Weather: Cool (low 50's) Clouds w/precipitation chance of 70% by midday
Time: Tee'd off 12:50 (Mountain time)
Pace: "SINGLE" player in motorized cart (less than 3 hours) caught a two ball (husband & wife) on the back nine, still they were moving along too!

Practice Range/Putting green: The first thing that catches your eyes from the practice range is the background Red Rock scenery. With wet weather threatening, I $pent little time putting only, no warm up on the range! Greens were fast & rolled true just like out on the course.

Customer Service: Everyone of the staff is friendly anytime I've been here...you won't see any handlers to load up the cart for you which is OK by me. After my 3 hr round, I still had plenty of daylight left to play the front side holes again. I asked the Staff, no problem just be back by 5:15pm (UTAH time).

Layout: OK, this is by no means a long golf course (6380), most Par 5's are reachable. Some drive-able PAR 4's but sometimes it might be better to hit to a number than face an very undulating green with a front flag stick location on #15. The secret to scoring here is to make sure you land in the appropriate spots in the fairway.

BE$T deal? $2.00 very simple yardage book (GPS units are no longer available on the carts) The yardage book gives you the layout & the numbers to KEY areas (bunkers/hazards). Holes #16,#17 & 18 have spectacular scenery, worth the price of admission which was a deal too! The final four out of five holes are definitely risk/reward holes. For those who have played the 18th, a rock formation has replaced the TWO left side bunkers leaving just the ONE bunker on the right side. However, the rough is thicker than I remember playing in the summer.

ROUGH: Average height about 3" inches but thick too.

FAIRWAYS: Almost perfect, I gave it a 9/10 rating, VERY GREEN conditions especially for this time of the year. My hat off to the Superintendent & their staff.

GREENS: 9/10 downright perfect! No ball marks, no un-repaired ball marks like I experienced once during the summer. Pace? Fast...rolled true, didn't take me long to adjust to the speed, glad I spent some time on the putting green.

BUNKERS? I was NOT in one all day...shocked me too! Thought for sure I'd find one on the Par 3's or on the long Par 4 holes. I did take time to step inside the bunker & notice the conditions, gave them a good rating.

TEE BOXES: I noticed some new Decorative fencing around the tee boxes, very nice to see these additions as well as some extra landscape (rocks) and dry rock bed's added along hole #7 and a few others on the front nine. All markers are well marked, having the $2.00 yardage book helps too.

For "ME", this course continues to be a favorite of mine, I like this layout! I KNOW there are other choices in Utah, but when I only paid $30 vs $100 in prime time season, couldn't pass it up.

One other note, Hole #4 green SEVERELY slopes back to front and with a front flag stick location, you must be precise with your approach yardage number!

Dec. 9th & Dec. 12th (Practice & Tourney Rounds).
Pace (Practice Round) 4 hours
Pace (Tournament round) 5 1/2 hrs

Course was looking outstanding as I drove by and into town from the I-15.

Customer Service: Excellent! From the bag drop w/ the outside staff through when you check inside the Pro shop/Clubhouse.

Layout: Challenging but playable for ALL skill levels. The printed scorecards have the incorrect SLOPE & RATING printed. For close to TWO years now, prior to the floods in Mesquite, I have on several occasions pointed it out that the SLOPE & RATINGS are incorrect! This course plays tougher than the 72.5 / 130 rating

http://www.casablancaresort.com/PDF/CasaBlanca%20Scorecard.pdf

The following are from the USGA National Database provided by the local Associations:
Double Spades 74.0 /145 M
Spades 72.1/132 M
Clubs 69.9/124 M
Diamonds 68.0/121 M

FAIRWAYS: Excellent conditions, over seed turned out magnificent! Prior to the the PRO event, majority of divots were filled and very consistent lies. Clearly defining the rough from the fairways.

ROUGH: Length varied from 1" up to about 3" inches. The locations near the fairways bunkers seemed to be thicker meanwhile the rough around the green side bunkers were not as penal to play from. For the big hitters trying to reach those par 5's in two was not a problem.

