Out early as usual on a beautiful autumn morning. Greens have recovered from the aeration, but still have not regained their speed, but much better than they were a week ago. Getting there! Fairways are very nice, as are the tee boxes and bunkers. However, to protect (?) the rough, they continue to have 4 holes CPO, with no end when those holes will return to normal.

With the forecasted rain this week, I suspect it will be CPO for the entire course afterwards. I am rethinking my decision to use carts here.

This has always been one of my favorite courses to play. Just love the layout, particularly the back nine. Have to admit I was disappointed in some of the conditions. As the last reviewer pointed out, the bunkers are a disaster. I could deal with heavy rough, in fact it made it all that much more fun to avoid it, knowing that if you missed the fairway, it would cost half a stroke. Greens rolled well and had decent pace. A few areas on the tee boxes had issues, but nothing too bad. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating. Wish this course were closer to home, I'd sure play there a lot more frequently

Notice that they have overseeded all the tee boxes, so many of the tee boxes are closed, with the tee markers positioned between the pods or adjacent to them. Some had them in the front of the pod. Looks like it will be a couple weeks at least until they will open again. The greens have healed pretty well from the aeration, a little slow but not too bad. Fairways were very thin/tight. As I was ahead of maintenance, bunkers had not yet been racked.

As always, Ruth, in the shop was a pleasure to deal with. Being out first, so no issue with pace of play. It was nice to hole out my wedge on #18 for an eagle, so it made the drive home a little more tolerable.

Did not want to battle the winds so choose Oso Creek, which would be a bit more forgiving. Still enough breeze to make it interesting. Dave's review was spot on. Greens rolled pretty well and were faster than they appeared. (Winds dried them out I suspect) Good coverage in the fairways. Most of the tee boxes were fine. Could always find a spot to put my peg in the ground without an issue. Always a fun course to play, and as I age, it just becomes more of a legitimate challenge. Staff is friendly and accommodating, and the rate is reasonable for South Orange County

A rare afternoon round of golf for me. It sure makes a difference playing when the fairways are dry and mowed. Actually, got a bit of roll out which is appreciated and needed, rather than the wet fairways I'm accustomed too. Last review was spot on. Greens had decent pace and rolled well. Both bunkers I found has plenty of manicured sand.

As I was playing, I was thinking how much I miss the "original" course. Still, it was nice to return and play Mile Square again.

It's been cart on path all week and will continue to be for at least another 2 -3 weeks on the South course. Fairways appear to have great coverage from the overseeding, but I guess the extra CPO time will insure full recovery? Greens have completely recovered from the aeration and rolled well and were very receptive. The rest of the course is very nice, with the exception of a few spots off some of the cart path which have been over watered.

Can't wait to get back to the North course some time next week. Not that the South isn't nice, but CPO is a real pain.

Have not played San Clemente for a while, so when I received a late invite from a friend, jumped at the opportunity. What can be nicer than spending a morning on a beautiful autumn morning walking this course, looking out over the ocean. Makes me appreciate living in Southern California.

Agree with the prior review. Greens rolled nicely, not as quick as I remember them from my last time here. Good coverage in the fairway, with a few areas which could use some attention. Not in any bunkers, but they appeared OK. Just a fun course to walk on a near perfect weather day.

As we prepare to close the North Course for 8 days to aerate greens, course is in nice condition right now. Greens have nice pace, guessing about 10.5 and are super receptive. Good coverage in the fairways. Tee boxes also in great shape and the bunkers are great as usual.

My only complaint is they seem to always have multiple holes with cart path only. I have inquired as to the reason, and never receive a reasonable explanation. Not looking forward to moving to the South course, which will be CPO for several weeks on all holes, to allow the overseeding to recover.

Played Eagle Crest this morning. Nice that they are NOT charging holiday rates, which is appreciated. I have always liked the layout of this course. I think the "bones" of the course are excellent, but conditions, while they have never been even close to good, have deteriorated even further. The greens have always been the best (And only good, conditioned part of this course) Sadly, they appear to have lost a number of greens, and those which still had grass, were brutally slow. Fairways are rock hard and thin. The bunkers that have not yet been abandoned are hard packed and not groomed. Tee boxes are not level, and lots of divots.

The rates are great, the staff is great, access getting out early is great, but conditions are making me question how many more times I'll be willing to make the drive.

Always look forward to playing Marshall Cyn. I never tired of seeing the deer in the fairways, just an added perk to playing here. I have to agree with the prior review that the greens are just way too soft (and slow) One of the best features of this course is the challenge of the greens. When they are firm and faster; it makes this course play entirely different. Fairways were for the most part acceptable, with decent coverage. Several tee boxes were pretty chewed up.

However, for the price using the senior discount, it's such a great deal. Add the scenery and wildlife and it makes for a fun time

A bit of a late review. Not a whole lot to add to the prior review. The best part of the course would be the greens. Beyond that, not a lot of positives. Tee boxes still not totally open, so had to "make my own" tee box areas. The fairways are rather shabby right now as is the rough. I hope this is temporary.

I enjoy playing this course, now more than years ago, perhaps because it lacks all those "big" par four holes I can no longer reach in regulation. Still enough of a mix a holes to make it fun, and the green complexes just add to the enjoyment

Wanted to get out on the South Course before they shut it down for three weeks to overseed and aerate greens. Greens rolled very true, decent pace (about 10 I would guess) still receptive. Bunkers are as usual - excellent. Same with the tee boxes. Fairways are a bit "spotty" so hopefully the overseeding will resolve those issues.

Now we will have 1000+ members all trying to play the North course for the next three weeks. Should be interesting.
