Played Yesterday early morning (it was cold). Fairways still a little damp from previous rains and the recent cold weather we have been having. It just seems that the fairways just do not want to dry up, we need Sun and lots of it. Ball rolling okay but still a little muddy in some places. . Greens were the best part of the Course but still a few bunkers without enough sand to have a decent out. Overall the Course was not that bad for the price we paid ($35 bucks).

Played New Years Day (morning). It was Cart Path Only (CPO) but players were diving their carts on the fairways anyway with the Marshal around and not saying anything to the players so we also went ahead and joined everyone else. Fairways still a little soggy in places, Greens were not was I expected, they were fast and bumpy and very moist due to the heavy rains past. Customer Service was fast and quick and only $45 bucks for a Online deal. Was a great way to start the New Year.

Whispering Lakes has always had the reputation of being a not very well kept up Course. It wasn't always like that. Back in the early 60"s this course (then called Ontario National) was a Premier Golf Course and would hold many major golf events. Some of the great players of that era (The PGA tour) would stop there and play like "Nicklaus, Palmer, Casper, Boros, Demeret and many great players of that era. In addition to that many of the old bands like "Duke Ellington, Sammy Davies jr. Wes Montgomery and countless others would preform there at their" Tiki Room lounge" or commonly known as "the Royal Tahitian" which you can see the remains of that Tike Room where the Cart Return area is today. But when the lower deserts golf and resorts like Palm Springs and there on started to evolve this Course (W. Lakes) would become neglected and soon after would just become another typical Municipal City golf course, controlled by the City of Ontario and then renamed "Whispering lakes in the early 90's. Soon after the City of Ontario almost demolished this course in favor of Condos but many of the locals fought this decision by the City and kept it but would NOT put any funds into the Courses condition and that is why this Course is in the Poor condition it is in today. Now the City soon after destroyed the #6 par 5 to a ugly looking par 4 by taking half that Par 5 #6 and making it a Soccer field. Much more to say about that but lets move on to the condition of the course today. As expected the fairways are still in very poor condition, bumpy and hard to find a decent flat lie after a good drive shot. The tee boxes are somewhat decent in some areas of the box but still needs much work but to my surprise just about all the bunkers had much sand in them from what I could see. The greens where the best part of the Course, well maintained and very fast which made my round more enjoyable. Pro Shop personal was quick and friendly. Being Christmas eve the Green fee rate was fair at $34 bucks to ride. This course being only 7 minutes from my house gets a fair amount of players but I truly believe that in the future this course will loose its battle of survival and be the sight for Condos one day because (financially) this Course is just barely hanging on just by a thread. In my area we have already lost "Empire Lakes", Mountain View and soon to lose "Paradise knolls" the only Course in the area is "Goose Creek" which the rates recently just went up.

Got out at 10:15 on the North Side yesterday. My buddy and I was suppose to play the South but we would of had two 5somes ahead of us. The North Side was empty so we went North. We didn't run into any other players until the 17th which was great having the course all to ourselves. Despite the cold weather we've been having the fairways were not that bad. Brown hard pan in many areas of the fairways but still a good lie in most places too. The bunkers we were in hardly had sand in them. Greens were rolling smooth and good despite the many Ball marks left by previous players that early morning. All around conditions were nice, really was a great day playing with one of Nam Vet Buddies too. Customer Service at check-in was very good and quick.

After playing the Valley side first and after a Frost Delay in the morning my buddie and I still had time to play the Palms Side for an additional 18 holes. Conditions were absolutely great. The Palms Side is much more friendlier that the Valley side. But not to be fooled by its beauty and Wider fairways the Course still has some bit. It was great playing these 2 Courses. Customer Service at check in was great and friendly.

Was scheduled to play the "Valley Side" in the early morning first but there was a Frost delay for both Courses (Palms Side) as well. Once they opened both Courses were opened I was excited to see that the condition of the Course was in Fantastic shape. Very Green fairways and Rough. The bunkers I was in had plenty of Sand. Greens were absolutely great, a little slow but great. FYI, the Cold weather in the desert is causing "Frost Delay" for some courses so check with your Pro shop attendant when making your tee time. We still had time to play an additional 18 holes so we jump to the "Palms" side after our first 18 on the Valley side. The Palms side is more friendlier than the Valley side.

Played this morning and was a little bit disappointed. It would be Cart Path all day. Seems that its been cart path only for the past 4 days because of the rains we had. The Sun really hasn't be out to dry the fairways so because of that the Course hasn't been able to dry up as they would like it too. But the Greens were pretty good and so was most of the bunkers. Fairways were still damp from the rains and very soggy conditions in some areas. I think as much as I didn't like cart paths today I think the Course made the right move because it wouldn't take but a few carts to damage the fairways. Everything else was top notch. If you plan on playing "Goose creek" soon, call to see if they are still having Cart Path only.

Played this morning with Nickesquire. Bryan from Canada and Dave from Arizona. Always a great day of golf when your able to play with fine players as well as great guys. Oops, almost forgot. How about another shout out to "Johnny Gk". thanks again for putting this round together. Now about the course. Course was in Fantastic shape from tee to green. Great customer service as well as a very fine Driving Range. Greens were tough to read on breaks and speed but never the less what a Wonderful Course. Definitely a must to play for every golfer.

Played Friday the 6th. Course wasn't too bad. Soggy conditions was to be expected and so it was, especially around the greens and some fairways on some holes. Greens were soft due to the rains but rolled decent enough to have a fair shot at the hole. Tee boxes were okay and some of the bunkers had standing water and were muddy. I would say that the Southside was 80 percent playable. There you go players "know before you go"

First of all a BIG SHOUT out of Thanks to Johnny GK. Check in was good and quick. Cart attendants were friendly and helpful but the attendant at the range was slightly rude the way he reach for a bag of range balls and just tossed them on the counter at me which seemed to me very unprofessional. Played with Gary and Bob, two great players and a pleasure to play with. Course was just as Garry00 said in his review. Course obviously is getting much play, one can tell by the condition of some greens and fairways. Again the Greens need more than a few weeks of healing time after a recent aerafication. Greens were very bumpy which was tough to keep the ball straight. The Sand bunckers I was in had a fair amount of sand which made my ball easy to get out. Still a fabulous layout which I enjoyed. Would definitely play this Course again.

I cant believe that the last "Review" for this Course was back on Jan 19 2019. My buddie and I jumped on the "underpar" voucher and played this Course yesterday. OMG, this Course was in fantastic shape. Greens perfect but tough to read, Tee Boxes level fair to great shape. Fairways in great shape and Customer Service at check in was absolutely fantastic. Cart personal was great as well and very helpful. The only little draw back was the Starter on the first tee box. He needed to be just a little bit more friendly, you know like your happy to be there instead of the Grumpy mood he was in. All around I highly recommended this Course to be played. The pro shop check in girl (Lyndia) at Check in said that we would NOT be disappointed, she was right' We weren't. There you are Gkers " Know before you go"

Played this wonderful layout yesterday and was a bit disappointed in the condition it was in. The fairways are very thin, browning and showing signs of cold weather wear. These fairway condition demand (for some players) precise ball striking or your club is going to bounce into your ball hitting it thin because of the hardest of the fairways. We were the 3rd group out and the Greens are also showing signs of weather wear by being very bumpy and not smooth the way they normally are. The bunkers I was in had very little sand showing lack of T.L.C. But I have always enjoyed this layout and despite the condition it was in I still have it has one of my favorite Courses to play in the i.e. and for the $45 dollar rate for Seniors during the week I think it was worth the drive to play. There it is Gkers now you'll "know before you Go"
