Date: 11/15/2016 (MY Birthday Round)
Group: Twosome (wife & I)
Time: 10:30am
Conditions: Sunny & 70's little wind till back 9
POP: 4 hours (due to health have to pace myself)
Meet Up: Posted for weeks then deleted with no real interest

Deal of the day? $1.00 for upgraded yardage book even though the carts have Pro Link GPS system which worked fine BUT I prefer my Callaway 500 Rangefinder. The yardage book is a plus even if you've played this course a few times or not.

GREENS: Soft, receptive, not many ball marks but we fixed the ones we saw needing attention. Speed? Medium to Fast with some breakage near or around the cup (hole). I rated them ALMOST...ALMOST...Immaculate condition!
All putts rolled true no matter which brand of golf ball I used
(Callaway,Wilson & Srixon)

Fairways: Thin patchy areas, REMEMBER this course plays back & forth through the Flood Control Channel. (Stay away when it rains hard, then becomes a 9 hole course.) YES, you can play out of the fairways but thin or tight lies at best. Some area's may seem bare but it is drought conditions.

Rough: About 1"~2" hardly any bare areas but playable if you find yourself offline missing the fairway not by much.

BUNKERS: (NOT TRAPS) were consistent, soft with small pebbles even though looked firmer to the eyeballs.

Tee Boxes: On this day, tee boxes were moved up to accommodate & allow the remaining tee box to grow & fill in over time. Did not feel any uneven lies just some divot damage.

Customer Service: Guys in the Pro shop were friendly, explained how the B'day round works, input the course is in very good condition overall with emphasis on the greens (Pride). Carts allowed in the parking lot to load & unload.

Putting Green: You cannot ask for consistency from the very good condition greens to the course, NO CONFUSION!

It has Been YEARS.....YEARS since I last played this "QUIRKY" golf course, it's NOT long by any means nor is it a snooze (easy) course to play! All shots are needed from your bag. We chose this course because it was so close to our hotel this trip & probably will do the same next month (Look for MEET UP posting).

It's a walk able course but due to my health & energy level taking a electric cart makes it a little easier to get to the next tee box & get close the green within reasonable margin (Blue Flag).

Parking: TIP try not to park near or behind the 9th green!!! Even though there is netting, players often pick the wrong club....doink off a car or truck not uncommon.

We'll be back when in town & have our sticks!

This will be a "DRIVE BY" short review & I walked parts of the course!
*This is not playing review due my health complications.

As of this MORNING, the conditions couldn't be any better.
MUST PLAY in my opinion!!! Confirmed by all the carts & groups sitting on Hole1# Group middle fairway, group on the greens, group just tee'd off Hole#2 tee box.

I looked at some of the other Oasis Course (PALMER) holes & fairways and conditions seemed to be the same...on the back nine!

With the NV OPEN http://www.ghintpp.com/snga/TPPOnlineScoring/ResultsStroke.aspx?id=517 being played at the Palms & Casablanca with final round Thursday at the Casablanca.

There are (2) 9 hole courses in this area:

Date: 10/30/16
Twosome
Time: 11am
Conditions: mild breeze 5~6 mph THEN after 2pm wind speeds picked up over 20mph

Given a choice, I'd pick Coyote Willows over Beaver Dam because the rates are the same BUT Coyote Willows gives more of a challenge and you can hit Driver/3wood/Long Hybrid off the tee boxes on some holes.

This course was re-routed to adjust for the floods. It has to be close to FIVE years since we played it last. Btw, the Home owners took over this course from the previous management team and have made improvements!

LAYOUT: Hole #3 would normally be a PAR 5 but has been broken up into a par 3 due to the floods & the soil is not accepting grass to grow in many areas. Therefore cart path ONLY till you reach #4 Short Par 4.

The (3) finishing holes #7,#8 & #9 really make you think off the tee box since there are hidden water hazards to avoid. (See my tips).

Bunkers (NOT TRAPS): just a few on the course, wasn't in any of them but took a look at consistency (small pebbles & light sand)

Greens: Speed? SLOOOOOOOWWWW.....SLOOOOWWWWW. Roll true but you gotta really rap it from long distances. Soft, hairy & held all shots. Barely any ball marks to speak of.

