairways & some of the best greens I've putted. POP was almost 4-hours, a little longer than I'm used to, but didn't feel slow as it was super windy, with a steady 20-25 & gusting higher. The course actually played very fair even in those extreme conditions. Service was top-notch. Definitely should be on your have-to-play list & I will certainly be heading back there for more.

Fairways lush. Not much roll but great. greens receptive, ran medium fast to fast and true. Was in a lot of traps and they were all great. If you are anywhere near here you have to play this course! They now have a phone app that has a overhead view& yardage. The carts have gps and seem to be accurate. The app is a nice feature to see the layout for first time players. The carts also have USB charging ports.

This is a spectacular golf track. It may seem like a bit of a drive from the bay area at first but you will see its not that far (just about 30 miles north of Highway 80 near Davis) and it is well worth it. It is one of the most visually beautiful and best maintained courses in all of Northern California. I've had the good fortune to play the most iconic venues in the area including Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Pasatiempo, and others. And I can say this course stands up to all of those in terms of the layout, the conditions and the enjoyability of playing it. And the staff and hospitality are tremendous. This course is flat out one of my favorites and all of Northern California and I highly recommend it.