BUNKERS: Overall the sand was consistent, medium to soft texture but certainly not fluffy. I noticed some par 3's need a serious rake job (not from foot prints) but have the maintenance guys sift the dirt?

TEE BOXES: Very Good conditions, average divots on the PAR 3's. Tee boxes are separated by the desert landscape and well marked. Players will certainly know if they are playing the Diamonds, Clubs, Spades or Double Spades. Forward tees are Hearts. TAKE NOTICE on Hole #1, a plaque indicating the Jason Zubrak (Long Drive Champion) drove the green from the nearly 400 yard tee marker.

GREENS: EXCELLENT, semi-fast, very consistent, hardly any ball marks or incorrectly repaired ball marks. Firm but can be soft, shots were receptive.

PRACTICE / PUTTING / PITCHING area: All grass range, no mats (DRESS CODE is ENFORCED) One of my favorite practice areas to work on my short game. Several bunkers too to practice from. LARGE putting green, similar conditions what you'll see on the course in the form of undulations & speed too.

We always love playing this layout whenever in town...

Date: Practice round 12/10/2012, Tournament round 12/11/2012
Tee time: 10am Shotgun (Carts/Walkers)
Weather: Windy, cold with a 30 minute frost delay.
Pace: 5 1/2 hours Tournament (Practice round 4 hours)

Layout: Front 9 holes, what you see is what you get is right in front of you, wide fairways no trickery. Back 9 holes? course tightens up and with a elevated holes beginning with hole #10 Par 5. Some holes on the back make accuracy a must to score!

Greens: Excellent conditions compared to the summer time! Speed/Pace medium to maybe a little pace, certainly not fast. Firm but soft & receptive holding shots.

Fairways: Very good conditions overall before the tournament, I'm sure it will be a minefield AFTER holding the TWO round tourney followed by a charity event this past Thursday. Most divots were being filled.

Rough: Varying locations, some spots could be almost 3 1/2" and around the green at least 2" very consistent especially around the par 3's.

Bunkers: Gave it a poor rating, seemed on the thin side, more like dirt than sand with pebbles/stones in the bunkers. Very hard to control shots.

Tee Boxes: Very good condition and well marked. Most sprinklers are marked in the fairways & the rough, helped having my Pro yardage book though since some markers are incorrect in my opinion.

Overall you think you should be able to score on this layout then you wonder where you lost strokes?

* THE LARGE PRACTICE PUTTING GREEN IS NOW A FARM * There is ONLY a postage sized putting green to practice!!! At this time, no plans to make any changes which is disappointing. As it is, there aren't many areas in town to work on your short game.

Date: Monday Nov. 19th 2012
Time: 1048am (on time, called to the first tee 1045am)
Tees: Blue
Weather Conditions: Sunny, warm, very light breeze (not a cloud in the sky).

It has been many years since I last played here,I use to own a town home between the 3rd green & 4th tee box. At that time, always played a twilight rate when I lived here.

My wife won a "$ilent auction" for a 4-ball discount meanwhile the rack rate is like $95?
We chose this Monday for many different reasons & I was looking forward to playing here. It was myself,Gadget Girl, her closest friend Andryce and we had an open spot, invited Dconnally since he lived nearby.

We arrived an hour early for our tee time,ONLY mats were allowed to hit balls from. A gentlemen gave us his remaining practice golf balls (Close to 40) to use since he was called to the tee box. On the range, there were TWO rectangular targets (One UCLA colors & One USC colors) 88 yards (laser) I don't know if they were up just for the BIG GAME. There are TWO putting greens to choose from with many hole locations, where one is located right next to the 10th tee box. Did not see a chipping area that I recall.

LAYOUT: I know it's been a few years,it surely has matured over the time. The layout is the same just the trees come into play on several holes, that's IF you let them get in your head! You need to play a shot what the hole calls for...It's a challenging layout but very playable for all skill levels. The front (9) fairways are wider than the back (9).
Hole #10 gives you a chance at making birdie and getting back on track after playing the front (9). Holes #17 & #18 are pretty tough to finish strong on...

