Was able to grab a noon tee time on Jan 2nd, via teeoff.com @ $27 pre-paid fee. Ended up going out at as a single a few minutes early, with the starter letting me go ahead of a 4some, with their permission. 52 degrees at the start, on a lovely sunny day, with minimal wind. One of the best places to play imho on a sunny day, even though it was chilly. Only warmed up a few degrees, but the sun kept me warm enough! POP ended up at 3.5 hours with minimal waiting and playing through 3 other groups. Nice way to start 2019!

Course conditions were very similar to when I played here a few months ago in September.

Tees were pretty good, just a few were a little damp from the rains a few weeks earlier. Fairways were cut short, decent roll, some soft spots, but very lush and green. Rough was about 1.5-2", dense and a little penal - made sure to accelerate through impact.

Greens were firm but held good shots decently. Again, greens were nearly perfect looking, and rolled very true and medium-fast and slippery on the slopes/undulations. Not many ball marks at all to deal with, which was great.

In 2 bunkers, and they were well groomed, soft but damp sand.

Had a smile on my face all day. Just love playing here. Highly recommended.

Played Boxing Day, 12/26, teeing off as a twosome at 10:22, on a cold, sunny day to start - 46 degrees, warming up to upper-50's by early afternoon. Very light amount of play POP was 4 hrs, with no waiting on the two twosomes in front, and we let a single go through.

Course is soaking wet right now from a healthy amount of rain, with a little standing water on a number of holes, and plenty of 'casual water' coming up, but everything is indeed lush and green, fairways and rough last cut maybe 4-5 days earlier. CPO entire course, and very necessary. Greens today were fantastic, cut nicely, rolling medium speed with very few bumps. A few elevated tees were really nice and firm. Well-drained, no standing water.

Nice, friendly gentleman in the pro shop told us to wait to pay at the turn, to see if we really wanted to play a full 18, or just 9 due to course conditions, as the back 9 was a little soggier than the front. When has anyone ever heard that offer? Me - never... very impressed! Was only going to be $3 difference pp, and the sun was out nicely, so we happily waded onwards for a leisurely 18.

Certainly not a day for scoring, as the ball died whenever it hit the ground, and getting it airborne and/or hitting clean shots was a challenge all day. That said, very happy to have played here again. Last played Bennett Valley probably 3 years ago. Holes are pretty straight, but lined with a lot of Redwood trees, so its a very pleasant day out. Glad I wore my water-proof Footjoys, which passed the test - but did get very muddy!

Assuming no further rain (slim chance of that), course would probably be much more playable (drier) in 2 weeks.

Played last week on Monday, 11/26. Teed off at noon and POP was exactly 4 hours, with a bit of waiting on most holes - a 4some 3 groups ahead were about 1 hole behind, and of course, the marshal said nothing. But, we were 'on pace'... Check-in was smooth.

Lovely day, fairways and tees were freshly cut, which always makes things nicer. Greens were lush and really nice. Fully recovered from their punching. Not too bumpy, and rolled mostly smooth at medium-pace.

Pleasantly surprised with the sand quality on the day - was in 4. It was fluffier than usual, and only took 1 swing to get out of each :) Still, saw too many un-raked footprints from prior golfers on the day #@%$!.

Cart lady came by twice.

Played Monday, 11/5, teeing off a few minutes after noon w/Larryq2001 and was paired with friendly GKer Dubwiser. We finished a bit over 4 hours, with a few short waits on a lovely day. They played the blues and I teed off from the white tees.

White tees were level and in pretty good shape for this time of year. As previously mentioned, a few tee areas are closed and in process of growing new grass. Fairways were overly watered in spots - where I landed my shots, of course - and often got no/little roll-out, which made the course that much more demanding and adding yards to 2nd shots. Was able to draw casual water in my stance 3 times, including once on a strong slope! The course was green enough - it's November - stop with the over-watering!!!

While I was fortunate to avoid any bunkers, was in the rough too many times, and found it diabolical and grabby.

Greens looked fantastic, dark green, held shots fairly well and provided mostly smooth putting. Excepting a few pin placements located directly on slopes, they putted medium-slow, however, and found it a challenge to get long putts anywhere near the holes.

Cart lady came by a few times and saw a friendly marshal twice. Defo recommend playing here, just wish they would let the course dry out a little bit!

Grabbed a deal on teeoff.com, which after applying the their promo discount, netted out at $61.60pp, including very comfy cart w/great GPS. Course is in pretty good condition overall, with just a few minor quibbles.

Played Thursday, very friendly greeting by the starter, and he got us out a few minutes ahead of our noon tee time - played w/Larryq2001 on a lovely, sunny day to start. Made the turn in 2 hrs, and finished right about 4hrs overall POP, despite a mild waits on most holes on the group in front.

Agree with the point dethman made that the tees could use a fresh cut, as the grass was long. Fairways were pretty green, rolled well and generally provided good lies. Found the rough way too many times, and paid the price. Ball would generally sit down in it, and was very grabby, resulting in a number of 'heavy' shots.

