Just returned from playing Bandon Dunes from SAT, April 27th to Tuesday, April 30th.
We were able to get the last April rates before they go up significantly for the summer.
This was recently voted the #1 Golf Resort in America by Golf Digest. It was truly golf mecca. No where else in the US, can you play the #1, #5, #10 and #13 best rated courses all on 1 location.

What a memorable trip! Let me first by saying the pride of ownership is really what separates this golf resort from the rest of the resorts I have been too. Everyone from the caddies, to the bus drivers and staff all truly take pride in their resort. Customer service was A+++, best ever at any golf resort. This resort is for serious walking golfers only. You can't ride any carts to check off any bucket list wishes to play golf, so you weed out a lot of jackasses (they go to Pebble Beach instead). We played Bandon Dunes (#5 best course you can play) the 1st day, Old MacDonald (#10) & Bandon Trails (#13) (back to back) the 2nd day and the 3rd day, we played Pacific Dunes, (#1 rated public course in America according to golf.com)

This was my favorite course out of the 4. It is also voted #1 best course you play in America over Pebble and other favorites. The views are magnificent here, as many holes play right along the ocean. The highlight would be two incredible back to back par 3's on #10 and #11 right next to the ocean. The back 9 is unique has it has 4 Par 3's and 3 Par 5's with 18 being a brutal finishing hole. Greens were in great shape running @ 10. The breeze was stiff @ 20 mph, apparently getting worse than 35 plus in the afternoon. The layout was incredible. Imagine taking Rustic Canyon....and putting it along the Oregon Coast with 10 ocean holes...and 4 holes..right next to the beach. The world's tallest bunker @ 100 feet probably resides at this course on the back nine. Fairways were in great shape with little divot damage and sand was the best shape out of all the courses. I also shot my best score...here at the last round of my trip. Incredible experience.

I did a repeat trip to Pacific Dunes and course condition has changed quite a bit. This is probably the most beautiful and fun layout out of the 4 courses but is in the worst condition. Greens are horrible. Its bumpy and much slower compare to the other courses. It definitely doesn't roll true. I would compare the current green condition to week after my local course aerate their greens. Its also the most windy course out of the 4 (IMO). Lucky thing there is lot of ocean view else it would have been unbearable. We had a choice of playing an extra round and this course was the last one anyone in my group wanted to play again. Honestly, it was a pretty big disappointment. Tee boxes and fairways are in good but not great shape but that's expected for ocean side dunes course. Some of the private courses in my home town would have closed down their greens if they had green condition similar to Pacific Dunes. Unless the greens improve tremendously, I would hesitate to play this course unless they gave 50% discount. Proshop staff were excellent and always accommodating.

Greens have lot of slope and very firm. Plan on bouncing it on and roll it out. Nice mixture of long and short par 4. 2 of the par 4 are practically un parable unless you can drive the ball close to 300 yds. All the long par 3's play shorter. If you're looking for Ocean view course, this is it. You see lots and lots of Ocean. You're so close, you can smell the salt and fish. I played this course 2.5 times. Its also shorter walk than other courses so squeeze in your 3rd round here as its the easiest walk out of the 3. Fantastic view to appease your frustration with quirky greens. Due to frequent play, this course was in worst condition out of the 4 courses.
