Played Friday, 6/3, with a 8:20 tee time with my brother Paul (williebeamon14), mpisarski01, and Paul's buddy Sam. Played here a few times in the last couple of weeks, including Memorial Day Monday, so this is going to be a hybrid review.

Customer service is very good. There's a bag drop and if you skip it, they meet you as you walk up. Easy check-in. Drink cart was around a few times, but doesn't start until 8. The bar/snack bar wasn't open for the super early Memorial Day round, and snack bar was open at 8 when we made the turn, but was at 10 for the second round.

Course is probably in the best condition I've seen in awhile. After having issues at the end of last summer, it has bounced back really well. Tee boxes are mostly level, with only issues on some of the par 3s, but those have large boxes to move around. Fairways are lush and fully covered, with the exception of the short par 4 #11, where they made it Cart Path Only to help. Bunkers may be the only complaint, as some were hard packed, and a few had standing water, including the right fairway on #10 which was completely filled and appeared to be a new water hazard. The greens were in excellent shape. Pretty smooth and less ball mark damage than Monday's round.

I love playing this course. I can't think of two holes that are the same and a nice mix of long/short holes. There are many many bunkers though, maybe a few more than necessary for a residential course. While it's not a must play, it's not a bad option if you can get a decent rate in the current Vegas high price (no summer rates) climate.

Played on Friday, 5/27, with a tee time just before 8am. Paid $70 with the Arroyo/Siena card. This review may mirror mpisarski01's from last week but with a little added in.

Condition wise, course was excellent. Fairways were lush, fast, and firm. The rough was super thick and caused plenty of trouble. We actually found a few balls that apparently were missed in the earlier group. The newly renovated bunkers were still in great shape with plenty of sand. Greens were running slower than normal, about medium-ish speed.

Outside the conditions, everything else seemed a bit off from normal. The pro shop is almost empty of merchandise. The course now starts at the 7th hole, which is the closest to the clubhouse. Supposedly this was to speed up play, but our round was still the typical 4.5 hours I am accustomed to here. The change was to take out the long drive out to #1, which caused you to leave the clubhouse at least 5 minutes early to be on time. Unfortunately, the course routing has plenty of long drives between greens and the next tee, so I don't think it matters. Plus, you now start your round on a par 3 (and only signature hole) which seemed to cause a back up as we waited almost 10 minutes past our time to tee off. The carts are usually pretty good, but the GPS/entertainment system seem to reset after every shot and always tried to place you on the private Mountain course instead of your current hole.

Golf wise, I love Arroyo, but this time I was just happy to get done and leave. It may be a while before I venture out again.

Played on Monday, 5/23, with a couple of guys from Cocky & Lucky Golf and Social Club. Paid $60 prepaid local, which is an absolute steal. Our tee time was around 8:30, but we started around 7:45 and finished around 11:30, waiting on many holes, but nothing major.

Very minimum interaction with the staff, but they are very friendly. Food and beverage prices are outrageously low. 2 beers, Gatorade, Monster, and some snacks ran us $15. Good selection in the Mitch Grill afterwards and again, cheap, with meals under $10.

Coyote Springs has one of, if not the best, practice areas. Huge all grass greens with various angles and distances to targets. You can easily adjust your aim almost 60* to get different wind directions with your shots. Big bunker/chipping area for multiple golfers at the same time. Putting green has 9 holes set up on two levels to enjoy.

Conditions were pretty good and close to great. Flat tee boxes with some divots on the par 3s. Fairways were lush, but played firm, fast and dry. Rough was cut low, about 1-2 inches, just enough to maybe cause an issue. Bunkers were the only negative as they were a mixed bag, some fluffy, some thin, and as Matt said, I found one with the liner causing issues. Greens were pretty good, having been punched about a month ago. Smooth and medium fast.

Coyote Springs may be the most difficult course I've played. Off the tee you get ultra wide fairways, but the most diabolical green complexes. Deep bunkers surround triple tier, super undulating greens. The only places on the course where you'll have a flat stance is the tee box, everywhere else is above or below your feet, even on the green. Hard but so much fun. A must play.

Played on Sunday, 5/22, in the GK event and had a great time with mpisarski01 and ARB during the round, and hanging out with everyone in the Tiki Bar afterwards.

Excellent service as you pull up to the bag drop/valet (or self park 100 yards away and walk up). Carts were set up and ready to go. Carts have the upgraded plush seats, to the pin GPS with GolfLogix greens maps, and some loud bluetooth speakers.

Conditions were on the really good side. Mostly level tee boxes. Fairways were pretty lush, with just a few bare spots in run off areas. I saw some aeration holes in a couple of fairways. Bunkers were filled with super soft, beach like sand. Greens ran pretty smooth and a few showed the very small aeration holes but no sand filler. They were a nice medium/fast and a bit different than the practice green, which showed more recent aeration.

