I'm surprised to see not one review for these fairway clubs even though it maybe outdated (10+ years),thought for sure some kind of reviews.
I really wasn't in the market for another club UNLESS it would be a back up for my LYNX 5 wood (travel set).I just happened to be in Seal Beach, popped into Roger Dunn. LARGE BAG of Woods when I entered the store, marked $9.99 PLUS additional 30% off. REALLY? What kind of condition would these clubs be let alone what would ACTUALLY be in the bag?
Mixed among many different brand drivers, hybrids, fairway woods was a CALLAWAY BIG BERTHA (2nd generation?) 5 wood for $9.99 minus 30%! Well, I had to give it a go!
I proceeded to $pend the next hour using the hitting bay launch monitor comparing to other more modern 5 woods that were available slightly higher px. Kept coming back to the Callaway BIG BERTHA 5 wood,it felt solid, xclnt condition. I STILL needed confirmation this would be a club in my bag not collecting dust!
The small steel head design with the built in "rail" along the middle of the sole of the club, with cut outs to remove weight & turf drag design.Very similar to my LYNX 5 wood so it would be a great back up!
Very easy to hit once I figured out how to adjust my ball position. The REAL test would be "IF" I can hit a baby fade off the surface, grant it,not actual rough but the plastic grass was suitable. SUCCESS, several times...$OLD! What a steal for a deal less than $8.00 for a Firm graphite shafted club!
I will admit the distance was less than I expected but I BELIEVE it's my slower swing speed & lack of playing for the difference. I was able to get it out there in the fairway a controlled consistent 185-190 yard range for a club that is about 18* degrees of loft.
It will be placed in my primary bag & replace the 2 hybrid based upon course set up & conditions. NOT bad for a club that originally SOLD for over $200 BUCKS, got it for less than $8.00! » Close

I don't like to give products "5 STARS", but this time this product has earned a FIVE star w/me as well as other Caddies on tour!
Are you having trouble reading greens, speed, pace & above all breaks? Your seeing things "differently",you are trusting your playing partners line of putt and don't KNOW if they pulled, pushed or just hit a bad putt?
This little item is NOT a GADGET, it WORKS!!! So simple to use it acts like a handymans "leveler" where it determines how much SLOPE in the form of DEGREES of the green. It also determines if the green is downhill or uphill based upon the degrees. It shows the severity of breaks from 0.0 up to 9.9 degrees!
It is NOT legal to use during tournament play...However we use it during practice rounds to gauge & estimate where certain hole locations will be and practice putting to them.
BTW, little tidbit MAJORITY of people do not know this:
This UNIT/Gadget is used by the USGA & PGA associations to determine HOLE LOCATIONS for all PRO tournaments.
Grant it, hole locations need to be so many paces off the green. BUT the degree of slope plays into where it will be "FAIR" for everyone.
I bought my NEW on E-BAY for such a deal! It'w worth EVERY penny. It comes with a manual to better understand how much a putt breaks based on the range of slope. It also comes with a handy pouch for protection & a DVD tutorial as well. Very informative!
To operate, press the button it has an automatic shut off but does give you ample time to place down on the green & see the degrees of slope etc...
It's a GREAT tool to use when practice putting as well! In a short amount of time just using this unit, you will find your eyes or green reading ability greatly improve. So much that you can judge from degree to degree even as minute as it may be (ex: 1* - 3*) We all can tell what 4 degree of slope is just by looking & seeing the green.
Battery life? I don't know how I can measure this,I plan on having back up batteries available just like I do with my Laser. » Close

With so much newer technology out on the market,THIS club still works for my game! I have the 22* lofted hybrid (REG) flex graphite in my travel set (2nd bag) and only get to use it when we are out of town playing courses where I don't have to lug my primary set.
From the first time I used it (bran new) and put into my bag, I KNEW I would have the confidence anytime I used it. Because of the loft (22*) I thought it might be too strong for a 4 Hybrid? Actually it's the perfect replacement & with the slightly shorter shaft compared to other manufactures, I'm still able to get the required distance needed (175-185 yards) without trying to jump or swing harder. In fact, in a recent round thought I was laying up to be short of the green side bunkers ONLY to find out I nailed it close to 215 yards, barely short of the bunkers.
Overall a solid performer even though this model is a few years old compared to what is available in the current market. IF you find one used in very good - excellent condition, grab it it for such a discounted price!
Excellent controllable distance, easy to hit with my natural draw shot. Some players may not like the "cut out" design in the head, I'm here to tell you it's not a problem and I don't even notice it at address.
I LOVE my Cleveland Mashie but this club is NOT the same technology that the Mashie is so don't try to compare... » Close

I've owned the CG15's & LOVED THEM!!! My goal is to play in Senior/Amateur golf events & needed to purchase CC (conforming) grooves for competition. I wanted something that feels & performs the same as my CG15's, I could have purchased CG15's w/ CC but decided to upgrade.
For my game,I know the EXACT loft/bounce configurations (54*/14* and 60*/6*) that I'm looking for. Unfortunately the CG 16 lowest bounce available is 8* degrees of bounce. I'm happy to review not a noticeable problem w/ these wedges.
I recently put these (two) wedges into my primary bag, played about 3-4 rounds now & EXTREMELY happy w/ the all around performance, feel, weight, distance and the advantage of having LASER MILLED grooves all remaining USGA conforming.
Since I purchased these wedges from trusted E-Bay sites for some outstanding deal$, CLEVELAND Golf has come out with several new models. In my opinion, you cannot go wrong w/ theses CG16's, $AVE all of your money & use it towards le$$on$ or green fee$!
I'm putting the CG15's in my travel set (2nd bag) and donating those Snake Eyes wedges which are great wedges just not CLEVELAND performing wedges.
My only KNOCK against golf club manufacturers IS/ARE stop MAKING new equipment every 3 months!!!! » Close

