Love this East course and its layout. Tee boxes are healthy and cut, fairways set your ball high and wide enough for off the tee errors, greens are big with undulation but their speed will vary from green to green. BR uses color schemes for their pin placements (red=front, white=middle, blue=back). The challenge is the swirling winds. make safe choices to avoid blowups.

btw...keep your items hidden in your car. had an individual inspect my car looking for a reason to break in. this guy drives and older bmw suv. I wish the golf staff kept an eye out or hidden cameras. this wouldnt be the first break-in in this lot and definitely not the last since the golf staff

Onward on my trip in No. Calif and played Blue Rock Springs East on Friday 8/3 with an old college friend. Got there about an hourly early and noticed the place was packed. A lot of golfers out there which was actually nice to see. Had a 9:02 am tee time and payed $31 through golf now. Went to range to warm and drove back to the first tee early and saw the tee box was open. It was about 20 minutes before our time but we decided to tee off anyway. As we walked off the tee, we heard the starter call out our name to be 3rd up. Ooops! We went ahead anyway and played in about 3.5 hours. Would have been much faster but we were behind a slower 3 some but wasn’t in a hurry and enjoyed the time with my good friend. Now to the course. Not a very long course but it is hilly and in decent condition. I enjoyed the layout and was fun to play. Fairways were decent. Some tight lies but not bad. There really wasn’t much rough to speak of. Mostly dry or hard pan. Tee boxes were ragged and some not level. Bunkers were in good condition but what I liked about them is the rakes were very light weight. I know that sounds stupid but most courses have rakes that are big and heavy. Not here! The greens were really nice. Looked like they were verticut recently but didn’t affect the roll. A little fast with some undulations and you really don’t want to be above the hole putting downhill. Had fun out there. My friend said he had heard rumors of one of these courses closing down. Doesn’t look like that’s true judging by the good Friday crowd. Looking forward to coming back. Recommend!

Thought I might have time to squeeze in one more round this evening, so I called over to Blue Rock Springs and they were super nice. They let me know it wasn't too busy and I'd have a good chance of finishing before dark. They suggested I play the West Course because they just aerated the East this week. However, they also let me know the East was more wide open because of the aeration, so I would be much more likely to finish. I sucked it up and decided to take the safe bet to finish. They only charged me $16 with cart, so it was a good deal. I played through a couple groups, but otherwise zipped around in about 2 hours. The aerated greens were tough, but you can tell they are normally in very nice shape. You gotta have maintenance to keep them nice! Otherwise, the course was in pretty good shape. Fairly lush and green throughout. Fairways a tad on the shaggy side, but mostly good lies to hit from. Tee boxes, fairways and rough were all fairly nice in general. Bunkers pretty well kept, as well. Give the greens a few weeks and they will be just as good as the rest of the course. I enjoyed the layout overall. Has that East/North Bay kind of setting that offers pleasant scenery. Very hilly with a few tricky holes. Good overall course and I could see enough of the West course to know it also looks perhaps even more fun and interesting. I look forward to coming back. Staff super nice and good facilities. Recommended.

Played Sunday, pop:4.15, course is in as nice condition as it can be (muni course) with lush green grass everywhere. Fairways and rough is cut nicely, tee boxes are fine not great and the greens are rolling very nice. $41 includes green fees and cart. Good value for weekend play.

Played Sunday, April 10 2016. Rained lightly but steadily for 24 hours before we played but course held up nicely and to our surprise, 90 degree cart access allowed! Haven't been here for a long time but we had a five some and there are not too many courses that allow five some and most courses are punching their greens. The East course punched 2-3 weeks ago and it tracked well. All you see is green grass everywhere and fairways and rough played fine. Paid $41.00 including cart. I like the East layout with it's mountain top tee boxes(bombs away) and the tough uphill carries. Good value right now.

Haven't played here in a couple of years although have played the West side a few times. I think the reason was that the East course was really beat up at that time and the West was in much better shape. Now the East is in pretty good shape with the greens running fairly true with moderate speed. The East is much more flavorful than the West with it being more of a mountain course. Five par 3's to compete for closest to the hole money, enough length, changes in elevations keep this course interesting and fun, especially now that all green fees for the month of May are only $20.00!

Played Sunday, 3oct10 for $46.00 at 9:28am which included cart and lunch. East course is not as well-kept as West as the tee boxes were chopped up, but the fairways were decent and the greens had just healed and were relatively fast. Carts are kinda slow especially up the hills. Pace was fine for us 5 ballers and btw, we use Blue Rock when we have a fivesome as the only other place I know of that allows fivesomes is Alameda. In both cases no walkers but BR will at least give deals and Alameda does not for non-residents. Still think about the Zodiac killing that couple in the parking lot...brrrr. Lunch was included and the grill got a fortuitous bump by installing a deep fryer for fries! Staff is always pretty nice. Not the fanciest place but it's a decent play. Did not see the weird, irate resident couple this time. Whew!

Overall experience: Fair - it was decent.
Check In: Good- Got an email special before 10 am = $30 riding. Teed off 0920/ 3hrs 25 round.
Tees: Poor - fair, very tired and not level.
Fairways: fair-poor; mainly thin
Rough: fair with lots of hard and dry spots.
Greens: Good- mostly smooth and true and holding approach shots.
Sand: poor- due MANY pebbles in every trap.
Layout: fair to average for the money; Lots of different grasses growing all over the course.

Played August 8, 2010. Paid $46 for round, cart and meal. Got off on time, first few holes were in decent shape but seemed to deteriorate as the round went on. Many of the tee boxes were severely crowned. Had to go back two club lengths to find fairly flat spot to tee off from. Tee boxes and fairways were for the most part a mixed salad. I swear on one tee box there were five different types of grass or weeds growing together. The East course is just simply a mixed bag of course conditions with a course layout that was shoe horned into the hilly landscape. The greens were aerated so it was difficult to get a rhythm of any sort. But...the hamburger bbq included in this deal was pretty good. No fries but their fryer is coming in the next few weeks. In summary, play the West Course if you can and play the East course only if you get a good deal. Oh yeah, there was a twosome in front who were playing multiple balls and were practicing their chipping at times! Nice guys but bad golf etiquette. Have had bad luck with the course regulars here.
