Played Thursday, teeing off at 1:06pm, sent out as a single amid mass cancellations due to a bit of rain. POP was 3.5hrs, with a 3some two groups ahead moving well and chose to pace my play accordingly. Skies cleared up on the 9th hole, and things started drying/warming up nicely for a lovely late afternoon.

Greens were soft, receptive and rolled very smooth at medium speed. Tees were mostly lush and good. Fairways and green aprons had some water/wash-out damage, but mostly good. Rough was not too penal. Sand was of course damp and a bit heavy, but OK.

Glad I played, course is pretty good overall. No cart lady today, but excellent service in the 19th hole with Ryan, lots of TVs to watch the start of March Madness, and a few good happy hour deals which I had to wait for - they started at 5:00pm. An older gent started playing some mellow tunes on the patio at 6pm as I left, and they were set up for Thursdays pasta night.

Friendly greeting by Andrew in the pro shop. Played today as a walking 3some in early afternoon. A sunny, fairly windy day. POP overall was 4hrs40mins, with heavy backup on holes 3-8, with 2-4 groups waiting. Things picked up on the back nine, with minimal waits. Several 5somes and one 7some 3 holes in front of us!!!

Course is drying up nicely, getting some roll on drives and approach shots. Overall, nothing remarkable, but greens and bunkers were both pretty good. Fairways have damage areas and a bit of hap-hazard coverage right now, but this should improve through the spring. Blue and white tees were generally very lush and provided good footing.

No cart lady, and the 1/2-way shack was closed as we passed through - definitely could've used a water. Never saw a useful marshal all day. Oh, I did see one, but he took no action with the 7some in front... :(

Played TC today, joining a 3some, teeing off about 1:40pm w/POP 4hrs40mins. Paid $55 'public senior' rate via their website. CPO only on #12 (as usual) and the last 1/2 of #17 fairway. Otherwise, carts were free-range.

Course 'looked great from far' and lush on the drive in. However, conditions were slightly less desirable than expected - based on my conversation with a member of pro shop staff last week on the phone, who indicated that the greens on that day were 'fully healed' from their micro-punching 4 days earlier.

Since I know that pro shop staff never lie, are never disingenuous nor uninformed about course conditions, I can only conclude that more than 1/2 the greens have regressed in their healing / condition by their own will over the last week. Punch holes were still very visible and contributed to bumpiness on the greens today in many cases, including the first 5 greens. Greens were also soft, hairy at times, and otherwise typical afternoon poa bumpy w/foot traffic.

Tees were generally long and need a trim. Fairways were pretty good - provided good lies, but limited roll. Rough was 3-4" and very dense. Definitely a problem to get a clean, good hit and very penal. Saw grounds crew on a few holes cutting down longer parts of the rough to about 3".

Cart lady came by at least 3 times, saw the marshal a few times, both very friendly. I'd suggest giving the course about a week to further heal.

Played today as part of the GK Guru group. Really enjoyed playing with Vince, Jerry and Gary. A nice mix of golf games. Vince had a handful of birdies and a great day putting, so that was great to witness as well. The rest of us each got one, I believe. Some very good shots made, and what a good time!

Last off of the Gurus, I think our POP was just about 4hrs, maybe just a few mins more, but was a good pace overall.

Received word from Ross Fisher that the greens were very firm and not holding shots very well. That indeed was the case - they were very fast, but did putt very nicely/smooth. Best approach was to guess about a club less than the yardage. Did have at least 4 balls roll off the back after landing on the greens.

Tees, fairways and rough were probably the best overall I've seen this year. Got mud a few times on the ball, but fairways were really nice, firm, good lies, and no mushy areas whatsoever. Was in one greenside bunker, and sand was fluffy.

Might try to get back out before aeration in a few weeks time. Thanks to Johnny and Ross Fisher for setting up the great day for us!

