Played 4/7. Early tee time. slow at first but then sped up. place was really busy. i gotta say, for the money, it's a steal. the fairways are extremely lush! amazingly lush! greens were long and very slow. hardly any break. and severely overwatered. great value. we played both courses and they only charged us $10 for the 2nd round! I know it's cow town and nothing fancy, but it ain't all that bad. Again, most lush fairways I've seen all spring!!!! Bunkers were a joke. hard pan. i putted out of two of them.

greens are in great shape. quick. rest of course is just average. as stated before, fairways are a mish mash of grass with lots of bare areas. no consistency to sand. rough is manageable. great french fries!

Great casual vibe. Great customer service. I walk on here two Fridays a month and always get right on as a single. Greens were cut short with lots of poanna, but they rolled true, albeit slow. It's a bargain for $33 on a friday in southern oc.

Greens are great. Rest of course below average. The big bummer about the fairways right now...lots of clumps of growing all over. So, you'll hit one right down the middle, then find your ball lodged behind a clump of grass. Sure, one could move it a few inches away, but that's not the game. Seems like there's about six different types of grass in the fairways. And, many spots resodded, but they just plopped down any type of grass instead of going for some consistency. Hopefully it'll improve in the spring.

Played Friday 1/9/09. Wind was HOWLING. Made conditions unbearable. I wouldn't agree with previous post about conditions at the course. We play here a lot (good value; ez to get tee times). And I've seen it in much better shape. Many greens had a "ring" of bare area around the edges. Anything close to the edge of the green rolled into these unsodded areas on the edge. Greens were okay. Sand was hard. But, hey, for $22 to walk, it's a steal.

We were 2nd group out on 12/23. Cold and wet. Conditions are good for this time of year. Greens were immaculate. Rest of course is in just average shape. It's a great walk. Worth the trip. Fairways are thin and not much rough to speak of.

If Broomy played on Tuesday, 12/30 the delay was due to a men's club tourney. they're always slow. conditions are not up to the norm of sjh. fairways are in horrible shape. odd since they overseed. i imagine it's due to the cold nights we've had. lots of dead and very bare, muddy spots. half of the greens were beat up, too. it's a great local track, but not in that great of shape right now. i'd agree tijeras is still in better shape and with a creek card, a better deal. staff here was fabulous, as always. they remember your name and preferences. men's club is top notch. just avoid the course last wednesday of each month cuz that's when the tourneys are.

Overall course is in average condition. I don't think they overseed here so lots of "dead" spots in fairways. Lots of GUR. Greens were in pretty good shape. #1 had some bare spots and was much slower than the others. It's a good walk.

"played" 12/9. I use " cuz wind was blowing about 50mph! there were maybe three cars in parking lot. we only played nine holes as we couldn't even keep our balance and our golf balls wouldn't even stay on their marks on the greens. impossible weather conditions. i was really bummed as this is my favorite track and i drove 50 miles to play there. course was immaculate! perfect conditioning. too bad weather didn't coorperate.

My "home" course. Belong to Men's Club. Customer service, as always, was top notch. Played Monday, Dec. 8th. Greens are immaculate! Rough took overseeding very well. Nice and lush. When they let it grow it gets tough here. Something about the fairways. They have a lot of bare spots. #8 comes to mind (it's always been a problem). Also #10. Just lots of hardpan areas. It's not horrible, just not up to par with greens. Sand in bunkers...I give up. It's never consistent nor good. they can just never get it right. Also, their players club card still doesn't rank with Tijeras Creeks. they gotta extend the benefit to everyone in the group, not just the holder of the card. How embarrassing is it to join your friends for golf and you get to pay the twilight rate an hour before twilight but they don't? I'd make that person buy many beers after the round! SJH is a great place to play.

Played Friday the 19th. We love the course and conditions were fine for the time of year. they've already started some overseeding. #6 fairway was off limits and soggy. Some tee boxes were overseeded and soppy as well. But, hey, it's that time of year. We knew this going in but wanted to get a round in here before they really tear it up. We'll be happy to go back in November when everything has recovered.

I play here a lot, but first time since June. They've made lots of improvements. Resodded blue tee box on #6. Lowered the bunker on #10. Whole new practice putting complex and huge outdoor patio. It's a great place with a nice locals vibe. Greens are in very good shape for this time of year. Fairways had some bare spots but that's to be expected. Great course to walk, but not for the weary. Lots of hills. Very enjoyable. Ray in the pro shop got me right out as a single walk on. I'd played with the superintendent here about a year ago; our paths crossed yesterday and he took the time to chat with me about the course and even remembered my name and game. Keep up the good work.