BUNKERS: Inconsistent, some were dirt, one had wet sand/dirt while some others were soft to fluffy sand. I gave them a good rating overall just a little inconsistent, doesn't look like maintenance is required compared to other courses we've played.

TEE BOXES: Some of the PAR 3's had boxes closed but not a problem since other options were available and very playable. Grass seemed to be longer than what I remember.
A very nice mixture of PAR 3's. Divot sand mix available on all the par 3's. I observed the refill sand in all of the locations to be WET and heavy. We did our best to refill when we could.

GREENS: In my opinion, the greens were soft & very receptive but then again I was using my Srixon Z-star model golf ball. My typical approach shots were holding the greens easily. Speed of the putting surface was EXACTLY the same speed out on the course.
Medium pace majority of the time, rolled smooth & true, have healed nicely! Some ball marks, only saw a few repaired incorrectly where the roots were exposed. Took the time to touch/fix the one's we could.

FAIRWAYS: On Monday, the course overall is playing longer! There is NO ROLL from tee shots on the front nine, don't know IF the recent rain played a part but we were allowed to observe the 90* rule (Other carts on the course were not,you could see where the track marks were) The balls were sitting down & I would estimate the fairways height were 1" meanwhile the rough was mostly 3" ALL very lush...I struggled with chip & pitch shots out of both the fairway & rough. In hindsight, should have probably used my wedge with the 14* bounce vs the 8* of bounce in the fluffy lies. OVERALL the course is GREEN & LUSH! The starter asked us to refill our divots and we tried our best (see above wet refill mix).

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Eric the starter was very pleasant, easy going. We saw a MARSHAL on the course many times & he was not being distracting at all!!! Did his job perfectly. Kept his distance as needed. My only knock would be the maintenance guys probably need to be told to SHUT DOWN the BLOWER while people are putting on the green or in the fairway waiting for it to clear. SITTING PARKED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WAS IRRITATING...

For a DEAL it's worth it...but NOT for what they are asking...

If you need a restaurant to go to? Check out Peppino's on Lake Mission Viejo. Dinner portions are HUGE, excellent tasting too!

This will be combo review for TWO different dates inside a weeks time.

Layout: Explore San Diego's Only Tom Fazio-Designed Masterpiece (over the years were different names). A few years ago, was featured in the now defunct "Golf for Women" magazine, a course that is playable for women golfers too.

From the website: "Voted “Golf Course Architect of the Year” three years in a row by Golf Course News, Tom Fazio is renowned for his strong sense of environmental design and challenging-but-fair golf. Perhaps that’s why 14 of his designs made Golf Digest’s list of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses."

The signature #17 Par 3 now has multiple tees for all levels, it's a semi-island green with a well protected bunker on the right side of the green and a great demanding finishing 18th hole Par 4.

http://www.thegranddelmar.com/assets/Uploads/600X400Gallerygolf18.jpg

The Par 3 9th hole despite having a very undulating 3 tiered green has had quite a few Holes-In-One including for a Z28 Camaro June 2012 and BACK to BACK from the same group about 2 months ago.

Some of the greens have false front's, a signature from Tom Fazio. Beautiful views overlooking the resort on hole #4 & #13, the highest elevated tee box is #15 and the drive-able uphill PAR 4 #14.

There are several tees to choose from, The WHITE tees are plenty golf course for the average player, step up to the BLUE tees and the course plays different.

Cust Svc: Perfect! from the time you arrive at the Bag drop till the end of your round, players are given wet face cloths handed to them on a silver platter to wipe their hands, face etc...Corporate events or large groups enjoy delish lunches prepared by the Chef in large boxes, the baked chips are so good too! Adult Mobile beverage cart is available for players and Forecaddie's are used before the Twi-light rate to help you navigate the course.

GREENS: Current greens are ALMOST perfect, speed above medium to fast, rolled true,no bumpiness,VERY LITTLE ball marks on the green and are being repaired correctly! Having Forecaddie's defitintely helps with the process of keeps the greens close to pristine.