Tee Boxes: Somewhat on the narrow side, some uneven lies can be found.

Fairways: Course is Green & looking tons better since we played it last (5 yrs ago).

Rough: not much to talk about, ball sits up & allows you to get back in play.

Hazards: not to many but they are strategically placed #1,#7,#8,#9.

Overall: We'd play this course again...again....again...It's a GREAT course for beginners who don't want to $pend over $100 rack rate at regulation courses in town.....There is always Beaver Dam "Executive", Meanwhile this is a "regulation" 9 hole course. Since there is no slope & rating, created a CDF 32.5 as a barometer.

Customer Service: Volunteers of home owners who refused to let this course die in their community.

It is a walk-able course but taking the carts helps to get you from #2 to #3 faster and even faster on hole #4 to #5.

This is a (9) Nine Hole Course "EXECUTIVE" not "REGULATION"

Tee Box: BLUE
Outside: Partly Sunny,Temp's upper 80's
Time: 1PM Twosome

Course Layout: There have been TWO "500 year Floods" within 3 years of each event and ONE "100 year flood" in the past two years! The VIRGIN RIVER has been re-routed and changed the LANDSCAPE surrounding this course.
EX: Hole #5 is a par 4 but now a Par 3 since the tee box is totally un-accessible since the VIRGIN RIVER tributary now run through it.

There are NO SAND BUNKERS on this course, na-da one!
Don't let that you get out of the chair & play this course.
The Greens are somewhat elevated (add to carry) surrounded by thick grass won't allow for Bump~N~run approach.

Greens: Slow.....slow......slow......slow.....is the speed!
Undulating, tilted, side sloped, not a flat green on this course.

Grass: Surrounding areas of grass are thick RYE,golf ball sits down somewhat still very playable.

Bunkers: NONE, in case you missed it.....NONE!

Tee Boxes: Very uneven, tiny area's to shoot from. ONE other MAJOR thing, seems like tee shots have to be a FADE to avoid the overhanging tree & limbs blocking an DRAW type shots!

Carts: GAS golf carts with a push choke on the drivers side to get started.

Customer Service: Very friendly, helpful, explanation how to play Hole#7! Drive cart to the parking lot...easy peasy....

Overall a little pleasure of a executive course to play, you'd never know your playing in a desert with all the Mature trees and surrounding area. Couple holes have the Virgin River Mountains as a backdrop. Cart path's have been re-routed due to floods or you have to navigate & follow the cart signs if available. Little tricky from hole #5 to #6.

Date: Sunday Sunday Sunday 10/2/16
Tee Box: Mens (GOLD)
Tee Time: 11am MTN / 10am (NV)
Green Fee: Located on website
ONLINE BOOKING: YES from GC website
Carts: GAS not electric due to hilly terrain

VALUE: Course Yardage book (Please ask, FREE especially if you have NOT played this course!) STUDY HOLES #4,6,8,10,11,16,18

We LOVE this course! CONDITIONS were the worst we've see it but still playable but PLEASE read my review carefully.

All Tee Boxes: Sparse grass process of growing back, boxes unlevel.

BUNKERS (Not traps): To the naked eye looks hard pan but actually were very soft, playable Very Good overall.

FAIRWAYS: Bare spots, you can see the grass is coming out of overseed? Divots? GOOD LORD!!!! I don't recall seeing so many divots in the fairway and the IRRESPONSIBILITY of golfers who FAILED to fill with (2) BOTTLES provided on the golf cart! Refill on the turn as well.
How LAZY are golfers? Geez (rant over)

ROUGH: 1" to 2 1/2" not many divots, actually the grass was better than the fairways.

LAYOUT: There are some hard tricky holes where BIG numbers just show up! Great mixture of holes to keep this a challenging course.
I recently found out the USGA Database was accurate & the GK staff made the quick adjustments! FYI, The Blues play 138 Slope / 73.5

STAFF: Friendly, perfect, allows you take cart to parking lot to load & unload.

