I recently purchased this item as MINT (Pre-Owned) on Ebay. What a deal! I wont disclose my winning bid.After using it for just one week & several rounds as a Professional Golf Caddie (unit not allowed during tournament play JUST PRACTICE rounds) my review will be mostly positive!

This unit is so accurate,it really impressed me! To get acclimated with it,I first would place a ball marker on the ground,walk off the yardage from that point to the actual cup EX: 30 yards.Go back to the ball marker,press the button once,aim at the cup using the cross-hairs view, BINGO 29.5 yards!
Out on the course,I would select sprinkler heads in the fairway which are measured to the center of the green, aim for the center of the green, BINGO right on the number! I don't know if this unit calculates elevation/slope but it sure seems like it to me. I've had 3 separate players on 3 different courses have 3 NEAR HOLES IN ONE! Tap-in birdies!

I recently found out caddying at Torrey Pines (SOUTH),this LR550(W) has an advantage OVER the other units (Bushnell,ShotLink) because it does not rely upon having a PRISM or a REFLECTOR on the flag to gauge the correct distance.The flag sticks at some golf courses do NOT have the needed equipment for the BUSHNELLS/Pinseekers/Shotlinks to work properly.MAJOR PLUS this unit will measure ANYTHING,front of the bunker,TOP of the bunker,A single tree,a single OB stake,a single Lateral hazard stake,distance to the water hazard entry & INCLUDING the player(s) who are in SIGHT of the viewfinder! EX: How far away they are so you can AVOID hitting into them.

The shortest distance it measures is 11 yards (ADVANTAGE over the GOLF LOGIX & other GPS units) since the satellites cannot gauge yardages LESS than 30 yards! I've used my Golf Logix the past 2 1/2 years and will CANCEL the subscription in December. Another advantage over the GPS units,NOTHING to download,just point,shoot & scan all targets within 8 seconds. Only takes two seconds for one target!

However, you must have line of sight to gauge the distance to the green.ADVANTGE GPS units over rangefinders. EX: IF your ball is in a valley/trench & you have a blind shot to the green,the only distance you'll be able to measure is what the distance to the TOP of the fairway so you can view the green.

It's lightweight,has 6x magnification without using any battery power, ability to view golf balls in the distance whether approach shots are on the green or short of it,viewer is adjustable like on traditional binoculars.

Battery power is CR2, bought TWO pack at Walmart for $9.84 YOU CANNOT USE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES!!! I've been advised it will damage the Nikon rangefinder which acts like a Camera. :(

From the manual, I read it will work in FOG,moist rainy conditions.I Have yet to use it during a rain event.