FAIRWAYS: Most divots are being completely filled with sand, each cart has TWO sand bottles and there are refill stations located on the par 3's. The course no longer overseeds, they'll make the course cart path only when needed. The Grand also employs and rotates ENTRY & EXIT stakes (Brown with White Tops) to minimize wear on the rough from the cart path. Very good overall conditions right now.

BUNKERS: Perfect medium sand and very consistent. There are plenty of these located throughout the course, just not pure white sand in this stock photo.

I saw a post for "MEET UP" @ Eagle Glen by DConnally,a course I have never played but had been to the clubhouse on different occasions a few years ago. The view from inside the Clubhouse @ the time was pretty spectacular to see.

Played: Sunday 1:50 tee time
Group: Twosome (sandwiched behind a 4 ball and a 3 ball behind us)
We thought the starter "JIM" would pair us up with the 3 ball (5 some).

Time: 4 3/4 hrs TOOK 3 hrs to play just the front 9 holes! Played 15 holes before #16,#17,#18 were in total darkness, could have used GLOW balls!

Cust Service: Fair. When I checked in to pay,I waited some time before paying, was told Dconnally still needed to pay? Duh! he paid and had a receipt to show it when he arrived ahead of me. Practice time wasted? 15+ mins.

Practice Range: Putting Green was CLOSED for an event the following day! All kinds of games & hazards were being set up. So there goes anytime spent to get a feel for speed of the greens. Grass driving range, beat up, tough to find actual grass.
Small bucket range balls $5.00, Taylormade yellow practice balls.

Since the putting green was closed, I saved 5-7 balls to go and practice chip. I'm walking over to the PRACTICE CHIPPING area, someone yells out Sir that it's closed. I sarcastically responded "Both the Putting green & Practice chip green are closed, I HOPE the course is OPEN?"

It turns out it was OPEN, full of golfers! 9 Holes took 3 hours. We had on every tee box a 4 some waiting for the fairway/greens to clear with OUR 2 ball and the 3 ball all waiting on each and every hole on the Front 9.

Why? The "PLAYER A($)($)itance Marshal goes home by 2pm! I saw him pass by when we tee'd off on number one. At the time thinking he was going to survey the back nine holes....It's QUITTING time! You guys are on your own, the damage has been done..

Bottom line: Cust Svc gets a "FAIR". Btw, the cart girl came by once, she was busy taking care of all the golfers and did advise us we probably won't see her again. She said every hole has golfers on it when we saw her on hole #6.

Layout: Reminds me of playing the Champions Retreat before the play-ability changes not too far away. It's very challenging, the carts do have GPS screen units but if your like me, having a yardage book sometimes is better. Definitely helps to play this course a few times.

GREENS: Super firm! I was amazed my Srixon Z-stars were actually able to hold wedge shots but longer irons actually would run off the green. Average ball marks not being repaired but players are doing a better job of fixing correctly.Only saw a few with the roots destroyed (rookies). Some greens were a little softer, only a few greens are in recovery mode for being aerated. Some bumpiness, but still playable.

Pace/Speed/Stimpmeter? I'm tempted to get my hands on an actual Stimpmeter, I felt the greens were no faster than an "7", slow to medium NOTHING faster as someone posted.

FAIRWAYS: It's over seed time of the year but below average right now. Divots? We used both our bottles and never saw a refill station, we did our job! Patchwork in some locations. Rough? really non-existent & bare in spots.

One hole looked like there was an actual CRIME SCENE taking place! Lots areas marked "GUR".

BUNKERS: Almost perfect the few times I was in them, soft sand but not fluffy soft. Usual footprints too. Yes, there was a rake just a few inches away.

#17th Par 3 is getting a tee box makeover, so we were moved to the down tee box in the dark! Would have been nice to see what they are doing? It was coned off like a CAL-Trans freeway project!

