Played Rancho Park on May 8th for an afternoon tee time of 2 pm. The wind was especially gusty but we played the blue tees anyway. Pace of play was somewhat slow at 5.5 hours, but that is normal for this course. The tee boxes were level and lush. Fairways were beautiful, although I wish I could say I hit them more often. Fairway bunkers were well-placed and tough to get out of, providing a good challenge for beginner/intermediate golfers. The greens ran fast and overall had fully recovered from getting punched about 3-4 weeks prior. Greenside bunkers were especially tricky due to a thin amount of sand on some of them. A broken water pipe due to construction leaked gallons of water on the cart path connecting Holes 4 and 5. Staff on-hand were working on it but not with vigor. The minor water leak did not impact play but requires a down-vote for visual appeal. Overall the course plays beautifully in the heart of Los Angeles and is worth the money and your time if you managed not to find any friends who belong to one of the many country clubs nearby. Highly recommend coming back as there is always something changing for the better on this course. Also, the snack shop on hole #12 is a sight for sore scorecards. Will definitely be back!

Played at Alhambra Municipal GC on May 18th with a morning tee time of 10:00 AM for the Thursday lunch and golf special. Pace of play was extra slow and the marshall did not particularly speed it up. The pace smoothed out at the turn-around. We played the blue tees, most of the tee boxes were lush and level. Watch out on the 17th tee for errant shots from #16 as it is very easy to startle the group ahead. The fairways had good coverage while the rough was thick and sucked my ball down into impossible lies at times. Pin placements were challenging but reachable. Some Par 5's were reachable in two if you played to your strengths. Some pins were just behind green-side bunkers which elevated the level of play considerably. The green-side bunkers themselves had nice soft sand and were easy enough to get out of if you played for maximum loft. The greens were in pretty solid condition with some predictable areas of wear around popular landing zones and bunker sand. I did not hit any fairway bunkers so I cannot comment on their condition. The layout is fun for beginner and intermediate golfers who are looking to test out different shots and take some risks. I highly recommend booking this amazing $30 deal for golf, burger, fries, and a drink directly through the Alhambra website. Will definitely be back soon.

Played this course on April 20th and tee'd off at 10am. POP was 4.5 hours long. Really enjoyed the on-course snack shop was amazing and came in handy often during the round as it is in close proximity to hole 5 and hole 13.

Overall, I enjoy playing this course because of the solid challenge for the everyday golfer, and yet not so tough as to not enjoy the round as a whole. The teeboxes were level but lacked lush conditions on more than one hole, requiring some minor adjustments to play. Fairways were firm and consistent. The rough played fairly shaggy. Did not land any bunkers so I cannot comment in their condition. The greens were firm and medium-fast. They held shots okay and left fewer ball marks.

Will definitely play again!
