Good Ball For the Money
Wednesday May 5, 2010
Used to play the Taylormade Burner balls, but never really got the distance as advertised. So I picked up a dozen of these before playing Wailea in Maui and I was glad that I did. These balls seem to fly longer, farther and straighter then almost any other similar ball (Taylormade, Titleist NXT, Top Flite Gamer). Ball doesn't spin as much, but your short game spin you sacrifice for cost and durability...as these balls are very durable. Just found my favorite ball to play with on weekends rounds with the guys.

First of all lets set one thing clear. The pro V1 is the best ball out there, played almost by 100% of non sponsored players, why? nothing beats it. This been said you can add it costs about 50 dollars. So lets safe this precious balls for tournaments. Then you have to look for a ball which is good for the money. Thats when this ball drops in. For about 30 bucks you can get a dozen of these. Its about 40% cheaper than pro V1 but thats not all, they last twice as long in comparisson. A pro V1 will be no good after 12 holes or so. It gets cut too easily and gets egg shaped. The callaway does not. This ball will brobably be sliced into a lake before you have to change it. You loose absolutley no distance, how ever those 20 bucks will cut you a bit short of the amazing spin and feel. However it is still a great ball which I play in about 90% of my rounds. Definitley a ball for everyone as well, not just low handicappers. Tee it and rip it you won't be dissapionted.

I like the Callaway brand and these are among my favorites of the Callaways. I've played 27 holes with the same ball and it still looked decent. Nice feel, good distance. to me, this is a better ball than some of the more expensive competitors.

Great Ball

So I got a sleeve of these for getting a subscription to Golf magazine. I tried them out and really liked them. So before the last Big Dog tourney at Knollwood I picked up a box. These things just fly off your driver.(I was the winner of 2 of 3 Long Drive Contests) As far a short game goes these work for me. I am not one to put a lot of spin on a ball but they seem to stop well. They also feel good off the putter. I find them very durable, where other 3 piece balls fall apart. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good all around ball at a good price.

OK but not Great for my specific game

I played 2 sleeves of these and ended up giving my normal playing patrner the other two sleeves from the box for 1 sleeve of NXT's. The are long and feel good off the driver but lack the feel I prefer around the greens and spin needed for the courses in my area. The ball flight has a lower trajectory which is fine with me and helps the distance but over all it just doesn't fit my swing, game or typical courses. Can find them @ a good value which makes them a viable choice at times.

Loong!

I have been using the HX Hot for a couple of years. At least for me it is about the longest. Bite, on and around the greens, is a bit lacking. I have adjusted (sort of) to the minimalist spin rate but I'm champing-at-the-bit to get my hands on the new HX Hot "Bite."
Also: Please - more feedback on the new TopFlite "Feel" ball.
thanks - dand

Great Ball!

HX Hot's are my ball of choice for courses with slower greens (and we've got lots of those around here). Great, non-ballooning trajectory, and plenty of spin into slower greens. I originally bought some for distance off the tee in Scramble tournaments, but I ended up putting them in play full-time on the slower courses. Logo overruns at $18/doz are hard to beat.