HOLE #2: NEEDS DESPERATELY A TALLER FLAG STICK AND IT"S NOT BECAUSE I'M SHORT. The hole is all uphill and with the flag stick on the back tier, impossible to see from the 150 yard marker. Unfortunately,my tee shot made the ledge in the fairway then slowly rolled backwards off the slope back down the hill.

One other note of worthiness: There was a Wedding taking place inside the clubhouse. Who's F-N idea is it to have a Newly Married couple drive around the golf course and take pictures when there are ERRANT tee shots that can happen anytime on the back nine? JUST my .02 cents worth.

I'll be back but NOT on a weekend...

Week of Oct. 14th - Oct. 19th
Site of First Stage of PGA Qualifying School.

http://www.classicclubgolf.com/Accolades_600aa423c03293a6f21a28.html

Course is now closed for over seeding, there will be a GK event taking place in December. This review were the days of the PGA Q-school event.

Rough? Surprisingly there was no rough to speak of,barely an inch in height in most areas but some spots were about 2" but not thick at all.

Fairways: Keep in mind the course staff had to balance holding a PGA event meanwhile getting the course ready to be over seeded once the event was over.
There was also a NCAA Girls golf event prior to Oct. 15th Very playable conditions, just some areas were showing signs of wear (see above).

Bunkers: Two bunkers of the seven plus my player found throughout the four days, there was very little sand beneath the golf ball which surprised us. In the rating, this is where I'm giving a poor rating.

Greens: Immaculate, hardly any ball marks or incorrectly repaired marks. Very firm, fast pace on the bent type putting surface. The so called "Indio" effect was NOT prevalent on all the greens. Some green speeds varied and this is including some uphill putts that were surprisingly a much faster pace. After all, it was 1st stage of PGA Q-school. Pay attention to where the slopes of the greens are, some are subtle.

Tee boxes: Immaculate! Several available for all skill levels...

Layout: The Professional yardage book is now $30 if you think you need that kind of information which includes +/- yardages for slope & wind direction. Plenty of visual trickery off the back tees. Each Par 3 is totally different from the other, a very nice mixture. Holes #9 & #18 can be reachable Par 5's if the wind is not blowing, birdie still very make-able if you lay-up correctly provided the tournament is not on the line.

One note: Hole #10 is a hike away from the clubhouse and still a distance away from hole #9. I walked more than just the 72 hole event!

Practice Facility: Large putting green, separate chipping green and grass practice range.

Staff: Customer service perfect! Very sizable Clubhouse with meeting rooms/banquet hall, outdoor patio overlooking the stream and hole #9.

If I forgot something, you'll just have to come here to see for your self in December (Gk event).

Over the past couple of years, each & every time I've been to this layout there has been NON-stop working going on by the Maintenance crew and the course is wet in many spots of the fairways.

On this day, in which a charity event was being held was NO DIFFERENT!

I spoke with some of a the ground crew, they were shaking their heads, they do not understand all the changes by the Superintendent.
The course is NOW going to Kikuyu after removing and $pending extra money on other grass surfaces the past few seasons.

Tee Boxes: On this day, a MAJORITY of the tee boxes were being re-sodded, certain tee boxes were closed and there were bulldozers & backhoes with crews working on Hole #13 They did NOT stop for us to tee off, just kept about their business at hand.
With that said, several tee box markers were bunched up on the same tee box. The players were disappointed for not playing from the correct tees. If I recall, one of the par 4's they Men & Ladies were hitting from the forward most tee box.

Greens: They were healing from being aerated and were coming along ok but not without the bumpiness. Speed was very inconsistent from green to green. Ball marks being repaired incorrectly.

Bunkers: Were in excellent condition for being medium firm.

Tee Boxes: Each and every one had maintenance going on. Some tee boxes were not level.

Fairways: Some of the holes had many areas for patchwork in the fairway and were cart path only. I'm glad I wore my Gortex waterproof shoes, found unexpected areas that contained lots of water for a being a dry summer.

IF you have not played this layout, might be worth getting a yardage book for $7.00?

Layout: Strange to have TWO par 3's back to back (Holes #7 & #8) Average layout and for the money? Way overpri$ed.