RESTAURANT: Just a small place to grab something before,on the turn or hangout if not too late after the round.

GREENS: Ball marks, unfixed divots etc...but still ran smooth speed medium to fast but no too fast. On this day, I cannot REMEMBER HOW MUCH SPIN OFF THE GREENS AFFECTED my overall scoring chances!

False Front greens and a combination of using a Callaway Soft cover ball. My approach shots from 6 - LW irons were spinning off the greens, they were not firm so confusing since I'm NOT a "SPIN" player.

Greens are elevated so adjust your club selection accordingly.

RANGE/Putting Green/Chipping:
We did use the grass range, Putting Green is exactly what you'll find on the course, chipping area near the putting green.

I have taken SEVERAL pictures of the surrounding course but ONLY (5) were uploaded & posted. So this time I tried to take pictures of each & every hole, WE'll see how many get uploaded & posted to the Dayton Valley Golf Club.

Date: 9/19/2016
Time: 8AM four ball POP was just a tad over 4 hours
Tee Box: WHITE
Conditions: Course Preparing for upcoming 1st stage of Q-school comp.

GREENS: Excellent and we KNEW the speed of the greens would be over 11 stimpmeter. Overall EXCELLENT, hardly any ball marks, we fixed the ones we saw that need fixing. Tough putting, tough to hold approach shots onto the green,

BUNKERS/ (NOT TRAPS): I try to avoid any kind of bunkers, rather lay up then wedge approach shot. The three I found were slightly different consistency.
I wish more courses would spend the time to do a complete rake of each bunker. Just having dirt composite is unappealing.

FAIRWAY,ROUGH,TEE BOXES: I've lumped them altogether because the conditions were ideal, Couldn't find anything to point out.

LAYOUT: Arnold Palmer Designed. Plenty of mounds throughout the course when you don't find the fairways! Playable, not penal ability to get back into play IF you stay away from the bunkers. It's defiantly challenging but higher handicaps can play this course too!
PAR 3's weren't long but make sure your on the correct landing area to have a chance at par!

Range & Drink tickets were available part of the rate.
We did not use the range but decided to come back later "HAPPY HOUR"

FOOD: EXCELLENT but not many choices, I ordered the Chicken wrap tortilla & their FAMOUS HOME FRIES!!!!!! Don't get just French Fries, ORDER the "HOME FRIES"......dang so good.

The Clubhouse offers Happy hours & certain specials with group events.

Plenty of parking, they allow carts in the parking lot.

OVERALL I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COURSE!
WILL look forward to play it again when I have the energy to do so...

I took various pictures of the courses & surrounding area which I'll post since there are NO PICTURES available.

Everyone had a fun time despite the speed of the greens....SLOW.....SLOW.....SLOW......SLOW......Pace of play was perfect!

GREENS: Ridiculously slow....slow.....slow....slow....slow....I think the speed ($timpmeter) was below "7" maybe even lower. Conditions of the greens were very good, hardly any ball marks but then again would NOT hold any approach shots w/o rolling further away.

TEE BOXES: Were in very good overall condition.

BUNKERS: (NOT TRAPS) the sand bunkers were hard panned "DIRT".
Luckily I did not have to play out of them, but playing partners were disappointed.

FAIRWAYS: A little dry & there are some crusty spots but 75% green, a few GUR's too.

ROUGH: 1" INCH at the most

STAFF: Awesome & excellent getting everyone checked in.

RANGE: Grass tee boxes

PUTTING GREEN(S): There are TWO sets of putting greens plus a chipping/pitch area. The 1st putting green (small) is tucked away (hidden) located left side of the restaurant. The 2nd putting green (large) is located past the range & near hole #1 of the WHITE course.

I love playing here, still have yet to play the "COMSTOCK" (Red Course). It's an easy course to get around but some holes can bite you if not paying attention.

Yardage Book: Just a Cool $2.00 for all (3) regulation nine holes! Basic info, but will tell you distances to the bunkers from the tee box so you can decide which club to hit.

One other thing, it seems like you have to carry the front of the green or face chip shots out of some grassy knolls.

btw, my new index starts out at 28.7

Nice!
