Teed off Tuesday a little short of 7am finishing in 3:50. The previous review from RDDenn was spot on with how long the course is playing. The fairways have very good coverage but are being kept a little long which gives minimal rollout. The rough has good coverage with a few thin/bare spots but is long and penal. Even watching the ball land we still had to hunt for balls in the rough. The greens were in good condition. They rolled with medium/fast speed, mostly smooth, and held solid shots. The fairway bunkers are hard but its a fairway bunker. The greenside bunkers were well groomed with mostly good sand. A couple bunkers were a little thin on sand in the bottoms but playable. The tee boxes had good coverage and were mildly unlevel. I enjoy the layout of Lakewood. The is a nice variety of holes. The staff was friendly.

Teed off Wednesday morning about 7am finishing in 4:15. The greens showed very little signs of aeration. They rolled smooth with medium speed and held shots. Typically when I play here the greens run medium/fast. The fairways had good coverage overall but not much roll-out on tee shots. The only thin/bare spots tended to be around the cart path endings and concrete water gutters. The rough had mostly good coverage and was long enough to affect shots but not overly penal. The bunkers played good with plenty of sand. They were also well maintained other than lazy golfer footprints. The tee boxes had good coverage and are reasonably level. Always enjoy playing the Lagos course. It has a nice variety of holes and some rolling terrain. Grass and matt driving range, chipping green, and two putting greens are available for practice. The staff was friendly.

Always worth the drive from OC to play Goose. Teed off about 10:20 on Thursday morning finishing in 4:25. The greens have recovered well from aerification three weeks ago. The greens rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. Longer shots tended run out a little. The fairways had good coverage and provided decent rollout on tee shots. The rough had good coverage with a few thin/bare spots. The length was long enough to affect shots but not overly penal. The bunkers appeared to be well groomed and in good shape. My playing partners had no complaints. The tee boxes had decent coverage and were mostly level. Goose is a well maintained course with great practice facilities. The staff was friendly.

Played Tuesday teeing off shortly before noon finishing in 4:30. My rating would be a little higher if the greens were recovered from aeration. It's been two weeks since aeration and they need another week to be decently smooth and two weeks to be recovered completely. They rolled with medium speed and are still a bit bumpy. The fairways have good coverage with a few small thin/bare spots. The rollout on tee shots was decent. The rough along the fairways and greens is mostly good and long enough to affect shots but not too penal. The bunkers were a little compacted but very playable. The tee boxes have fair to good coverage. I always enjoy a round at Navy and the staff was friendly.

I hadn't played this course for about fifteen years. With so many of the golf courses aerating last week and this week in the north OC/Long Beach area my options were limited without driving a ways. Santa Anita had a tee available I could book as a single so I jumped at it after reading recent reviews on GK that grass coverage was good. Teed off Tuesday about 7:15 finishing in 3:35. The course has a rolling terrain with plenty of fairway mounding. For a muni it has an enjoyable layout. As mention the course has a rolling terrain with straight and dogleg holes. A nice variety of long, medium, and short par 4s. The starter in the clubhouse was friendly and welcoming.

For a muni the condition were solid. Good coverage throughout. I didn't encounter any soggy areas from last weeks rains. The greens rolled decent with medium speed and played a little firm. The fairways had very good coverage but were definitely on the shaggy side. Very little rollout on tee shots on many holes. The rough had good coverage and long enough to affect shot but not too penal. The bunkers were nicely groomed with good sand. A little wet and compacted but played good. The tee boxes were mildly unlevel with good grass coverage. Enjoyable course on a cool sunny morning and pleasant people to play golf with...a good day.

Played Friday morning, 3/3. Got a tee time as a single teeing off about 7:45 finishing in 4:10. The greens had small hole punches with no sand. The holes had minimal affect on putting. The greens rolled mostly smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. Chip and pitch shots tended to roll out a bit. The fairways had good winter coverage and allowed for decent roll out on tee shots. The rough had mostly good coverage along the fairways and around the greens. There were some thin/bare spots. The length of the rough was winter low and mildly affected shots. The bunkers appeared to be in good condition. I was not in any but my playing partners didn't have any complaints. The tee boxes had fair to good coverage and were mildly unlevel in spots.

As I mentioned prior the greens had small punch holes with no sand. Navy is still planning on aerating the greens with sand in April. No date set. Typically they aerate the greens in the first two weeks of April. On a good note it appears the collapsed water wells are being repaired. There was a crew working on the wells. Always enjoy playing at Navy and the staff was friendly.