Our first trip to the Sedona area in close to 15 years!
This was a first time golfing for us and it won't be our last trip...

We chose to play this layout first, the 2nd layout (REVIEW to follow) was highly recommended by GK'er DCoachL down in the Phoenix area.

On this day, TWO airline pilots (they drove up from Phoenix to get out of the heat).
It was still 105 degrees, a whole lot better than 115!

It was their first time playing this layout as well...Despite having one of the pilots all over the map, there were times when he could have taken a plane to get to his ball!
Always seemed like he was playing the wrong fairway all day long..

With that said, it's a playable layout for all skill levels there are some recovery shots available provided you can find your ball.

Overall conditions were excellent! I made it a point to tell the Pro Shop staff.
Btw, a former LPGA player just happens to work at this golf course.

We (I) found a deal on golfnow.com with a cart & range balls.
It's a hidden gem of a course and with the conditions it's a BONUS!

You won't be disappointed when you are up in this area. The Sedona scenery is fantastic! This little old Country Club is a MUST PLAY!!!!

Played: Monday July 9th
Tee Time: 1115 am
Group: 3 Ball
Pace: 4 hours
Tees: BLUE

Like to thank Shebylo & Shazza for joining me for a relaxing round on a challenging golf course, felt we played the appropriate tees (BLUE). I told Shebylo that the CHAMPIONS course will have a little more bite to it than the other layout (Legends) which they played a short time ago.

As promised, I decided to make the long drive to see how the upgrades and improvements to the bunkers would look like. A few months ago, the bunkers were in AWFUL condition and this was at the time qualifying was taken place for a few PGA tour sponsored events. The bunkers were so bad, a "discussion" was created and it prompted a response from the Superintendent!

I am applauding @Green2t and his entire staff for a job well done!!! (Read my post under) " Magnificent Improvement" posted on July 10th.

This layout will be holding a Mini-Pro event the week of July 15th, it's a 4 day event. Might be tough getting a tee time, highly recommend playing a twi-light round to take advantage of some very good conditions.

BUNKERS: WOW!!! totally a night & day transformation has taken place and it goes beyond just ADDING sand to the bunkers. The staff took their time, promised it would happen but we as GKer's needed to be patient through the process. A date was posted, I'm here to tell you THE STAFF GOT IT RIGHT! perfect sand conditions, no guesswork needed. KUDOS...

Greens: I believe the staff spend some time doing Poa Annua reduction treatments to the surfaces. The day we played, greens were slower than I know what they are capable of being. Soft conditions, we tried to fix the ball marks that we saw left behind "lazy" players. Be patient, the greens on the LEGENDS course were attended to first I believe. I thought I read a top dressing was put down some time ago?

Most approach shots held the greens for the most part, I was using a 3 piece ball which helps. Lots of undulations, can have some really tough hole locations, local knowledge helps where you need to place your approach shots. Don't get me wrong, birdies are available.

Fairways: Most of the course was in good condition, no real complaints for this time of the year. Very playable lies just some areas were a little dry and some were wet in the fairway. Btw, the fairways are wider than they look on some holes.

Tee boxes: Not looking too bad, I consider average wearing with maybe a few uneven levels...just move one club length back.

LAYOUT: What a fun, challenging, deceptive layout!

EX: Hole #13: IF you look at the actual layout link here:
http://www.tukwetcanyon.com/images/championsHole13.jpg
Makes you think you have to play it to the left side of the fairway just past the fairway bunker. From there your approach shot is semi-blind because your blocked by the reeds and cannot see the elevated green. YOU actually can play a draw up the right side (wind is from the right) and land on the other side of the hazard short of the bunkers.

Each hole is unique, not one hole looks like any other on this layout even the par 3's are different. What a great 18th finishing hole! RISK/REWARD, water is in play on the tee shot yet it doesn't look like it.

Practice Range: ALL grass locations, excellent chipping area with a practice bunker too.
VERY large putting green which is just like what you'll see on the course.

