I was able to join some of the GK Gurus Sunday 2/26 for a mid day round at Westlake. I have to say I was quit impressed for an executive course. Course was well manicured and in pretty decent shape considering all the rain we have had lately. All in all a great day on a challenging short course. It was nice to have to break out a few irons on par 4s and really think about your approach. Fairways were heavily bordered by large trees, so trying to rip the long drives to go for it didn't always pan out. The course was no doubt soggy, but managable. A few puddles and a decent amount of mud made for some interesting lies and muddy balls. Greens were surprisingly fast even though soft from the rain. Pin placement proved very challenging on many holes. The course was mostly lush besides the mud. Bunker were hit or miss depending on the amount of water. Pace of play was great and the course was rather empty. I would recommend playing if you are in the area to hone your short game and approach play.

I had a chance to play Costa Mesa Country Club (Los Lagos) on monday with Corey McCartney at a great price of $29 with cart. We jumped on the 2pm tee time and hoped to get through 12 or so by dark. With all the rain the course was green and long but had lots of mud and standing water. You had to drive down the sides of the rough and fairways were fenced off. There was a ton of damage to trees and the driving range due to high winds. I must say for the less then ideal playing conditions, pace of play was great as we picked up in the dark on 18, almost making it through a full round. Fairways were left long due to mud and not being able to mow. It was a challenge to get distance after landing as the ball did not roll well and occasionally plugged in the soft fairways. Greens were gorgeous but soft and slow. Tee boxes for the most part were great and lush. It is amazing seeing of local courses so green but they need to dry out a bit. All in all great price and great day if you don't mind a little mud on your shoes. This spring should be awesome when the rain goes away!

Had a chance to play Sky Links on Sat 1/7/17 and jumped on it with Gregholla and his girlfriend. We were paired with a two some. Pace of play was surprisingly decent as were one of four back to back fivesomes. Course was in good shape and looking to be improving with each rain. Fairways rolled very well and you could really stretch out well hit drives. As far as layout of the course it was really fun to be able to take some risk by cutting corners on dog leg holes if you could get the distance. Greens were soft but rolled true and at a medium speed. Bunkers were nice fluffy white sand and some proved to be pretty challenging with depth. All and all I really enjoyed this course. The only thing I would say was negative was the price even after finding a hot deal round cost were near $50. If it were a little nicer i wouldn't hesitate to play more often as the course is really fun.

I played the Sun Course on 11/13/16 for the GK Plays event and was once again blown away by the perfection of Paiute. This is now hands down my favorite place to play. This is what you dream of when you think of what a golf course should look like. Greens were perfect, firm enough to hold a good shot, rolling medium fast, and rolled true to the breaks seen. Fairways are perfection and rough is long but manageable. I have nothing to complain about what so ever. Even a 6 pack of beer from the cart girl is on $12!!! Do yourself a favor and don't drive past this place on your way out to mesquite and beyond. Anytime I am near the greater Las Vegas area I will stop and play here!

Played here Sat 11/12/16 for the greens keeper event. All in all TPC Las Vegas is just what you would expect from a TPC course. Great layout, fantastic customer service, and very professionally run. Right from when you step out of the car you are treated like a Pro. As for the course, the views are fantastic. You can see the south end of the strip and amazing views of the mountains. The course plays along side hills ravines and some awesome little canyons. Everything on this course was in great shape except maybe the greens. Greens were extremely firm and fast. It was very challenging to line up a put but maybe thats why I'm not a pro. You really had to be spot on with your shots or you would roll off. Sand traps were fluffy and whit and gave you good opportunity to save the hole if you played a clean shot. All in all I really enjoyed the challenge and layout of the course, i just wish they would tone down the pro level greens for the average golfer, but that's personal preference.

Played Coyote Springs Friday November 11th with a few other from greenskeeper.org. We got into to town early for the GK Event so we decided to give it a shot because we have heard such good things. We teed off at 7am and it was absolutely stunning. I don't have a bad thing to say about this course. Teeboxes were spotless and level, and great to hit off of. Fairways were perfect and had great roll with almost no divot damage. Greens were receptive but fast and rolled extremely true. The only thing to complain about is that it ruins playing golf in southern California. Coming home to my local courses is almost depressing haha. I will play here any chance I get! Get out there and experience a phenomenal facility and terrific staff.

Played Riverwalk for this past sunday 11/6 with Gregholla, Mark, and Andy. We were greeted by a friendly staff and out on the tee box on time. Groups had good separation and we never had to wait all day. We started the day on the Presidio course followed by the Mission. I favorite nine was by far the Mission course. Great holes with lots of water hazards to adjust your approach to. Lots of the holes had good risk vs reward mentality, and really challenged you to think about placement and club choice. A lot of the courses I play you can grip it a rip it so this was nice to see.