Found at least two greenside bunkers (#3, #10 come to mind), and the sand was nice to hit from. Any time I get it out and on the green in 1 shot, the sand is great. Decent white fluff, about 3/4" depth over a medium base.

Most greens are elevated a bit from the fairways, and were lush, very green and soft. Held shots well. Too much watering going on here, however. A few holes were very damp/soft around the hole, and with everyone's golf soles leaving imprint patterns to deal with, a few 4' putts were impossible to keep on line. Mostly putted at medium-speed, but a few downhill putts would easily slip 4' past. Noted that two holes - #9 and #12 had pin placements only 8' from the back fringes. With generally large greens, seemed pretty extreme.

First time back here in 3 years, and very glad to have played. Had played the course a lot in the early 1990's after opening. Course is a good challenge, not a lot of trickeration - you just need to execute the shots. They are offering a monthly membership now - $42/month (including transaction fee) that provides discounted greens fees, and will consider joining in the spring for 2-3 months, with a plan to play 2x/week for that period, then play elsewhere. Was told by staff that they will do their heavy course maintenance in February - nothing planned this fall.

Played today, teeing off at 12:44pm on a lovely day, with about 1-2 club wind from the west. POP was slow, about 10 mins shy of 5hrs.

Since my last visit 12 days ago, the tees are filling in with new thin grass from the scalping. Wet enough on some tees to draw water up, so pretty soft footing at times. Likely need 2 more weeks to be good.

Rest of the course was fantastic, fairways were cut nicely, lush and green, and provided good roll. Greens were a bit firmer today, smoother and faster than 2 weeks ago, and held shots well. Noticed that a few have fungus problems directly on their slopes for whatever reason.

Not in any bunkers and only in the rough a few times, which wasn't very penal today - got some decent lies, could've been just lucky for once.

Only saw the cart girl once, while we were waiting on the 15th tee. She never did make it to us, however, as she came up to #14 from the 13th hole, then turned around back to #13! Guess this is what they mean by 'limited cart service' on the back nine. Friendly greeting by the bag valet up front, pro shop and starter. Love the course, starting to look and play very nice again.

Found a great $60+fee deal on GolfNow, with a 1:52 tee time on Sat., 10/27. Free range balls at your leisure. Teed off 15 minutes late, behind a group of 4 juniors (8-12 yrs) with their parents driving/coaching. Dreadfully slow for two holes, they then picked up the pace after some encouragement no doubt from the marshals. The youngsters were pretty good, just too much coaching! Wasn't expecting we'd get all 18 in, but we did, just under last light, with POP at 4hrs 10mins.

Cart-path only on the entire course, as they are still keeping the course fairly damp post punching and over-seeding. Course was closed for a month, and was evidently just opened a week ago.

Tees were very green, lush and level, but a bit soft. Fairways were lush, green and few divots to contend with. Good lies throughout. Rough was long and a nightmare - a mix of large areas of kikuyu and something else. Penal and tough to hit from, but even harder to find balls, unless you were within 5-10 feet, as they would sit down. The three guys I played with were 300-yard bombers, and probably lost over 15 balls total, with most of them just being lost in the rough somewhere!

Sand quality was great, but players ahead seemed to think a sand-butler would come by and rake their tracks, as at least 10 bunkers were unraked. Pretty sad, really.

Greens were pretty good, but not fantastic. Several were lightly sanded, but all showed no signs of the punching. Receptive and held shots well. Rolled smooth and medium-fast. Way too many freshly unrepaired ball marks, however.

The 3 guys I played with all were riding the Phat Cycles. They loved them and looked like a lot of fun. Too bad it was CPO. Only downside of those things is that there is no GPS on them, which for first-timers on the course, you don't get to see water hazards, etc.

Great, friendly service all around. From free valet-parking to start, check-in and final club-drop off. Nice bar/lounge with super-huge TV to watch the Dodgers blow a 'sure-fire' win in game 4 in the World Series. ;-)

Booked a pre-paid tee time via GolfNow for $30 +fee at 12:44pm. We were a group of singles, all booked through the same GN deal. The friendly guy in the pro shop let us each have our own zippy new cart, which was cool. They were very comfy, but no GPS system. We weren't waiting on anyone, and by the time we finished just under 4 hours later, the group behind us was over a hole back.

My first time here, and sadly was fairly disappointed with the poor quality of the greens. Inconsistent growth/burnt areas were very visible on every one, and putting was very bumpy throughout the day. Not what I was expecting.

Also, looks like they were verticut a week or so ago, and the 'healing' is not clean and did also affect putts, but that a minor contributor to the overall bumpiness. They may as well just punch the d%mn things now instead of waiting 10 more days...

Bunkers were visually the very best part of the course, and it wasn't even close. I rated them an 8. Was in one, and the sand was indeed very nice to hit from. Darker sand, but a shallow layer of fluff over a medium-firm base and very well cared for.

Tees were mostly level, but were well-worn, and fairways were mostly fair with OK coverage, with 50% chance of a good lie. Rough was long and grabby around some greens and could be deadly to hit from.