With the high demand for tee times in Vegas, Bali Hai is on the visitors side of the bracket (vs a local track). You do get the full Vegas experience though. We saw a few groups using the different caddy options available.

Played Friday, 4/1, with a 9:20 tee time, joining the Lucky & Cocky crew, and joined by a local single. Tee times in Vegas are getting difficult and this was the only one available less than a week out. Paid $125 county resident rate and they checked IDs at check in.

Rio Secco is the perfect example of Vegas resort golf. Excellent customer service starts at the bag drop, and you'll find your bag on a cart right outside the pro shop after checking in. Large clubhouse with full restaurant and locker room area. Large grass driving range, 2 putting greens, and a chipping area, which is next to the 1st tee, along with a snack bar that you also pass on the way to 10th tee.

Conditions were perfect. Lush fairways with no bare areas. The dormant Bermuda is starting to "wake up" and the rough is turning from tan to green. Fairway bunkers were nice and firm while the green side bunker had medium/heavy sand which was easy to hit from. The greens were immaculate, smooth, almost zero ball marks, but a bit slower than they looked (pro shop had them at 11).

I love Rio Secco and worth it once a year. Incredible Vegas views, especially on the front 9 and a nice variety of holes, especially the par 3s (all playing different lengths, with different looks off the tee). Still not sold on the flip of the 9s, I love many of the holes on the front and only the par 3s on the back are rememberable. The difference is the last 2 holes on both: the front with back to back flat par 5s and the back with a risk/reward par 5 to a "desert island" green and a longish par 4. Also 18 is next to cart return and there's no crisscrossing the property now. Definitely a must for a true "Vegas" golf trip.

Played Friday, 3/18, with the Cocky and Lucky Golf & Social Club. The Robert Trent Jones Jr designed course has 3 9 hole courses and we played Lakes/Sunrise (Canyon is the other). Lakes lives up to it's name with water on 6 of 9 holes, and Sunrise is routed along the east side of the complex. The Spanish Trail community and course was the first big expansion in Vegas in the mid 80s, but the course doesn't feel 40 years old. Pace was a bit slower than my last time here, finishing in about 4.5 hours, with a single joining us on the back 9, on a very busy March Madness Vegas weekend.

The course is starting to bloom with the Spring weather. The dormant Bermuda rough is starting to wake up and and there's spots of green popping up. Bunkers are decent with some medium/heavy sand, but 1 green side was pretty thin (at least where I was hitting from). Fairways were lush, with plenty of roll but some cushion underneath. Greens were on the slower side of medium, but smooth and consistent through both 9s.

This may be a course through a residential neighborhood, but it is a tough test. The white tees (6400-6500 yards depending on the 9s) average 135 slope and the course can tip out at 7100 yds, 74.4/144. The course was recently bought by the owner of Southern Highlands so interested to see if there is any major changes. Initiation fees have already gone up in the last month. The course is currently strictly private and I expect it will stay that way, but if you can get on, it's absolutely worth it.

Played in the GK Plays on Sunday, 3/20, and teed it up with John_T, MPisarski and itslikeimsayin. It was a great group and we have all known each other for years thanks to GK. John and I made the trek from Vegas, 3.5 hours each way, and definitely worth an one day golf trip.

This is the 4th time I've played here, and 1st in 3 years, and the course has never disappointed me. Conditions were outstanding. Lush fairways with no bare spots. Smooth greens that were running at a medium pace. Rough was up enough to make you think about the shot, about 2 inches. Bunkers appeared to have new all white sand that just glowed. Sand was consistent in both fairway and green side, like fine but heavy beach sand. Nice in the green side, not so fun in the fairway bunkers.

Course has a large driving range, chipping area, putting green, and a small putting green next to the 1st tee. The clubhouse and no-frills bar/grill does not match the course, but the food they do have is excellent along with the prices. I love sitting on the patio, watching players finish 18, and it's protected from the prevailing wind. Highly recommend this course if anywhere in a few hours drive.

Played Friday, 3/11, with a 12:06 tee time. Arroyo is at the top of the westside of the valley, and more likely to have frost delays than other courses, so no surprise there was one. Also, throw in March basketball madness in Vegas (this week: WCC, WAC, Big West, Mountain West, and PAC12 all with their conference tourneys in Vegas) expect a slower than normal round at most courses.

Thanks to our fast early morning round, we arrived almost 2 hours early to find out about the delay. We were able to enjoy the bar/grill for breakfast and lunch before we headed out, right on time. Only caveat was we need to return after the 6th hole to switch carts (weird but it worked out). The pace here is always a bit slower, with 4:30 pace the norm, and today was no different. Even starting on time, we finished at about 4:45, just trudging along. I did see the 2 groups behind us paired up as an 8 and never saw them after we finished 9. The 2 groups in front of us was a 7some of buddies who somehow passed a 2some of vacationeers with rental clubs.