As far a conditions go greens would have to be the highlight of the round. They were nice and firm and decently fast. All breaks were true to read but still very challenging to make longer puts. Pin placements really made you have to nail your approach shots as a bad placement could easily turn into a 3 putt.

Fairways were okay shape and were under significant repair. They are adding a ton of sod so there is a lot of patchwork. If you were in the fairway you generally had a good lie. The rough was inconsistent mix of kikuyu grass dirt and other grass. One thing i noticed is how many unfilled divots there were. All over the place there were big deep divots that people just left. This can be a problem in high target areas.

All in all I really enjoyed this course. Maybe in a few months as we get into the spring season the repairs with take shaped and provide another level of quality. Even so fun day with good company and good laughs.

Got to sneak out of work early yesterday 10/25 and play and afternoon round of golf. I figured I would play locally in hopes of finishing before dark. Teed off on Lagos at about 3:00pm and the starter was nice enough to give me the $16 super twilight rate plus $8 for a cart, $24 total. I teed off with no one in site and played solo and extremely fast the first two holes. I caught up to a mens group and pace of play slowed down dramatically. I would only finish 14 by the time it got too dark.

All in all course was in okay condition. Greens were very soft and very slow with the rain the day before. The greens look they had been punched aerated maybe a month ago, all healed up but very bumpy. Fairways were okay, some random bare spots and some standing water and mud. Tee boxes had very strange tee placement to avoid mud and dmaged areas. Sand was very wet and hard but common after so much water. Getting out of them was tough and took two shots sometimes. All in all not a bad round of golf given the downpours the day before.

This is my home course and I play here a lot. Compared to the condition end of summer after the city championships I would rate overall course condition 6/10. Give it a few more weeks and some more rain and I could be very good again.

Played Friday 9/30 at 6:56am with my dad. This was my first round here and I was very impressed. Great facility with some of the most comfortable carts I have ever drove. Pace of play was great at 4 hours. My dad has bad knee and the starter was kind enough to allow us to drive closer to the greens. First off the course was in great shape. Greens look to have been punched maybe a month ago and are just about healed up. Nothing really affected roll or line mostly just visual. Green speed was medium fast. The rough and fringe did have fairly new punch marks but didn't seem to be an issue. Tee boxes were level and plush. None had severe damage except the second par 3, which had a ton of divots. Besides that everything was green and lush. Fairways looked great and rolled really well. Rough was anywhere from 1 to 5 inches. If you missed wide there was some very tall rough that you had to really look hard to find you ball. Bunkers looked great with bright white sand on top but only about 1 inch or so deep and then hard wet clay under. You had to really make smart shots to recover from bunkers. All in all a great course and great staff. They had a charity shotgun tournament that afternoon and we felt no pressure to finish or rush. Can't wait to play here again!

I played here on Thursday 9/29. Course was very green and almost over watered in many areas. Lots of mud even at 11am when I teed off. They had sprinklers running almost the entire round throughout the course. Seemed like the back nine had the most greens with healing aeration marks, front nine was pretty much healed up. The greens did play slow and soft but it wasn't too bad. Most of the tee boxes were in good shape and fairways were great when not muddy. All in all a quick round at only 4 hours. Groups were spread out and playing a good pace. I really enjoy this course and always enjoy the challenges it provides. Only lost 2 balls which is a record for me there! At $35 this is a great buy even with the punched greens healing.

I played on 9/24 with Gregholla. Overall I was rather disappointed in the quality and conditions of the course. Greens were looked good but were extremely soft and slow. Fairways were inconsistent and had a lot of gravel. I have never really enjoyed playing this coarse but figured I would give it another shot. Seem to be just how I remembered it. I would pay more then $20 to play here. There are some challenging holes but the layouts seem forced and confusing. Pace of play was about 51/2 hours and seemed longer. I hope this helps.

8/20- Took my girlfriend's little brother for a Sat morning round for his 21st birthday. We lucked out have low 70 degrees at teeoff and only rising to mid 80s by finish time. First off they this place must be draining lake Mead single handedly! For late August the course was absolutely emerald! The driving range conditions were better then any course I have ever seen.

Now to the round, pace of play was fantastic as you start about ten minutes or more between groups. Tee boxes were lush and meticulously maintained. When I landed in the fairway, drives would roll for days. Most of my time was spent in the rough which was consistent but long. Greens were firm and fast even with all the water they received. We were paired with a local who provided great company, advice for play, and great "dad jokes."

All around a great place to play, can't wait to play here during the GK Event in November!

P.S. If you miss fairways like I do, bring a beater club to save strokes from the rocky fringes of the rough. If you miss it tends to be really rocky (club eaters) in the desert!