Teed off Thursday about 7:25 finishing in 4:05. The greens were in very good condition, aside from a few unrepaired ball marks. They rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. Down hill putts could really roll out if not careful. The fairways had pretty good coverage with some thin/bare spots and decent roll out on tee shots. The rough was mostly good with some thin/bare areas. The length was long enough to affect shots but not too penal. I was not in any bunkers but they appeared to be in decent shape. None of my playing partners had any complaints on bunker conditions. The tee boxes had mostly good coverage. Although the tee boxes can be slightly unlevel in areas the tee markers are set to the width of the box so finding a flat spot isn't difficult. I enjoy the layout of the Lagos course as it provides a decent challenge with some variety. Water comes into play on several holes. Good practice facilities with a large driving on mats or grass for a couple bucks more per bucket. There is also two putting greens and a chipping green. The staff was friendly.

Out to Eldo, one of my go to muni courses, after a nine week layoff. Played on Wednesday teeing off about 6:50 finishing in 4:15. Colder than expected at 37 degrees. So glad I bought a pair of rechargeable hand warmers a few weeks ago to put into my cart mitts.

The course does not drain the best so I wasn't sure what conditions awaited after all the rain in recent weeks. The fairways had good coverage with some wet spots marked with little flags to keep carts and walkers out of the soft spots. Only had to take standing water relief once. Carts were on a 90 degree rule. The rough had good coverage along fairways and greens. The rough was long enough to affect shots but not too penal. Some areas thin/bear mostly in the tree lines. The greens were in good shape. They rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The tee boxes had decent coverage and were mildly unlevel in spots. The bunkers were a mixed bag. They were all well groomed but the sand was inconsistent. Two bunkers had good fluffy sand while the other two I was in the sand was compact and firm but playable. Always enjoy a round at Eldo and the staff was friendly.

Walked on this morning teeing off about 6:50 finishing in 3:35. When I last played Navy in May the course conditions were fairly good. Fast forward two months and a regular player at Navy tells me the conditions had gone down hill significantly including the greens. In August GK reviews confirm that assessment. The good news is the course is making a good recovery with few rough edges. The greens were in overall good condition. A handful greens had a few small bare/thin spots that were sanded but didn't really affect play. The greens rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. Downhill putts could definitely get away if not careful. The fairway mostly had good coverage with decent rollout. There were some thin/bare spots scattered about. The rough is low with mostly good coverage along the fairways. The farther off the fairway the ball goes the less grass there is on some holes. The rough around the greens has good coverage and is low as well. The bunkers were in good condition. The tee boxes have decent coverage and are mildly unlevel in spots.

The ponds are still dry but considering the lack of rainfall and two collapsed water wells waiting for repair growing grass is more important. Really enjoy the layout of the Navy Destroyer course. Glad to see the condition are coming back around. Navy has good practice areas, a nice cafe and bar, and the employees are friendly.

Thanks to Johnny for setting up a Guru round and thanks to Indian Wells Golf Resort for having us out. Always an enjoyable round playing with Gary and Steve in my group. The club house and pro shop are very nice. There is a nice grass driving range with balls included. The staff was all friendly and willing to help. There is a small self parking lot but valet parking is free. Golf bags are shuttled down and placed on a cart. I like that there are water and ice machines out on the course and a plastic cup is on the cart. Great service and amenities all around.

This was my first time playing at Indian Wells Resort. I found the Players course layout to be quite enjoyable. Nice mix of Long and short par 3s and 4s. The cart GPS hole layout was very helpful at times. You can't always see the landing surface. The hole layout screen also shows the distance to the carts of the group ahead. There a plenty of tee box choices to suite your game. Look forward to playing the course again. Some course knowledge will definitely help the scoring next time around.

The greens were in very good condition. Rolling smooth with medium/fast speed and held well struck shots. The fairways had great coverage and allowed for some rollout on drives. The rough is getting winter thin so most lies were decent. The bunkers were well groomed and had a decent amount of sand. The tee boxes were reasonably level and had good coverage. A nicely manicured course all around.

Teed off Thursday morning about 7:40 finishing in 4:05. The greens have fully recovered from aeration. Putts rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairway are a mixed bag. The majority of the fairways have good coverage and good lies. Unfortunately, at this time there are a lot of thin browned out areas. The rough has mostly good coverage with some thin/bare areas. The length is long enough to affect shots put not too penal. The bunkers were nicely groomed with ample sand. The tee boxes were fair to good. Some of the tee boxes had fertilizer spread but they were open for play. The staff was friendly.

Teed off about 7:15 Wednesday morning finishing in 3:50. The greens have recovered from the heat wave of a few weeks ago. They were lush and green. The greens rolled with medium speed, smooth, and held shots. The fairways are a little bit better than a few weeks ago. Mostly good coverage with some thin areas scattered about. The rough has mostly good coverage with some thin/bare spots and was long enough to affect shots but not too penal. The bunkers were in good condition. The tee boxes had decent coverage although they are mildly unlevel like most courses. The staff is always friendly.
