Building upon the success of the Top-Flite D2 Golf Balls, Top-Flite has taken the benefits of proprietary Dimple in Dimple Aerodynamics and put it into a three-piece performance golf ball that’s long, soft and generates more short-game spin for total control tee to green. The thin cover is made of a soft ionomer, and when combined with a firm ionomer boundary layer and a highly resilient rubber core, it gives golfers a ball that performs like no other in the Top-Flite lineup. It’s your secret weapon, your “go-to” ball. It’s your Gamer.

Not any different than the Top-Flite Feel... Maybe even a little worse.

So yesterday was try-out different ball day for me. I tried the Gamer and the Freak, both by Top-Flite. The gamer is no different than the Top-Flite Feel. It feels identical, it flies identical, and spins identical. The two differences between them are the Gamer is not as soft putting however I think it rolls a little truer and that you get less golf balls for more money compared to the Feels. It was nothing special.

Yes, it is a 3 piece ball. I bought a doz. for $20 bucks to try. A sleeve per round playing 1 ball per 6 holes. The cover easily scuffed and really looks dirty. I don't like the feel of this ball for putting either.

Price wise, affordable, but then they are looking very dirty with all the cuts and hairy sherds after a round.

The Top-Flite Gamer Has "Game".

This plays similarly to other 3-piece balls I've used (Callaway HX Hot Bite, Srixon Trispeed, Bridgestone e6+) ... Pretty long off the tee, though maybe not quite as long as some premium (expensive 4-piece) balls or 2-piece rocks designed just for distance (absolutely no short game value), but we're talking just a few yards and your distance may actually be better. It's nonetheless pretty good on distance. What I like the most is that it doesn't balloon nearly as much as most other balls. It has a lower, more piercing trajectory that it keeps. There's not much sidespin off the driver (though poor hits will still impart sidespin, as with any and every ball) so my slice is minimized. Yet I can work it, hooking it around trees when necessary. It has good spin around the greens. It will check up and stop without bouncing right off the green. I've even backed it up and that's not something I'm very proficient at, so you may be able to back it up more than me. The feel off the putter is soft, and it rolls true. The only negative is that it scuffs a bit. However a huge positive is that it's a 3-piece ball that sells at the price (around $20/doz) of 2-piece balls. It's a great ball that will probably give you everything you want from more expensive balls. Especially if you're a mid or high handicap player. Callaway is the parent company of Top-Flite and I think they did a very good job with this one. Their Callaway Tour ix and other more expensive balls such as the Pro V1, may give you more, but only if you're carrying a 9 handicap or lower. For the money this is a very, very good ball.
