I have found this laser range finder to provide very accurate and reliable measurements quickly and easily. It is the most compact laser range finder I have found at 3.5 x 2.5 x 1.5" and weighs only 7 ounces without the standard CR123 battery which is included. This product has improved my game dramatically by being able to dial in specific distances and practice flying the ball exact distances (especially on previously awkward 45 - 65 yard pitches). Coupling this device along with sound practice advice from Dave Pelz or other short game theorists will quickly help you develop consistently reproducible shots and help you become more confident hitting to exact yardages. For the average golfer, it will certainly speed up play and eliminate the problem of having to try to determine yardage weather playing from the trees or in the middle of a fairway on courses where yardage markers seem to be elusive. No more guessing at how far behind the bunker that pin sits, you can swing with confidence. Competing products were found by me to be less accurate, larger, more cumbersome, and typically more expensive. Nikon is a leader in optics and measurement devices as any photographer knows, unfortunately the folks at Callaway knew that and now Nikon only builds for them (and that unit is about $500). I have used the Callaway version and I didn't find the scanning feature to be as easy to use as the Nikon original. Save your money, I guess that they are the same internal parts but 1/2 the price since Nikon has no brand equity in Golf retail stares. At the very least, any of the other laser range finders do work and if you serious about improving and you don't use one of these devices, I guarantee you are missing out on yet another tool or technology that you can use to improve your game and your understanding of how you play your shots/distances.

Seems like the best all around range finder on the market
Monday January 28, 2008
This laser range finder is by far the most accurate and easy to use of any of the range finders out there. The only reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 on accuracy is that it does not work well in heavy fog (and neither do any of the other models currently on the market, including the sky caddy). Otherwise, this is now the most important item in my bag (other than my clubs, balls, and glove). It is especially useful during practice to tune in your distances exactly.