On to the course. It was in great shape. Tee boxes are dormant and painted, but they are fading and still in decent shape. Fairways are lush, soft, and really green. Rough is about 2-3 inches in most areas. The ball settles down and make it difficult to advance. Greens were firm and on the fast side. The biggest thing is the bunker renovation they have gone through this winter. They are through at least 16, putting in new, super soft sand, and reducing the size, or outright removing, a ton of bunkers. The green side areas have completely changed from a year ago.

I really do like Arroyo. Full grass range and what looked like an increased putting green by the clubhouse. My complaint has also been the bunkers but with the renovations that is gone. It's a fun course to play, with some risk/reward short holes, and a couple of go-for-it par 5s mixed in. An eclectic mix of par 3s, from 120ish to 200+. Worth a look if in Vegas.

Played on Friday 3/11, with John_T and his dad with a 6:30 tee time. With the week of cold and windy weather in Vegas this week, I was expecting both some cancellations and a frost delay. After checking in, found there was a few cancellations but no frost delay, so sent out about 15 minutes early, and finished in just a shade over 3 hours.

Conditions are fantastic right now. Fairways were running firm and fast, but plenty of grass. Bunkers still holding the new sand from recent replacement. Greens were super firm (so huge bounces on shots) and as fast as I ever saw them. On the 3rd hole, I putted from below the hole, missed the cup, and rolled about 2 feet past, then the ball rolled back about 6 feet below the hole and back to me. If there were ball marks, they were from days before, because trying to fix them it sounded like breaking ice, just frozen. The rough has been cut down to barely over fairway for the last month or so, which causes issues. If you have a desert course, playing firm and fast and no rough, lots of balls will run into the desert areas. I am not a fan of this idea.

With the ultra friendly staff, this feels more like a muni than the resort course it is. Not a bad choice if in Vegas. Mountain is more a test than Palm, but both are fun courses.

Played in the GK Plays on 2/20 with MPisarski, CircaFlex and JoeFoot, and some funs times entailed.

I've come to the conclusion LR is a sneaky under-rated course and should be definitely in the must play conversation for Vegas area courses. LR is 90 minutes or so from Vegas, the same as Wolf Creek. The entire course and "experience" (bar/grill, range, hang out) reminds me of Wickenburg Ranch. Great customer service, great food, great drinks, and great views.

I've played LR a handful of times in all seasons and the course has been in great conditions all year. I do like the faster greens in the fall-winter compared to the slower summer greens. Fairways were lush. The dormant Bermuda rough popped against the dark green fairways and greens.

Overall, worth the trip from Vegas even at 90 minutes of plain desert each way, or do as we did, and make it a Laughlin weekend.

Played the GK Plays event 2/19 with KViser, Steve, and Dan. Good times.

I've played here in summer and winter a few times, and I absolutely enjoy the December and February rounds here. I love the two tone green fairways and dormant Bermuda rough look. I think the course is a bit more "playable" without the higher rough.

Casual vibe, drink cart was around a few times on each 9, and the bar/grill had a great beer selection. Also, secretly great bloody mary made with real horseradish. So good.

Really nice tee boxes with no real divot issues. Nice fairways with full grass coverage and no thin lies. Dormant Bermuda rough. Nice bunkers with some thick, heavy sand. Greens were spectacular, sneaky fast and smooth.

Like I said, I love Mojave Resort in the fall to spring time, normally gorgeous weather, and great conditions. Definitely a must play in the area.

Played on Friday, 2/18, 8:25a tee time, $59 with the OB card. A nice warm up to the GK Bullhead Blowout and an awesome time with GK/Cocky&Lucky Golf and Social Club with MPisarski, Joe, and Yohanne. We were followed for some holes by Jed, the AP Social Media guy who put together an awesome reel on the angelparkgolf IG page.

Now onto the course: I would love to see them redo the tee boxes during a reseed but they are decent, some need some leveling. Fairways are lush, complete coverage, and plenty of cushion. Rough was minimum, just enough to give fairway definition, but not long enough to stop some balls from running into the desert surroundings. Bunkers were a Vegas mix: some nice decent sand and some pebbly, rocky sand. Greens were fantastic, as fast as I've ever seen, causing some super breaks, and mix with some tricky pins made for an interesting putting day.

Funny story: I picked AP Palm as an "easy" warm up into the weekend, plenty of birdie chances, a fun course to take some chances and a few "go-for-it" holes, but if you are off with the swing, this course makes you pay. My choice as a fun, chase the ball course, always good service, incredible Friday prices, and great food.