Decent layout overall, some quirks, but the course does provide a number of good, challenging holes. Sad the greens were not in better condition. As I don't live in the area, would not expect to make a return visit any time soon. If I lived in the community, would probably try to play a few times a year just to mix things up. Nice bar/restaurant and patio area for after the round.

Teed off at about 1:10pm with 3 other guys. Very slow POP on the day, just over 5 hours, finishing just before a nice sunset.

My last round here was just before the punching. Course overall is again in very good condition, with the greens pretty much healed from their punching in early September, showing only minor signs in the grass patterns. Greens were very consistent, lush, and a bit soft. They held shots well, putted mostly smooth at medium-speed. Practice green was smoother and faster than the greens out on the course.

Most, but not quite all holes, had all sets of tees recently scalped and I assume re-seeded. There was no issue with footing, as they were not taken down to bare sand, but were brown, with mostly dormant grass. Firm footing here.

Fairways were very lush and green, not cut as short as I'd like but provided decent roll. No major wet spots in front/aprons of the greens. Usually good lies, but the bermuda was somewhat grabby due to its length. Rough was choppy in all places, and as will happen here, the ball may end up falling down into the deeper rough, making for challenging shots.

Was only in one bunker, sand was medium-fluff and slightly damp - odd for so late in the day. Fresh un-raked footprints near my ball, but was spared the extra insult.

Saw the cart girl on #6, but not again. No marshals. Might explain the slow overall play. The Players lounge is open again, and there was a private party on the patio with the fires going after the round. I look forward to playing here again soon, likely next week. Recommended.

Played at 1:22 today, joining another single and a couple. After a 2.5 hr front held behind a pokey 4some, they let us through on the 10th tee. With never finding the next group in front, we then played the back in 1hr 50mins on a cloudy day, but with no rain. Wind was mild.

Course is a few weeks away from a greens punching. They are pretty decent, holding shots well, fairly smooth and putting medium-fast.

Tees, fairways and rough all in good condition as is typical for the course. Sand traps were a mixed bag, with some good, soft sand and others a bit thin and firm.

A good day out, and will try another round here before they punch in a few weeks.

Played today, Sat. 9/29 at about 11:30am. Paired up with three others on a light play day, with no one in front of us, and POP was 3hrs50mins. Friendly greeting in the pro shop, first time here, so the gent gave me a yardage book. Carts are older, but in good shape, but did not have GPS.

After seeing Johnny's previous review from last year, had hoped for better conditions than I came across today on this Ted Robinson, Jr-designed course. Looked a bit tired and uncared-for in a number of spots.

First two greens had burned out areas right in the middle of them. Others had some bumpy spots. For the most part, however, they were the feature on the day, providing a good challenge, being firm and very fast in spots w/extreme slopes that will take your ball off the green, even on what you might think is a good shot. A very good challenge.

I think the course has endured some hot weather, but it is hanging in there. Some burnt out areas, mostly in the rough. Fairways were pretty inconsistent, but did provide decent roll-out and were wide enough. A few holes had narrow openings from the teeboxes due to trees near the tees framing the shot. Tees were mostly level at the white markers.

Bunkers were a bit wet from the day's mist and light drizzle (the course needs it), and did encounter a few, with the sand being dark grey, heavy sand. Found four traps, ended up in 1 footprint.

I think the course is OK, but nothing to write home about. Very good value at $28 on the weekend, including cart, so would not hesitate to return at that rate. Would be better if the rough was longer/more penal and the traps had better sand. About on par with Bennett Valley, imho. Would rather play Windsor GC, Rooster Run, Eagle Vines and Chardonnay, and of course The Links at Bodega Harbour in the Santa Rosa area, but the price is tough to beat!

Was able to grab a deal plus $20 off coupon via teeoff.com @ $39 net pre-paid fee. Great deal for this course. Was paired with a friendly H/W couple. Golf Director held us back from our 11:10am tee time to wait for a speedy foursome coming through playing in a shot-gun tournament, so eventually teed off at 11:30am. Good thing, as there was such a huge blanket of fog/marine layer, you couldn't even see beyond 100 yards.

Skies cleared up just before we teed off, and was an absolute stunner of a sunny day after that! Playing this Robert Trent Jr. designed course on a sunny day is a treat. POP ended up slow for whatever reasons ahead of us, finishing in 4hrs, 50mins.

Course overall was in the best condition I've seen it over the past 3 years. Absolutely gorgeous. Greens were certainly a highlight, as the bent-grass greens were nearly perfect looking. They were firm, fast and smooth and putted very well. Was able to implement my recent AimPoint Express green reading class techniques with good results, to pick up slope that I would otherwise not have been able to detect. Rolled very true, with no bumps along the way.

Fairways were really nice, mostly a lush green, with some lighter, thinner areas that were firm. Rough was a good, but a mix of lush, penal 2" grass and some thin/burned out areas.

Was in about 4 bunkers, and they were pretty well groomed, with soft-ish damp sand, about 1 - 1/2" layer over a medium-firm base. Pretty nice to play out of, actually. Tees were OK, but could use some leveling.

Highly recommended right now. Their website says they are aerating Oct. 22/23rd.