Clubhouse & Staff: Friendly, cart person came around close to 5 times...must have been not as crowded on the course. VERY nice clubhouse which overlooks #18 green. I highly recommend having a GK PLAY day if possible since there are TWO 18 hole layouts.

Played: June 28th 2012 (Wife's Birthday round).
Time: 3:45pm Twi-Light Rate $55 w/ cart for NON-Birthday player.
Group: TWO ball.
Pace: 4 3/4 hours made 18 holes (Barely! Finished @ 8:25pm) read on...

I have never played Tustin Ranch, (Gadgetgirl) loves this course! She always played it (twi-light) with the EWGA women's group in the summer but it has been some time.

We read all the reviews that this is the BE$T place to $pend your Birthday round so we decided to book a twi-light rate even though the Birthday player has no restrictions. Twi-light green fees are $45 to walk/$55 to ride since our time was late, wanted to see the entire course via using a motorized cart vs walking.

PACE: Motorized Cart? SUPER SLOW....Took us close to 2 3/4 hrs JUST to play the front nine. At the time, we thought because EVERYONE was $aving money and were going out for the much cheaper twi-light rate.

We expected to wait since we were just a TWO-ball group sandwiched between a 4-ball in front and a 3-ball behind us. We saw the guys in front of us waiting @ the Clubhouse at the turn. We asked to play through, sure, no problem. THESE four players were SEVERAL holes behind! We cruised on the back nine, didn't see ANY players in front of us till hole #15 who were on the green! GEEZ....FRIGGIN Marshal just driving around like it's a day in the park...not doing his job.

Conditions: Since it was my very first time actually on the course, I was very disappointed. Keep in mind, I always heard (GadgetGirl) rave about the conditions at one of her favorite courses in the past. This is why I chose to play Tustin Ranch on her B'day.

We played June 28th - Twi-light rate I cannot IMAGINE how they can have people paying the weekend rack rate of $160 PLUS cart fee!

She was very disappointed as well...ALL the years she has played this course, it was in the worst conditions she has ever seen it. Grant it, most muni's would love to have these kind of conditions right about now. However, the course has the B***S to charge top dollar. Range balls are $14.00 for a large bucket.

Bunkers: Were in excellent condition! The course PROVIDES very long handled Rakes at each and every bunker but players somehow cannot find them? WAY too many deep footprints, unraked bunkers, I even posted a picture and my cell phone couldn't capture it all due to shadows.

Greens: Way to many un-repaired ball marks, WE must have fixed close to 10 per hole each! I told the Marshall after the round, IN one ear out the other! 18th green? Looked like a MOONSCAPE with so many marks, LAZY players in a hurry to EXIT the green vs fixing their marks. Speed? so inconsistently slowwwww....looked fast but weren't AND it's not because they were shaggy.

Suggestion to the course: Instead of having someone from the staff be "concerned" about running to our cart to clean clubs while we are on the green, have SOMEONE from the staff fix & repair the BALL MARKS on the 18th green between groups. There had to be a 1 1/2 hours in between groups arriving ahead of our pace.

Fairways: Browning in spots, casual water in many area's of the fairway, NOBODY uses the 90* rule or even know how to do so, track marks from the carts everywhere. I dinged the rating mainly for the fairway conditions, very disappointing not just my view but from my wife who KNOWS what the course should look like....

Layout: TAKE away the beautiful PAR 3's and the 18th hole, THIS in my opinion is a very boring, predictable,OVERRATED golf course design. There are other choices in the are that I would rather play for the same conditions, $o much Cheaper and more fun to play/walk.

Range: Really? MATS kind of thin, sitting on concrete & people driving by in motorized carts. Gotta be careful not to nail someone walking or driving by..very distracting thinking I might swing and hit someone...

FOOD: Xcellent! Customer service in the restaurant top notch...But I thought it was odd/strange to have the "waiter" explain how to us on how we need to putt on these greens even after my wife said she's played here many times...

Overall: IF you want to use your Birthday round here, it's a great deal! I personally would rather go someplace else that we BOTH could enjoy our day together...
