Played Sunday 4/7 with an early tee time. It was a litte cold but warmed up some as we progressed through the round. First thing to note from what the course advised they are punching the greens 4/8 and 4/9.

Check in was easy and the starter got us out on time. Course was in nice shape except for a few tee boxes which where a little beat up. Fairways had good coverage, greens were nice and firm. I have seen them faster but were still a test if you were in the wrong spot. Sand was good, able to get up/down several times. The rough was nasty on some of the holes. It was the price you pay for not hitting the fairway.

I enjoy playing here but it has several challengeing holes. We played the blues and the Par 3's ranged from 175 yards to 215 yards. And they all require solid tee shots. The only modification is on hole 15 a normal Par 5. Due to the wet fairways and rain run off from the hill this hole was pushed to a temp Par 3. We completed the round in less than 4.5 hours.

I did not use the range but it was packed. There was a college tournament going on. The 19th hole was nice, reasonable prices. Will definately return after the greens have healed.

Played Sun. 4/7 @ 8:10 middle group of two-somes and POP was great as usual 4hrs flat.
Cool start then perfect sunny conditions with slight breeze+.
Overall the course is in as good conditon as I can recall. Overheard the guys behind us on the 4th as we tee'd off on 5 (back to back par 5's) confirmed they said it was nice too.
The staff has put in the effort the past couple seasons to "bring it back to what is once was". And it is showing.
Fairways mowed with stripes visible and the differentiation from fairway to rough defined now. Thicker rough in spots and the clover and weeds are much less than previous years. Bunkers have soft sand in most having been done as I've mentioned last year.
Greens are good/great very few ball marks. I rated 8/10 for this venue. Rolling a bit slow. With that pace dialed in rolling real nice.
Tee boxes a few not level (white tees) are looking like they are getting ready to re-do 11 & 14 the two that need it. Others ok.
$47 to walk (easy to) I think is a great weekend value. Easy to recommend at this price point.
VIVID golf towels, gloves and tees are being sold in the Pro-shop now. First course I have seen selling VIVID products.

Played Griffith Harding on Sat 4/6, 8*30 tee time. No wind, cool early but a beautiful day for Golf! With respect to the recent tee time uproar, I got my tee time as always by being on the computer at 5*59am 9 days before. I don't know if the "Bot Brokers" got scared off or I got lucky... They did ask for my ID at check in.
Tee Boxes; good coverage, large enough to find a flat spot, many could use some leveling.
Fairways; Really, really good!. Maybe as good as I ever recall here. Thank you rain.
Rough, also great shape, many areas have a 5+ yard 2nd cut. The real rough could be few inches or 4-5" with clover.
Greens med-Fast, very nice condition. Bummer aeration in a couple weeks.
Collars & surrounding areas also good shape.
POP; 4:45. Seems like a long day, but it wasn't awful at all. My 1st time out in 10 months after a shoulder injury, so maybe it was gonna be good no matter the POP!
The Restaurant is back open, a big plus. Good food, not cheap, but not crazy either. They did a nice job on the remodel with a big bar & better tables/chairs. No bev cart on course. Pass a snack shack in the middle of the course a couple times.
I recommend. Look out for aeration!
PS weekend early rates (before 9am) are $69 with cart. And the old route up the hill from the Forest Lawn exit of the 134 is closed. Have to drive in by the Zoo.

I played here yesterday and a couple weeks ago. Course is in almost identical condition as my last review. About the only thing I’d say was different was that the greens rolled a bit slower (medium) pace and the traps weren’t in as good of shape. Still a fun and challenging course that can reward you with some good birdie chances as well as put up a triple on the scorecard.

Being a weekend, yesterday’s round was about 4.5 hours which is still better than the mid week 5+ hour round at nearby Callippe Preserve.