Played Friday, 3/8 at 1:07pm, paired with two nice guys. Easy, friendly check-in at pro shop and with the starter. They had a large shot-gun tournament that was ending, so lots of activity and heavy play. POP was pretty good, with even a 15-minute back-up/delay at the turn, we finished just under 4.5hrs in warmer weather than we started (less windy).

My 2nd time playing since my last review, and the course has been getting progressively softer with the rains. Yesterday, the tees provided good footing, but the fairways and rough were extremely soft, where you would often 'sink' into the turf when taking your stance.

Course seemed to be at full saturation point in many spots, and drew casual water 4 times in the fairways and rough. Otherwise, course has handled the rains well and with a few days of sun in the forecast, should be in very good condition later next week, providing a small window of drier conditions before they aerate the greens on the 18/19th.

Bunker sand was generally OK, a few were muddy. Biggest issue were all of the un-raked footprints in EVERY one of them!

Greens - super lush, held shots well, and putted at medium to medium-fast pace. Thought they were in fantastic condition, especially considering all of they play they received on the day.

Went out as a walking twosome at 12:30pm today, waiting on a couple of pokey groups in carts throughout the round. POP in the end was acceptable, at just over 5mins over 4hrs. Friendly greeting at check-in by Andrew in the pro shop, who gives great lessons.

Maybe because I walked the round and/or some weekend rains, but my view is a bit different than Matt's review from his Friday visit. Course was very wet today, with casual water on at least 1/2 the fairways, cart damage and ropes deployed throughout trying to defend very wet parts of fairways.

Tees were fine, good footing, and greens were holding shots well at medium-pace, with some bumps/bruises to deal with. Probably the biggest issue/damage were on the green aprons - many were severely water damaged/uneven, with no grass growing, providing only a 50% hap-hazard coverage pattern and bumpy terrain if you choose to putt the ball, which I did a few times.

Greenside bunkers were damp, some with casual water and mud - as you'd expect.

Overall, course is holding up good enough. Was mowed/cut recently, so lies were very manageable, but muddy balls were the norm. Will need at least a good week of no rain for recovery. Wear your water-proof golf shoes if walking - my 3 year-old Footjoys held up well!

Played Monday, 2/25, teeing off about 12:20pm with 3 guys playing the blues, I played the white tees. POP was good @ 4hrs 15mins - we were not pushing the group in front, and the group behind us was 3/4 to 1 hole back.

Tees were lush and provided solid footing. Fairways provided very decent roll and good lies. Rough was a bit penal, about 2" in length. Only saw a few muddy areas - typically staked off - over the whole course. Two bunkers I was in were light sand over a firm base - not bad.

Greens were receptive and rolling medium-fast. Some indentations from foot traffic around the holes, but generally smooth and predictable.

Course overall is in very good shape after the rains and the fairways/green aprons should green up in the weeks ahead. A good value - $44 w/cart via their web site.

Played Tuesday, 2/19, teeing off about 12:20pm as a 4some. POP 4:45, waiting on the two groups in front at times.

Friendly staff, as always. We had some issue with two 3somes in front when they would 'join up' as a 6some at times (8th/9th holes, 11th hole). Marshall came by as we were approaching the green on 11, and though he said they shouldn't do that (he was very famiiar with them, telling me they play BG all the time), he wasn't too bothered by this news when I told him. Sensing we were going to be dealing with that the rest of the way, I took the liberty to suggest that it was his job to stop them from doing that, and keep POP up. :D Guess he took it to heart, as he did circle back and likely said something to them. Starting on the 14th hole, they stopped that nonsense.

Despite the recent rains, the course remains in pretty darn good condition, not much different from my visit at the end of Jan. Biggest differences were the teeboxes are washed out a bit, thinner and grayer, and bunkers were certainly damp.

Fairways were nicely cut, lush, and still provided decent roll. Slight water damage around the edges here and there, and a few extra parts of fairways were roped off, including all of #12 and #15, which tends to be CPO often. Rough wasn't onerous, but long in a few areas where I guess they hadn't cut in a few days.