Very nice feel w/ the "cut-out" cavity back helps. Forgiveness was good so this set would help someone who is looking for a slight upgrade from their starter set.
Distance? Seemed ok but I'm use to playing with graphite shafts (Tendinitis condition), vibrations were kept to being very minimal, might be the advantage of the cut-out cavity back.
Solid shots were rewarded when struck properly, was able to work the ball right to left when needed. Accuracy wasn't a problem either, very controllable.
Appearance of the clubs at address seemed to be ok, average weight but not too heavy like some cheaper sets.
The only negative thing I found was the matching golf bag & putter. The bag has pockets, BOTH pockets along the side of the bag are not thick enough to ADD clothing. Re: The matching putter for this set, putts struck slightly off the center face were pushes or pulls very easily. » Close

Distance was solid & what I expected for the loft,at address the club looked like your average hybrid, weighting felt OK.
Work-ability? Meaning able to shape shots seemed difficult compared to my hybrid of the same loft in my travel set. One other note, shot patterns seemed to be pushes to the right, could have been the slightly longer graphite shaft.
In the past, I have demo'd this club compared to other hybrid's out on the market & it was one of the deciding factors when I purchased a competing hybrid that too has "rails" along the sole of the club.
For the price, I think you can find a better hybrid in today's new line of equipment. » Close

Recently rented this set if "XL" Irons from a golf course vs lugging my travel set. The rental price was just $20 which was a deal but for overall performance, distance, play-ability....I know you can do better! These set of irons would be for someone starting out playing the game IF they don't have the money for a more improved starter set.
Iron heads felt on the heavy side,a little clunky when contact was made. Distance? Seemed to lose about 12-15 yards per club compared to my travel set. During my round, always finding my approach shots short of the green, needed to club up to achieve the correct distance.
Irons came w/ two hybrids irons (#4 & #5) as well as a 3 wood. With this 3 wood,I felt I nailed my shots from the fairway yet did not travel the expected distance. Hybrid shots were easy to strike solid, yet same loss of distance result.
The matching putter called the "XL" was similar in design to an Odyssey putter called the "XG Sabertooth". It actually was a solid feeling putter even for a cheapo rental set, ball rolled smoothly.
Work-ability? I don't really recommend this set if you like to work the ball (Draw/fade), in my opinion you can find a better starter set... » Close

My previous set which I played for years (12+) were Forged irons w/steel shafts. I could no longer endure the pain in my elbow,I experimented with a cheapie graphite set of irons I found from a company in Palm Desert. Played that set for about two years and noticed my elbow pain was greatly decreased.
I club test for Cleveland Golf and remember trying out the prototype for the CG GOLD's during various testings. An opportunity presented itself to purchase brand NEW CG Gold graphite irons 3-PW, it think it was 3 years ago when I put them into play as my primary set.
I immediately saw an increase in distance which I expected over the cheapie set but loved the feel, work ability to maintain my natural draw ball flight. The MCT technology makes them feel softer and handle the vibration as advertised. Very limited elbow pain even after hitting close to 100 golf balls on the range off a mat surface.
Playing conditions: I really don't spin the ball but I've noticed my approach shots are a consistent pattern when they hit the green. I know I can trust the ball flight and I find them very accurate.
I've been hard pressed to find a decent set available at my local Roger Dunn store, most sets are really abused.
I could have opted for the CG RED's but felt the CG GOLD'S were a better fit for my game. If you can find these available, I don't think you'll be disappointed. » Close

I am not an artist but I have a CR-8-tive side so I was looking for something different,a fresh new way to mark my golf ball. Anybody can put 2-3 dots on a golf ball THEN have someone walk away with it from your fairway! Now, with the unique creative marking, almost impossible for them to say it's "THEIR" golf ball...HA!
I wanted something very distinguishable & unique.
I've seen those "plastic" stencil type markers available but felt they would be "cheap".
I saw these in a Pro shop, then searched the online selection. I purchased two different designs (Stinger) & (Flutter By). Chose the Stinger which matches my Killer Bee Stinger driver.
I took advantage of the DEAL, buy TWO items, one sharpie to get FREE shipping! FEDEX shipping at that...Each item comes with a soft travel drawstring pouch.
Very solid stainless steel construction, did not SLIP or get loose once around the golf ball while your creating the tracing line. Soft cover premium golf balls (Callaway Tour, MacGregor VIP, Srixon Z-star) seem to grip the tin-cup very well, which aids in getting the tracing CORRECT the first time!
*MUST use a VERY FINE marker to create the tracing line.* After the trace line is established, you can use any marker.
Since I chose the STINGER, it takes time to get it just right like the photo on the website. The Flutter By design does look like the actual design.
I would buy TWO more different designs & have them available in my travel/2nd set of clubs. Ordering is very easy at the company website.
Customer service is average, they have yet to respond to my e-mail or my online tweet via their twittless page.
So if your looking for a different way to mark your golf ball, highly recommend giving these a try! My playing partners noticed a difference when they looked to determine which golf ball was located. » Close

Why $pend so much money on a new putter when you can have your old standby "feel" like a new putter simply replacing the grip.
I've been using the very same putter grip from Winn for the past 5+ years. The color scheme's are different, the one I have is primarily RED w/ black & white marble design similar to the one above.
In my back-up (travel) set, I have one of the original Winn pistol putting grip designs, just plain "BLUE" w/ white Winn lettering. It still has some feel & grip to it,but will replace it too with a WINN pistol grip when the time comes.
You need to try the different sizes that work best for your hands. Winn grips has many choices to choose from and you won't be disappointed once you decide on the correct size. » Close