As of 4/6/24; this course was not able to aerate their greens and will delay it until the fall of 2024. Their greens are in pretty good shape and fast. a few spots are bare but not enough to ruin your roll to the cup. plenty of trees have been eliminated from this course from the last two years storms. wind is always a factor here.

Played twilight today in very windy conditions.

Tee boxes immaculate with almost no divots because they are prepping them daily to have them looking sharp for the shootout next week. Same for the fairways. Firm, cut down and lush which produces some ridiculously long drives.

Sand very well maintained. Rough just long enough to be penal but not overly penal. Large green roll well and are firm. You have to play for release even on high, soft shots. They have many of the areas around the greens cut lower than usual. Nice for playing bump and run shots up/over mounds around greens. However, the flipside of that is approach shots barely missing greens won't stop right beside the green and will roll to a collection area.

Really nice, lush range that has 2 practice chipping greens. Snack shop at the turn, above average golf course Restaurant @ the Lodge.

Customer Service always very good. Well stocked pro shop. Carts have very good GPS systems. Highly recommended.

Played twilight twice this week. Temps in the mid 70's and breezy have dried the course out after all the recent rain.

They always try and get the courses looking and playing their best around "Shootout" time, the Member-Guest tournament which is next week. With the wet winter, the course is definitely lusher than it was last year at this time.

Tees boxes and fairways are immaculate. Fairways cut down and firm, they play like the fairways @ the Masters on TV. Drives rolling, and rolling and rolling. Sand well maintained. Lare greens firm, smooth and medium fast. Rough not overly penal, you can almost always et decent club on the ball.

Snack stand at the turn, full service restaurant inside the Lodge. Driving range very lusg and well maintained. Customer service always top notch here. Highly recommended.

Played 2 April--Carts only--layout not conducive to walking. Greens have recovered nicely from recent aeration. Don't let the relatively short course length fool you--the layout is challenging and forces planned shots. Be sure to ask the Starter for a crib sheet if you haven't played here before. Bunkers are typical SoCal hard pan (bad, in serious need of sand) but the challenging layout, awesome views and friendly staff make the trip to Ramona worth the effort. Restaurant and Pro shop are a plus--they have what you need at reasonable prices. Enjoy!

Played on Monday. The course's greens were aerated just a week ago and are still very sandy and bumpy. I would wait at least three weeks to play here as there are no special pricings for the greens conditions. So if you don't mind where your putts go, then you're okay. The rest of the course is in very good condition.

Walked the blues yesterday 4/2/24 joined by 3 nice singles. We had an interesting wind to say the least. Drive on 12 over the green and drive on 14 had 68 yds in taking a crazy line just right of the green to give you a couple examples downwind. Drives into the wind on hole 11 and 13 maybe got 220 yds and went nowhere...lol. Total pop just over 4 hrs. We moved well towards the group ahead of us and never saw the group behind us. Beautiful but windy day for golf. Back nine start teeing off late morning. Interesting playing 14,16,18, 1,2,3 all downwind. I think it makes the back nine a touch more manageable.

The conditions continue to excel at Rustic. Probably the nicest I have seen the tees[8.5/10], greenside rough[9/10]and fairways[8.5/10]. The greens[8.5/10] were in great shape,, super smooth around a 10.5 on the stimp with no ballmarks evident. Was in Fairway bunker on 10 that was hard packed and really nice to hit a wedge out of.

Very friendly staff, still a great price especially walking during the week, great layout and superb conditions right now.

I can't recommend this course more than now for conditions. Go play.

Played Muni on 4/3. Conditions continue to be very good here. Fairways are fantastic. Rough has filled in nicely with the rains.

The teeth of this course are the greens, and they are tough. Getting firmer, and fast. Lots of divot marks, but most of the players here do tend to fix the marks, so the greens do roll well.

Aeration is still 6 weeks away, so I expect the greens to get firmer and faster until then.

Paid full price $99 for punched and sanded greens! No discounts for unplayable greens I booked with a large group otherwise I would have left. Totally unacceptable!!
