Please, don't let this turn into a goat path. Put some sand in the bunkers, lots of sand, not just a quarter inch. Maybe the Marshalls could enforce pace of play because back nine is a crawl? Greens have healed up well after recent punch. There are probably less players because of the rates, this is not a $97 course weekend or not sorry.

There is a reason the Long Beach open has decided not to use this course this year when it has in the past. Played Thursday, June 29th in the afternoon and for a weekday pace of play was slow which has become the norm here. More concerning, the bunkers are like parking lots, might as well be hitting off a cart path. Scratch player so don't land in the bunker often, but on two or three different holes, the same, just hard deck. A petite young lady paired with us and thought she'd break her wrist, she walked out of a bunker rubbing her hand. Completely unacceptable if not a liability, and so easy and inexpensive to fix. The folks in the Pro Shop, snack bar and Starter at 1st tee were good, I just wish the course was better maintained and pace of play better managed.

Played again Tuesday, Jan. 12, 10am great weather and course conditions. Busy day but pop still about 4.15, so it was manageable considering a full parking lot. The greens were lightning-fast, fairways perfect, good sand in bunkers. Very challenging course, especially when the greens are like glass. The back nine holes are more challenging than the front, with more bunker protection, thinner fairway landing areas. Very little rough on this course. If you don't hit straight, bring a box of golf balls. Good beverage cart service. The outdoor grill tables/seats were removed, but beverages available, domestic beer, $7. The SCGA has a great drone 'fly-over' of this course, highly recommend watching. Driving range is huge, and a 2-3 min. drive from the pro-shop. But stay on the sidewalk, if you go into the parking lot, the cart will slow.

Like most LB courses (and LA county for that matter) very busy trac but POP manageable, 4.5 on a Sunday afternoon, sunny turning chilly. Many fairways are 'dormant' similar to Angeles National, so thin, yellow and dry. Greens were good considering the heavy use and rather quick. Bunkers were still wet from recent rain, some with puddles. Pro-shop is doing a good job of pacing groups, but a lot of occasional players, either new to the game, or just slow.
Golfers please use the range to learn or teach your friends and lets pick up the pace in 2021.

Played Wed 12/09/2020 11:15am tee time as a guest of a member. Really nice layout.
Was paired up with two other players, all with separate carts.
Great condition, greens were super fast, good sand in bunkers, all expected for a private club course. Typical pace of play for a private track. Nice variation and layout for this vintage course. Not too long, but very strategic, with trees, hills, water all from a mature layout. Thank you!
There is a good drone flyover on the club website.

Tee off Tuesday, 8:20 am. with three total players. Fairways are being seeded and sanded, but certainly playable. Greens are perfect but quick, few flat spots and some are multi-tiered. Fog in and out throughout the day which made this already challenging course more tricky. Cart service good and helpful. Dan at the range was friendly and interesting to chat with while warming up. The front nine is considerably easier than the back nine. Outside grill is open with good burgers or jumbo dogs, beers etc. Pace was good, no one in front and four behind us usually half a hole to a hole behind, so no problem. You can self park right in front for now, beer is 7.00 for domestic. SCGA has a good drone flyover of the course on Youtube. Love playing here. Thank you!