Greens were lovely and rolled very smooth, at a medium-fast pace.

Cart girl came by often and added cheer on a lovely, sunny taco tuesday.

With the Yorba Linda City Championship coming up in March, I'd expect the course to continue to be in very good/great condition in the coming weeks.

Played the front 9 late on Saturday, 2/16 teeing off a few minutes late at 3:10pm and finished in 2.5 hours. CPO for the entire course, as the rains on Thursday, etc., has made it soft and muddy in spots. Tees, fairways and rough had not been cut in probably 3-4 days, I'm guessing.

Tees OK. Fairways were very playable, but not much roll. Our 3some lost 5 balls in 9 holes in the 3-6" rough. Had to be pretty much on top of it to see it. Bunkers were real nice, good medium-weight and soft sand. Greens certainly the best part - they were cut and other than spike bumps on some of the softer areas of the greens, they rolled nicely.

Course is very green and lovely. However, if you're thinking of playing in the coming days before a sustained dry spell lingers over the area, suggest calling to see when they have last cut the rough and fairways and if they are still CPO before committing $.

Played today, 2/7 via teeoff.com, $62.00 after discount. Went out at tee time of 12:24pm, but there was a bit of chaos with the starter ahead of it, with my name (pre-paid) not appearing on his booking sheet, and others being sent out different from their tee times. Ended up being paired with two very nice ladies from the next group, who hit the ball well. Very enjoyable round. We pushed the groups in front, and were luckily able to jump a slow group in front at the turn, and finish in 4:45hrs.

Course overall was in good winter condition, albeit a just a bit damp - CPO on entire course, but not muddy. Could've driven carts on fairways with no damage, imho.

Tees, fairways and rough were all decent. Not a lot of roll in the fairways. Bunkers were generally nice, about 1/2" fluff on top of firm sand.

Greens were lush and very receptive, and enjoyed(?) a lot of spin on full approach shots, much more than usual. They also putted smooth and very, very fast.

A lot of folks on the course with no urgency of play, and sadly, no marshal to keep people moving. Have thought about doing the $41 monthly membership for a few months (with reduced greens fees), but have now decided against that idea.

Played BG today (Wed), a day after playing/walking Costa Mesa - an event rarer than a 'super blood wolf moon' for me! Was motivated to play consecutive days with the forecast of rain for the next 5 days. Glad I did, as it was a lovely day out, paired with two fun gents who happen to own Michael's Sports Pub in Westminster. Will have to check it out! $50 non-resident rate via their web site.

Teed off a few minutes ahead of our 12:38 tee time. I skipped the last two holes at 5:00pm to attend to other things, so POP was pretty much a full 5 hours, with waits on most holes.

Course conditions were really, really good. Tees were firm, greenish/gray and mostly well covered. Fairways were super green/lush and produced very good lies. They were also pretty dry/firm, so did enjoy a little more roll than usual. Rough wasn't too bad, but definitely produced some slightly gnarly lies.

Five fairway and green-side bunkers were generally good, but did see some un-raked areas in a few.

Greens were great, very fast and smooth, but held shots very well. Excellent to putt on, Due to their fast speed, the 'Anaheim effect' was significant, including nearly all greens.

Look forward to visiting again soon.

Went out late today as a single under their super-twilight rate. Jumped around between the front/back nines for 9 holes and squeezed in 4 more on Los Lagos in under 2.5 hours under last light. Generally, light play, but did have some groups to deal with early.

Courses overall have fared pretty well through the January rains, and were dry in all spots. In speaking with a staff member a few days ago, they mentioned they held back carts a few days. Kudos to staff, as fairways showed no signs of cart tire damage as they've had over the last two years. Overall, they were pretty good, but have suffered some flood damage. Not too bad, however, with the exception of Mesa #14, which typically does get hammered with heavy rains. Closed to carts.

Tees had good coverage and were firm, and greens were nice. Traps were in good condition, and well-raked for the two i visited. Well-worth the late fee and late afternoon walk.
